To support this ambitious goal, we are seeking a Senior Test Application HW/SW Developer to join our Electrical Functional Test
Team in Munich. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of automated test software applications
used to validate electronics at various levels — from individual boards to full subsystems — across our verification and
validation campaigns.
You will play a key role in shaping the test automation framework used on our Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) platforms, working in
close collaboration with electrical, avionics, and system engineers.

JOIN US AS A SENIOR VEHICLE TEST ENGINEER - AUTONOMOUS DRIVING (ALL GENDERS) AND HELP BRING AUTONOMOUS MOBILITY AND TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS FOR THE CITIES OF TOMORROW TO LIFE. As part of the Test Engineering Team, you will focus on testing self-driving software and vehicle platforms for Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) and Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS) use cases as well as real-world deployments. At our state-of-the-art Proving Ground at Munich Airport, we plan, conduct, and analyze testing activities on a daily basis in close collaboration with multiple test environments across MOIA. In doing so, we play a key role in advancing the development of autonomous solutions at scale. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Design and own vehicle system-level test cases for a Level 4 autonomous driving system. * Collaborate with Function Owners, V&V, and SOTIF teams to validate system behavior. * Define and execute test strategies for new software releases and platform integrations. * Analyze test data and create structured test result packages. * Support in-vehicle system-level troubleshooting activities. * Ensure safe, efficient, and scalable testing processes. * Develop automation and tooling to accelerate testing. * Contribute to bringing autonomous mobility safely to public roads. WHAT WILL HELP YOU TO FULFILL YOUR ROLE * A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. * Experience with or good understanding of Level 4 autonomous driving systems. * Strong understanding of autonomous driving system stacks. * Experience with automotive debugging tools and communication protocols (e.g., Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, Wireshark, oscilloscope). * Hands-on experience with requirements management and bug-tracking tools. * Solid Linux knowledge (nice to have). * A structured and analytical working style. * A proactive team player with a strong sense of ownership. * Business fluent English skills. ABOUT THE ROLE We are developing the avionics system of a rocket engine powered by electric pumps. The team is responsible for the design, integration, testing, and qualification of the engine electronics and embedded software. We are looking for an Senior Electronics Hardware Test & Qualification Engineer to help structure, execute, and industrialize our electronics test activities. This role is intended for someone who is both rigorous in test definition and reporting, and hands-on in the lab. The objective is to help mature our electronics hardware from prototype bring-up to qualified and deliverable units by defining test strategies, preparing test campaigns, building test means, executing tests, analyzing results, and producing clear verification evidence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS We are looking for someone who enjoys the interface between engineering design and real hardware testing. The ideal candidate is rigorous enough to define proper test strategies and qualification evidence, but practical enough to build a test adapter, debug a signal on an oscilloscope, and improve a lab setup. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-moving development environment where hardware is still evolving, tests need to be structured, and technical issues must be solved pragmatically. The role requires both engineering discipline and hands-on ownership. * Define, structure, and maintain electronics test strategies for ECU, inverter electronics, and future control boards, from development testing to qualification and acceptance. * Translate requirements into test cases, procedures, acceptance criteria, and verification evidence, ensuring clear requirements-to-test traceability. * Prepare, organize, and execute electronics test campaigns, including board bring-up, functional testing, hardware/software integration, inverter testing, and power HIL. * Design, build, and maintain hands-on test means such as test boards, breakout boards, harnesses, adapters, loads, and instrumentation setups. * Analyze test results, write clear test reports, document deviations, and support qualification or delivery reviews. * Support hardware debugging and anomaly investigations using schematics, measurements, logs, and lab instrumentation. * Improve test bench robustness, repeatability, safety, configuration control, and automation. * Work closely with electronics, power electronics, embedded software, control, mechanical/thermal, supplier, and test teams to ensure avionics hardware is testable, integrated, and deliverable. WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU * Hands-on experience in electronics hardware testing, board bring-up, debugging, validation, or qualification. * Ability to read schematics, PCB documentation, datasheets, interface specifications, and requirements. * Experience preparing test plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and test reports. * Practical experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, DAQs, multimeters, logic analyzers, CAN tools, or power analyzers. * Ability to design or assemble simple test boards, harnesses, breakout boards, adapters, or custom lab setups. * Good understanding of embedded electronics interfaces such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, ADC/DAC, discrete I/O, and power interfaces. * Experience with test automation using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools would be a strong plus. * Experience with aerospace, automotive, defense, rail, robotics, energy, or another safety-critical hardware environment would be highly appreciated. Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. The System Integration Senior Engineer will help lead the Nyx system end‑to‑end integration and verification, with a focus on functional platforms (Software in the Loop Platform, Processor in the Loop Platform, Hardware in the Loop Platform, Functional Simulation Facility). You will define and execute test plans, manage requirement traceability, analyse test results, and close verification evidence across SIL/PIL/HIL and physical test campaigns. Working closely with subsystem leads, AIT teams, and external partners, you will identify integration risks, resolve anomalies, and ensure that all mechanical functions perform safely and reliably throughout the mission profile. This position requires a rigorous systems mindset, strong understanding of mechanical behaviour in the space environment, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary verification activities to successful closure. Key Responsibilities In your capacity a System Integration Senior Engineer, your role will continuously evolve, but initially your day-to-day duties will include: * Ensure the definition and implementation of the Nyx Earth system integration and verification activities, which meets technical and programmatic requirements and considers the adequacy of model philosophy, facilities availability, planning and costing. * Define plans and specifications with clear Success Criteria and support the generation of test procedures with the Functional Platform team. * Drive the technical discussions, preparation, organization and execution of the system verification campaigns, to ensure the closure of all system verification aspects, including nominal and off nominal spacecraft behaviors. * Organise the different reviews for incremental progress and ultimate closure of verification events. * Generate reports and drive the closure of the Items for Verification and Validation covered by the campaign. * Collaborate with all Functional Chain responsible and engineering disciplines to prepare and perform the system activities. * Process the anomalies occurring during the verification campaign in coordination with the Product Assurance Team and the rest of the Engineering Team. What we would love to see from you In the role of System Integration Senior Engineer ideally, you will have the following: * Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, or another related field. * 5 to 10 years of experience in systems design, analysis, and testing of aerospace or space-related systems, with a focus on integration of complex spacecraft and/or testing activities. * Hands-on hardware experience. * Practical experience / contact with functional test platforms, such as software in the loop, hardware in the loop, and bench testing. * Experience in the development and verification of space hardware. * Spacecraft systems knowledge.
