AN OVERVIEW OF THIS ROLE GitLab is building the most comprehensive AI-powered DevSecOps platform, and this role will help shape how teams move from planning to code in an AI-native software development lifecycle. As Senior Product Manager, Plan to Code, you'll shape how planning and managing source code will evolve in an AI-native software development lifecycle. This role is focused on bringing planning and code closer together, so teams can move from requirements and specifications to commits, merge requests, and customer value with speed and quality. This area is evolving quickly. We're exploring how AI agents can use specifications, context, and human feedback to build the right thing, not just build the thing right. You'll help define new product experiences that support spec-driven development, human-in-the-loop workflows, and a more seamless handoff from planning to coding. This is an ambiguous, high-impact opportunity for a product manager who has strong software development lifecycle knowledge, is comfortable working with technical teams, and wants to help create something new in DevSecOps. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Define and drive product strategy for experiences that connect planning, source code management, and AI-assisted development. * Help shape spec-driven development workflows that make it easier for teams and AI agents to move from requirements to code. * Work with engineering, design, and other product teams to build product experiences that support human-in-the-loop and autonomous development workflows. * Partner with teams working on demos and prototypes, including near-term work around spec-driven planning and autonomous development modes. * Use customer insights, product usage data, and market context to identify opportunities that can deliver customer value quickly. * Help teams ship fast with quality, balancing near-term execution with longer-term product direction. * Explore how planning can better account for reviewing code, reviewing test cases, and validating that work produced by agents matches the intended outcome. * Collaborate across Plan, Source Code Management, Code Review, and AI product areas to reduce friction across the software development lifecycle. WHAT YOU’LL BRING * Experience as a product manager working on developer tools, DevOps tools, source code management, planning tools, AI-native products, or related software development lifecycle products. * Strong understanding of how software moves from ideas and requirements through planning, coding, review, testing, and delivery. * Experience working with technical product areas and engineering teams, with enough technical depth to understand developer workflows and tradeoffs. * A data-forward approach to product management, including experience using data to identify customer impact and guide prioritization. * Comfort operating in ambiguous spaces where there may not yet be a clear market pattern or established product category. * Experience using or building with AI tools, agents, or AI-assisted workflows in a way that goes beyond basic prompting. * Ability to think creatively about how AI changes the software development lifecycle and how product experiences should adapt. * Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially in an all-remote, asynchronous environment. * A bias toward action and the ability to help teams ship meaningful customer value quickly. AN OVERVIEW OF THIS ROLE As the Senior Product Manager, AI Platform Management at GitLab, you'll help define how platform teams safely operate and govern agentic AI at scale. This role sits at the center of GitLab's AI platform direction, where you'll shape the product strategy for the AI Control Plane and the foundational services that support the Agentic Factory. You'll work on problems that matter to enterprise customers, including governance, policy enforcement, auditability, and safe agent execution across fast-changing AI ecosystems. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Go-to-Market teams, and GitLab's top enterprise customers to turn complex platform and compliance needs into clear product direction. This is a role for someone who can think in systems, make choices in ambiguity, and balance near-term delivery with long-term platform architecture. In your first year, you'll focus on validating customer needs, refining the roadmap for core control plane capabilities, and helping GitLab build a strong product foundation for human-agent collaboration. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Drive product strategy and execution for GitLab's AI Platform Management area, with a focus on governance, control, and platform services for agentic AI. * Own the AI Control Plane as the central experience for platform teams to define guardrails, configurations, governance policies, and audit evidence around agent activity. * Own the foundational control plane services for the Autonomous Factory, including the Flow Execution Engine, the Constraint & Policy Store, and the Audit Log Service. * Conduct competitive analysis across AI agent execution platforms, large language model providers, and adjacent market alternatives to inform product direction and differentiation. * Identify customer problems and monetization opportunities, develop solution concepts, and validate them through close partnership with field teams and customers. * Engage directly with GitLab's top enterprise customers for product discovery, research, design partnership, and ongoing feedback loops. * Translate governance, compliance, and enterprise platform requirements into clear product requirements, priorities, and acceptance criteria for cross-functional teams. * Communicate product narrative, strategy, tradeoffs, and roadmap updates effectively with internal leaders and customer stakeholders. WHAT YOU’LL BRING * Product management experience owning platform or governance products in a B2B SaaS environment, with the ability to drive strategy and execution in complex technical domains. * Experience shipping foundational services with downstream integration points, not just features layered on top of existing systems. * Strong platform product instincts and the ability to balance short-term roadmap needs with longer-term architectural direction. * Deep knowledge of enterprise governance concepts such as software development lifecycle governance, policy as code, enforcement patterns, and audit trail completeness in regulated environments. * Fluency in agentic AI concepts at the platform level, including harnesses, context, tools, MCP, skills, agent identity, registration, and session lifecycle. * Hands-on experience with AI agent platforms or major AI providers such as OpenAI, Claude, Amazon Bedrock, Vertex, or similar ecosystems. * Working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as the EU AI Act, ISO 42001, SOC 2, HIPAA, or related standards, and the ability to map product capabilities to customer compliance requirements. * Strong executive communication skills and comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous spaces where priorities can shift while the strategic direction stays clear. We are looking for a full-stack product builder — someone who obsesses over customer problems, drives discovery deeply, sets strategy, and ships. The role leads the Apps squad, owns the 0–1 rollout of CUBE’s MicroApps architecture, and brings agentic AI applications to market in partnership with CUBE’s agentic AI product team. It acts as the primary product voice for the Apps portfolio, engaging directly with enterprise clients and partners and contributing to commercial success and retention across both motions. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: * End-to-End Product Ownership: A full-stack product builder — owns the whole product arc from discovery and strategy through to delivery, launch, analytics, and iteration. Not a delivery-only or feature-only PM. * Customer Discovery: Obsesses over customer problems. Demonstrably skilled in problem discovery, user interviews, jobs-to-be-done thinking, and translating ambiguous customer pain into clear product opportunities. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: * Multiple years of product management experience in enterprise software, B2B SaaS, or platform applications. * Demonstrable track record as a full-stack product builder — owning the whole arc from discovery through to delivery and outcomes, not just one phase. * Strong customer discovery skills with concrete examples of finding meaningful customer problems and translating them into shipped products. * Hands-on experience building and shipping agentic AI products in an enterprise context — not just adjacent to AI features, but accountable for them: scoping, evaluating, productising, and taking them to market. * Experience shipping application products built on micro-frontend or modular application architectures, or a demonstrable track record of leading a 0–1 foundational application capability. * Experience with GRC platforms, regulatory technology, or financial services software preferred. * Proven track record of shipping application features that drive user adoption and measurable business outcomes. * Experience working directly with enterprise clients and partners, including discovery sessions and feedback workshops. * Strong analytical skills with experience defining and tracking product metrics. * Demonstrated proficiency with AI productivity tools for product management workflows.
