opportunities within our Orchard Residential Care division in our new services in Mullingar.
We are seeking applications from enthusiastic Social Care Workers with a passion for supporting young people who are unable to
live with own families and who are referred to our service by Tusla.
These positions are ideal for those who enjoy working in a team and want to make a difference in the lives of children and young
people who have experienced trauma in their early years. You will be provided with extensive training in our model of care to
assist you in your role and will also have access to a multidisciplinary team that provides therapeutic support to the young
people.
Working on a shift rolling roster, you will engage in daily activities and routines of the service, providing dedicated direct
support to the people we care for as well as contributing to their development, health, and wellbeing.

Main purpose of job To supervise the Children’s Home on the day-to-day basis and to deliver a high quality, integrated approach that enables young people placed in Orchard Residential Care to achieve positive outcomes. To work proactively with your Manager to contribute to the optimum delivery and development of the Orchard Residential Care. To promote a culture within Orchard Residential Care and all aspects of its work that is respectful, non-discriminatory, and embracing of diversity. Responsible for: The effective delivery and day-to-day running of the Orchard Residential Care home, within the framework of Orchard Residential Care policies and procedures, and statutory regulations. To lead and support the Social Care team to deliver a high-quality service that promotes young people’s safety, well-being, and development and to contribute to the development of the service and to implement plans. Conditions of work This post requires a flexible approach to working hours, primarily to ensure the safety and well-being of young people and staff. Person Specification * Level 7 or 8 qualification in Social Care. * In process of registering or registered as a Social Care Worker with CORU. * Professional Qualification in teaching, social care, social work or youth work * At least 3 years post qualifying experience in mainstream residential care. * At least 3 years direct experience of working in and/or managing services to vulnerable children and young people. * Excellent communication and report writing skills. * I.T Skills * Full clean drivers’ licence which allows you to drive in Ireland & has been held for one year or more. ABOUT THE ROLE Orchard Fostering is an Irish company established in 2008 that provides fostering and supported lodging services to children and young people who are referred to its service by TUSLA. Orchard Fostering is committed to service excellence and ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people in its care. Supporting the Team Leader in achieving the aims set for the Service within organisational policies and in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Focusing on providing the highest possible standards of care, support, and protection for children while collaborating with colleagues to meet these objectives. We currently have an opportunity for a full time Social Care Worker, to join our team to support our service on a 5 day week, 39 hours per week. Location: We welcome applicants nationwide, though candidates located in Carlow, Westmeath, Kildare, Louth, Longford, Laois, Dublin & Wicklow or surrounding areas, would be most suitable for the role due to travel requirements. Main Duties: 1. To take a flexible and creative approach understanding individuals needs and engaging in activities while working with children, young people, and foster families. 2. Provide direct support work to children, engage in supervised family visits and offer support to foster carers as required. 3. To facilitate respite and educational workshops with children, young people, and foster families. 4. Maintain detailed records of sessions, meetings, including progress and reporting findings to relevant teams as required while adhering to organisational standards and confidentiality protocols. 5. Communicate closely with the Support Team Leader and work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders via regular meetings and detailed reports as required. 6. Taking responsibility for specific aspects of the service such as children’s health promotion, links with education and community involvement. 7. To undertake recording of work including computerised recording in compliance with the company’s recording policy and standards. 8. Complying with childcare legislation, regulations, and child protection procedures, as well as undertaking mandatory training related to the Children’s First Act 2015. 9. Staying informed about Orchard Fostering policies and procedures to ensure adherence. Essential Requirements * A recognised qualification in Social Care or appropriate recognised qualification through CORU. Evidence of application to CORU will be necessary. * Previous experience in the foster care field is desirable but not mandatory. Ideally, post graduate experience of working directly with children, young people and families. * High standard of report writing skills and computer literacy. * Full driver’s license and access to own vehicle, as travel will be required for this post. * Experience of facilitation of training is desirable. * Must have valid Garda Clearance. * Must have valid Overseas Clearance if applicant lived abroad for more than 6 months. ABOUT THE ROLE As we continue to expand to provide additional services to meet the needs of those we care for, we currently have a number of opportunities within our Orchard Community Care division at our homes in Co Longford area for full time and part time Social Care Workers/Residential Care Workers. We would love to welcome you to our team to help provide residential and day services to children and adults with medium to profound disability, including those with life limiting conditions. Our multidisciplinary teams are supported by a range of other professionals including psychologists, behavioural therapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists. Working on a rolling roster, shift basis, you will engage in daily activities and routines of the service, providing dedicated direct support to the people we care for as well as contributing to their development, health, and wellbeing.
