We are seeking a data scientist with a strong background in experimentation and statistical analysis to help us improve and iterate on our experimentation platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving our experiment processes at scale, leveraging their expertise to drive innovation and help make sure that Pinterest users are receiving the most thoroughly data-driven features. What you’ll do:; * Comb through the literature in experimentation to identify potential methodologies that can improve parts of our platform where we have the biggest opportunities. * Make the process of setting up, running and evaluating experiments smoother and more repeatable for our platform users, ensuring that decisions are risk-aware and consistent * Write workflows to make our vast experimentation meta-data able to be leveraged by our team and outside of our team to better understand the experimentation landscape. * Consult with product data science teams to debug, design or improve their experiments and experimentation process.   What we’re looking for: * PhD in a relevant field (stats, applied math, biostatistics, etc…) OR 2+ years of hands-on experience working as a data scientist or applied scientist. * Experience working directly on experimentation problems and an awareness of state of the art methodologies. * The ability to write clean, efficient, and scalable code that can be easily maintained and extended by other team members. * Proficiency in software development best practices, including version control systems such as Git, to ensure efficient collaboration, code management, and reproducibility in a data science environment. * Familiarity with workflow management tools such as Apache Airflow to create and schedule data pipelines, allowing for automated and reliable execution of machine learning workflows.   In-Office Requirement Statement: * We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. As Pinterest grows, it’s increasingly important that we understand these systems clearly so we can make smarter decisions for both Pinners and the business.   We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our Infrastructure Data Science team. In this role, you’ll partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to make Pinterest’s infrastructure more measurable, intelligible, and actionable. Depending on the area, your work may span app performance, shopping infrastructure, metrics quality, infrastructure governance, or site reliability. You’ll help build the data foundations, measurement systems, and analytical frameworks that enable Pinterest to optimize core technical systems and make better product and infrastructure decisions. What you’ll do: In this role, you will partner closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to improve how Pinterest measures, understands, and optimizes its infrastructure: * Partner with engineering teams to define, measure, and improve the health, quality, and efficiency of Pinterest’s infrastructure systems. * Build and refine metrics, dashboards, and analytical frameworks that make complex technical systems more understandable and actionable. * Strengthen data foundations by improving metric definitions, auditing data quality, and contributing to pipeline and measurement improvements where needed. * Design and analyze experiments, investigations, and deep dives to quantify the impact of infrastructure changes on user experience, reliability, and business outcomes. * Translate ambiguous technical problems into clear analyses and actionable recommendations for engineering and platform partners. * Support high-priority investigations and decision-making related to infrastructure performance, reliability, cost, and measurement quality. * Identify opportunities to improve how Pinterest measures and optimizes infrastructure across a range of domains, such as performance, shopping infrastructure, governance, metrics quality, and site reliability. What we’re looking for: * Masters degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Applied Math, Biostatistics, or equivalent experience. * Strong SQL and analytical programming skills, with experience working through messy, imperfect data and building reliable metrics and datasets. * Experience partnering on or contributing to production-ready data pipelines, measurement systems, or foundational data work that improves data quality and usability. * Solid foundation in experimentation and measurement, with the ability to design analyses, interpret results rigorously, and partner effectively with engineers and other cross-functional stakeholders. * Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear analytical workstreams and actionable recommendations. * Strong cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly to engineering, product, and platform stakeholders. * Ability to operate independently, prioritize across both longer-term projects and fast-turn inbound requests, and drive work forward in a dynamic environment. * Curiosity and a builder mindset, with excitement for improving messy systems and creating more scalable, trustworthy measurement foundations.   Relocation Statement: * We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments.
