SOFTWARE ENGINEER, INFRASTRUCTURE At Rerun, we're building a new multimodal data stack for Physical l AI. Large parts of the physical-world economy will be transformed by these technologies, and we're building the data infrastructure and tools that enable it to happen. Rerun's open source project is already loved by some of the best teams in the world. Our commercial product, Rerun Hub, is a catalog and storage engine that already handles petabytes of robot training data for early customers, and we're now ready to onboard more teams. You'll join a small team building Rerun Hub, and you'll own the control plane that makes it run, including the Kubernetes operator that automates deploying Hub into customer environments. WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON * Own our Kubernetes operator: the control plane that provisions, configures, and manages Rerun Hub deployments across our own cloud infrastructure and inside customer accounts. This is real software engineering: CRDs, controllers, reconciliation, APIs, tests, releases. * Deep customer onboarding: When a customer brings new infrastructure requirements, you extend our control plane to accommodate that. Your reconcilers will make Rerun Hub work end-to-end from networking, IAM, storage to cluster configuration. * Production reliability and scale: Observability, CI/CD, incident response, and the deployment experience from local dev through staging to prod. * Follow-the-sun on-call with the rest of the team. WE'D LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE * A strong software engineering background. You think of infrastructure as software you build, not just systems you operate. * Deep Kubernetes experience, specifically with the operator pattern: you've designed CRDs, written controllers (controller-runtime / kubebuilder / operator-sdk), and shipped them to production. Earlier-career engineers with strong Go and distributed-systems/kubernetes fundamentals plus genuine interest in this work are equally welcome; we're hiring across levels. * Proficiency in Go, and ability to read and contribute to an asynchronous Rust codebase (or eagerness to learn; much of our stack is Rust). * Solid experience with AWS, infrastructure-as-code (ideally Terraform/OpenTofu), and production-grade observability. * Comfort being customer-adjacent: going into a customer's cloud account and doing the deep plumbing to onboard them. * Great communication in English, an ownership mindset, and a curious, helpful attitude. At Rerun, we’re building a new multimodal data stack for physical AI. Large parts of the physical-world economy will be transformed by these technologies, and we're building the data infrastructure and tools that enable it to happen. Data volumes grow big quickly with these applications and performance matters everywhere; from micro interactions to high throughput jobs. With multimodal data stack we mean tools for extraction, ingestion, storage, querying, streaming, and visualization of temporal multimodal data. Rerun’s open source project is already loved by some of the best teams in the world, and focuses on visualizing and handling multimodal logs. You'll join a newly formed team building out Rerun's commercial offering for ingesting, indexing and querying multimodal data at scale. We'd love it if you have * 3-5 years experience async Rust, or a solid background in another systems language such as C or C++ and a strong motivation to pick up Rust * Experience working on backend systems in production, with an interest in growing your ownership of design and architecture * Curiosity about the layers between your code and the hardware; you don't need to know them all, but you enjoy digging in * Exposure to data-intensive systems or an eagerness to learn what makes them tick * Familiarity with concepts like filtering, indexing, or query execution; even at a high level * Good communication skills in English: you'll be working in a close-knit remote team * A helpful attitude and a curious mind: we're all figuring this out together! About the Role We’re hiring a Software Engineer to join our Integrations team and help turn Kodex into the default “Bridge” between law enforcement, companies, and the external systems they already rely on. You’ll build and operate customer-facing integrations (APIs, identity federation, webhooks, imports/exports, and marketplace apps) that reduce manual work for customers, unblock new product workflows, and raise the reliability and security bar across the platform. This is an ideal role for backend leaning generalists who like working at the seams between systems: translating messy real-world requirements into clean designs, shipping end-to-end, and owning systems in production. We leverage AI-assisted, agentic development. We use these tools to move faster, but never ship code we can't explain, test and maintain. Security, correctness and discipline come first. What You’ll Do You’ll work closely with Product, Customer Success, and fellow engineers to design, develop, and ship integration capabilities that unlock new workflows. Upcoming work areas include: * Building external-facing APIs and “Bridge” infrastructure for ingest/egress of requests between Kodex and third-party systems (service-to-service auth, customer keys, request intake endpoints) * Shipping identity and verification integrations such as Sign in with Kodex (OIDC) and related security reviews, test environments, and customer enablement * Delivering cross-border / government portal integrations (e.g., e-Evidence-style workflows) that require careful spec compliance, auditing, and operational rigor * Productizing existing bespoke integrations into reusable, scalable primitives (migrations, standard connectors, consistent schemas) * Building self-serve integrations (e.g., marketplace-grade Slack app experiences) that eliminate manual setup and reduce on-call/customer support load * Improving reliability and observability across integration surfaces (rate limits, retries, idempotency, structured logging, dashboards, and runbooks) * Leverage AI Agents to accelerate implementation, refactors and debugging while staying accountable for the design and correctness of the system * Participating in on-call rotations to maintain system reliability and respond to incidents * Raising the bar on engineering quality through thoughtful architecture, testing, and pragmatic refactors You Might Be a Fit If You… * Have 4+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent) * Are strong in TypeScript and comfortable across Node.js backend + React frontend * Have experience with (or are excited to learn) Golang and security-focused infrastructure (e.g., AWS Nitro Enclaves, key management, sensitive data handling) * Have shipped and operated production APIs / integrations (REST/GraphQL, webhooks, queues, async workflows) * Understand (or are excited to learn deeply) authn/authz patterns such as OAuth2 / OIDC, service-to-service authentication, token hygiene, and secure-by-default interface design * Think carefully about reliability (timeouts, retries, idempotency, backfills, migrations, monitoring) and can debug production issues efficiently * You've used AI coding tools effectively in production and know how to guide them with strong engineering judgment (design, architecture, testing) * Can take ambiguous requirements (often from external partners) and turn them into clear designs and deliverables * Value pragmatism, autonomy, and a customer-first mindset Bonus: Experience with security reviews, compliance-heavy domains, marketplace app ecosystems (e.g., Slack), or large integration migrations.
