This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful company as an Africa Analyst. Based in Nairobi, this dual role will
involve, firstly, assisting the economics research team in their coverage of the region, and, secondly, performing some groundwork

RESPONSIBILITIES * Work with the product owner and other subject matter experts to define features and products to build. * Enable and facilitate teams to deliver software products to achieve the client’s business outcomes. * Facilitate teams in-person and remotely, working with team-members from Equal Experts, the client and other suppliers. * Work with an array of roles including Technical, Business, Research and product stakeholders to align and enable them to achieve successful outcomes. * Build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders. Confident in talking to a wide range of people through the team, client stakeholders and wider network. * Runs focused interactive workshops, calls upon a wide range of tools and practices to keep people focused and engaged on the goal, and guides the conversation in a meaningful direction. * Knows how to build good, solid, long-term relationships with business stakeholders, delivery team(s) and senior stakeholders. * Has a technical appreciation of how the product or service is built and supported. Needs to be able to use, test and demonstrate it. Can relay the technical approach and explain basic concepts to others. What you will get to do * Investigate fraud attacks, quantify their impact, and present clear findings that drive prioritisation and response * Propose and refine rule-based mitigations, working with fraud operations and engineering to see them through to implementation * Build and maintain reporting and dashboards to monitor fraud trends, rule performance, and key operational metrics * Work closely with fraud operations, data scientists, engineers, and product managers to ensure analytical insights translate into action * Proactively identify emerging patterns and flag risks before they escalate To succeed in this role, you should have * Proven experience as a Data Analyst (Fraud), or a similar role (4+ years, can be made up for with accomplishments) * Strong problem solving skills * Advanced proficiency with SQL. you're comfortable writing complex queries to investigate and slice data across large datasets * Experience in fraud, risk, or financial services; you understand how fraud attacks work and how to think about mitigation trade-offs * A proactive mindset — you don't wait to be asked; you spot something unusual and you dig in * Some exposure to Python or scripting for data manipulation and analysis * Proficiency with a BI tool (PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, Superset, Redash, or any other alternative) * Strong stakeholder management skills; you can communicate findings clearly to fraud operations, product managers, engineers, and senior leadership — and you know how to influence decisions with data across all of them. * Comfort working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams where priorities shift quickly. * Proficiency with a spreadsheet tool (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, or any other alternative) * Enjoy autonomy and a flat structure: we have millions of customers and a flat hierarchy so any individual can have an outsized impact * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques * A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or any other related field Experience with the following would be a plus * Data governance * Python or any other scripting language * Git or any other version control tool What we can offer you * Culture - We put our people first and prioritise the well-being of every team member. Job Purpose Supports the Head of Group FP&A in running the Group's forecasting, budgeting, and reporting cycle, and acts as the FP&A resource for smaller subsidiaries that don't yet have a dedicated full-time finance analyst. Responsibilities: * Maintain and update the Group consolidation model monthly, reconciling actuals to forecast and flagging variances * Provide forecasting, budgeting, and management-reporting support directly to subsidiaries without their own FP&A resource * Prepare Board and management reporting packs to house standard, on a fixed monthly/quarterly cadence * Support the annual budget process: templates, data collection from BUs, consolidation, and variance commentary * Run variance analysis against budget and prior forecast, and draft the narrative behind the numbers * Maintain KPI and unit-economics tracking across the entities in scope * Respond to ad hoc analysis requests from the CFO, Head of Group FP&A, or subsidiary leadership Qualifications: * 4-6 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or a similar corporate finance role * Advanced Excel / financial modelling skills * Experience working with multi-entity or multi-currency numbers * Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA) or equivalent analytical background Preffered Qualifications: * Experience in banking, fintech, or another regulated environment * Exposure to Board-level reporting * Comfort working directly with subsidiary or BU stakeholders without close day-to-day supervision About You * You're comfortable being the only FP&A point of contact for a subsidiary.
