See yourself at Twilio Join the team as Twilio’s next Staff Enterprise Security Engineer (AI Security) About the job As a Staff Enterprise Security Engineer, you will be a technical leader within the EntSec team, responsible for the foundational security posture of our organization. You will serve as an SME on the technical strategy and engineering execution for securing the AI ecosystem in our Enterprise, moving beyond policy into building the foundational "decision infrastructure" and technical guardrails that allow the enterprise to innovate with AI at scale. You will also guide strategic direction and collaboration across enterprise security domains. You will need a background in security engineering and the cross-functional influence necessary to solve ambiguous, large-scale problems. Leveraging expertise in security assessments,  threat modeling, identity and access control principles, and data protection, you will architect and build preventative guardrails and mitigate new risks introduced by first and third-party AI agents in our Enterprise. Responsibilities In this role, you’ll: * Design and implement secure reference architectures for Enterprise AI platforms that secures every Twilion’s engagement with them, ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and resilience against evolving AI threats. * Establish a definitive framework for AI vetting, driving the cultural and policy shifts needed to institutionalize this strategic mindset across the organization. * Collaborate with cross functional partners to develop and set the long term roadmap for agentic AI identity and posture management, ensuring cohesive strategies for reducing risk from agentic AI use. * Maintain and improve our enterprise security posture through high-quality code (Python, Go, or similar) and automated infrastructure management via IAC. * Act as a technical mentor to junior engineers and a strategic advisor to leadership on the evolving AI landscape. Required: * 7+ years of experience in security engineering or infrastructure security * 2+ years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment. * Expertise in cloud security (AWS, GCP) and container security (Kubernetes). * Proven track record of designing and deploying complex security systems at scale. * Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java. Desired: * Experience in building, deploying and reviewing automation for complex security workflows, including use of both AI-driven and traditional automation tools. * Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex AI security risks to non-technical stakeholders. As Principal Security Engineer, you'll set the technical direction for security across our engineering organisation: from secure architecture and threat modelling, to embedding security thinking into how a fast-growing AI company designs, builds, and ships. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You won't just maintain a security programme — you'll define it, working across infrastructure, product, and AI/ML teams to ensure security is built in from the start, not bolted on afterwards. You'll be a technical authority and a multiplier, raising the security bar across the whole organisation. AREAS OF OWNERSHIP: * Own the technical security engineering strategy across Parloa's platform, infrastructure, and AI/ML systems * Lead deep threat modelling and architecture reviews for new and existing systems, including LLM-based and voice/chat AI pipelines * Drive secure-by-design practices into the software development lifecycle, partnering closely with engineering teams rather than gatekeeping after the fact * Design and improve detection, monitoring, and incident response capabilities across cloud and AI infrastructure * Guide security architecture for multi-tenant, sensitive data flows across Parloa's enterprise customer base * Support compliance and governance efforts (e.g. SOC 2, ISO 27001) by ensuring technical controls are sound and well-documented * Mentor senior+ engineers and security practitioners, building security capability across the wider organisation * Act as a trusted technical voice in conversations with enterprise customers and partners on security matters * Stay ahead of the evolving threat landscape for AI and voice/chat systems, bringing new risks and mitigations to the team proactively WHO YOU ARE: * Extensive experience (15+ years) in security engineering, with demonstrated impact at Staff or Principal level * Deep expertise in application security and/or cloud security, threat modelling, and secure architecture for distributed, cloud-native systems * Hands-on experience with cloud security across AWS, GCP, or Azure, and container orchestration (Kubernetes) * Strong understanding of identity and access management, encryption, and secure data handling at enterprise scale * Experience securing systems handling sensitive or regulated data, ideally with exposure to GDPR or similar frameworks * A track record of driving security strategy and influencing engineering culture across an organisation, not just executing individual fixes * Excellent communication skills, able to explain security risk and trade-offs clearly to engineers, leadership, and customers * Genuine curiosity about AI systems and a willingness to dig into the emerging security challenges they introduce OUR ENGINEERING VALUES: At Parloa, we hire, promote, and evaluate based on cultural and technical excellence. We're Looking For a Staff Software Engineer – AI & Automation We're building a new Productivity Engineering team, and you'll be the founding engineer of an internal platform that lets non-engineers build, deploy, and host agents and applications. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Operating with an AI-first mindset, you will leverage AI, agents and technical logic to: * Architect and build the foundational platform that enables business users across the organisation to create, deploy, and manage internal applications and agents without requiring engineering support. * Own the end-to-end design of this platform, from infrastructure and hosting to the self-service interfaces and guardrails that make it safe and approachable for non-technical users. * Establish the patterns, integrations, and building blocks that connect to core enterprise systems and allow business teams to move quickly without compromising security or compliance. * Work closely with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into platform capabilities, ensuring the systems you build are not only technically sound but genuinely adopted. * Operate as a senior technical voice within a small, high-autonomy team, helping set architectural direction and raising the bar for how the team designs and delivers. REQUIREMENTS & TECHNICAL COMPETENCE * The Blueprint: Extensive track record as a Senior, Staff, or Principal Engineer, with a proven history of owning greenfield platforms, distributed systems, and backend scalability patterns. * Infrastructure & Platform: Deep production-scale GCP (compute, networking, IAM, managed services), Kubernetes, and Helm (designing for multi-tenancy). * Languages: Proficient in Go (primary), with comfort across the stack in TypeScript and/or Python. * Developer Experience (DX): Hands-on experience with GitOps, environment provisioning, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and enterprise security/IAM (SSO/Okta integration). * AI Integration: Experience integrating LLMs and agentic systems into production backends (Vertex AI, Gemini, OpenAI, MCP, or similar). * Product Mindset: Strong understanding of API design and a proven ability to design for non-technical users—you care about onboarding, UX, documentation, and what "easy to use" means in practice.
