WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR As an electrical and/or mechatronics technician, you will be the technical backbone of our recycling plant. This role is for a true hands-on professional with proven experience in both mechanical and electrical domains, capable of working independently in a demanding industrial environment, including high-voltage systems and complex equipment. You will work directly on the shop floor, performing installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting production during ramp-up and scale-up phases. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring plant reliability, uptime, and safe operations, contributing directly to the build-up and continuous improvement of our production site. Your cross-functional expertise will make you a critical pillar of the maintenance and operations team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MECHANICAL * Installation & Assembly: Independently install, assemble, and commission a wide range of industrial equipment, machinery units, and complex piping systems. * Modifications & Upgrades: Execute technical modifications and plant improvements to optimize process performance and equipment integration. * Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, align, and troubleshoot pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and heavy process equipment. * Spare Parts Management: Identify, replace, and manage critical spare parts to ensure rapid recovery and minimal downtime. * Preventive Care: Execute and optimize preventive and corrective maintenance schedules across all mechanical assets. * Fabrication: Perform welding, machining, and metal fabrication as required for repairs or bespoke plant adjustments. * Diagnostics: Diagnose mechanical wear and tear, implementing sustainable technical solutions to extend equipment life. ELECTRICAL * High-Voltage & Safety: Safely manage high-voltage systems and strictly enforce electrical safety (LOTO) and compliance. * Installation & Power: Install, wire, and commission electrical systems, control cabinets, and high-voltage power distribution. * Infrastructure: Implement cable routing, conduits, and tray systems for power and signal lines. * Instrumentation: Maintain and calibrate sensors and actuators to ensure accurate process feedback. * Diagnostics & Upgrades: Perform structured fault-finding and modify control logic or panels to improve plant automation. GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND OWNERSHIP * Diagnose complex faults across mechanical and electrical systems and implement sustainable solutions * Develop and actively execute preventive maintenance plans from scratch to improve equipment reliability and uptime * Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of new equipment and production systems * Ensure strict compliance with safety standards (LOTO, high-voltage procedures, etc.) * Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation * Act as a reliable go-to technician on the shop floor, supporting operations with minimal supervision * Contribute to and actively improve the maintenance workshop (tools, equipment, layout, and processes), bringing in practical ideas to increase efficiency, organization, and overall maintenance effectiveness PLANT OPERATIONS AND PRODUCTION SUPPORT * Contribute hands-on to commissioning, plant modifications, and installation of new production lines * Support commissioning and ramp-up activities by operating equipment, handling materials, and assisting daily plant operations as needed, ensuring safe and efficient execution * Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and compliance, while proactively improving equipment reliability, production processes, and site safety REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE * Completed vocational training as a Mechatronics Technician, Industrial Electrician, or equivalent * Several years of proven industrial experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics * Demonstrated ability to work independently across disciplines (not specialized in only one area) * Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems (required) * Strong understanding of industrial equipment, piping systems, and electrical infrastructure * Experience with PLC-based systems and industrial automation is a strong advantage WHAT WE EXPECT * You are a doer, not a trainee, and can execute safely and independently without constant guidance * Strong ownership mindset with consistent, reliable delivery * Comfortable switching between mechanical and electrical work as needed * High awareness of safety standards, especially in high-voltage environments * Practical, solution-oriented mindset suited for a fast-paced industrial startup environment * Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work in a shift system to support operations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Preventive & Corrective Maintenance * Execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities as assigned by the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (MPS) to ensure optimal reliability and performance of facility mechanical systems. * Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical equipment supporting critical production environments. * Interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, piping schematics, blueprints, and OEM documentation when diagnosing issues. System Operations & Performance * Monitor system conditions and equipment performance using SCADA, controls interfaces, trend logs, and on-equipment instrumentation. * Adjust, balance, and optimize system performance to maintain environmental stability and energy efficiency. * Escalate system abnormalities promptly and document findings, work completed, and recommended actions. Facility Mechanical Systems Work with a wide range of semiconductor facility mechanical systems, including: * Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Filter Units (FFUs), Fan Coil Units * Exhaust systems and specialty gas/chemical scrubbers * Chillers (low temp & high temp), boilers, and heat exchangers * Cooling towers and associated water treatment equipment * Process and distribution water systems (chilled water, heating water, cooling water loops) * Compressed air systems (compressors, dryers, filters) * Mechanical distribution systems, pumps, valves, piping, VFDs, and hydronic systems Operational Efficiency & Project Work * Work closely with system owners, engineers, and cross-functional teams to support operational improvement initiatives and efficiency upgrades. * Participate in the development, planning, and execution of system upgrade projects, equipment replacements, and reliability enhancements. Compliance, Documentation & Site Audits * Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documentation, and system status entries in the designated CMMS (e.g., Maximo). * Perform site and equipment audits to ensure alignment with safety requirements, operational procedures, and facility standards. * Follow LOTO, confined space entry, PPE, and semiconductor facility EHS policies at all times. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * 2–4 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in facilities, industrial, utilities, manufacturing, or similar environment, is required. * Technical experience with mechanical utilities such as HVAC, chilled water, heating water, compressed air, hydronics, and rotating equipment. * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals. * Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. * Working knowledge of safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), hazard recognition, and PPE usage. This includes ownership of the calibration program, hazardous waste compliance program, and PM quality standards. This role performs complex diagnosis and repair of furnace systems, compressed air infrastructure, calibrated instrumentation, and facility electrical systems with minimal supervision. The Maintenance Technician III is the first responder to equipment issues, the driver of reliability improvements, and the formal trainer and mentor for Maintenance Technician I and II personnel. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Lead diagnosis and repair of complex furnace system failures including electrical, thermocouple, atmosphere control, and high-temperature mechanical components * Assist in ownership of calibration program. Develop and maintain calibration schedules, perform calibrations, audit documentation, and ensure traceability across all process equipment * Serve as technical resource for compressed air system health including predictive monitoring, major overhauls, system efficiency assessment, and vendor coordination * Maintain hazardous waste compliance program. Oversee container labeling, accumulation timelines, inspection logs, full MassDEP and RCRA regulatory adherence, and ensure team compliance with all LOTO and confined space entry procedures across all shifts * Review, author, and continuously improve PM task lists in CMMS. Validate work order completion quality, close documentation gaps, and maintain accurate records to support management reporting on asset health, downtime, and PM completion rates * Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting and repair including panel level work, VFDs, PLCs, 3-phase systems, and control system modifications up to 480V * Serve as first responder to equipment issues. Make independent decisions on repair strategy, equipment disposition, and when to engage vendors or engineering * Provide formal on-the-job training and mentorship to Maintenance Technician I and II personnel. Maintain training records and serve as a Qualified Trainer for the team * Participate in new equipment installations and commissioning activities. Support engineering with facility infrastructure modifications * Serve as the primary maintenance point of contact for additive manufacturing and production operations teams.
