At Variance, we are using disruptive technologies to solve some of the digital age’s oldest and most complex problems with safe
and effective AI. Our platform helps fraud, Trust & Safety, and Risk & Compliance teams reduce time spent on repetitive manual
reviews and investigations, so they can focus on higher-value decisions. We are rapidly growing and already serve some of the
largest and fastest-growing social media, online marketplace, and financial services platforms.
We’re looking for a Product Designer to define how operators, investigators, and enterprise teams experience Variance. You will
own core product design across complex workflows, translating highly technical AI capabilities into clear, intuitive, and
trustworthy user experiences. You will work closely with founders, product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to design products
that help customers make faster, better, and more confident decisions in high-stakes risk environments.
This is an in-person position. Our office is located in San Francisco, CA.

About Jinba Jinba (jinba.io) is a Y Combinator (W26) company building AI workflow automation for the enterprise. We convert natural language prompts into live APIs and MCP servers, serving 40,000+ enterprise users, including major banks and insurance companies. The Role This is our first design hire. You'll be the product designer at a fast-moving AI company, shaping how enterprises interact with automation tools from the ground up. Until now, our founders and design engineers have owned UI/UX. As our product matures and our enterprise relationships deepen, we are building out our Product Org and looking for a Product Designer who can own the full design cycle, from discovery through to shipped product. You'll report to the Head of Growth and work closely with our founders and our product engineering team. What You'll Do * Discovery & Research: Talk directly to enterprise clients, study the competitive landscape, and identify opportunities to improve workflows and user experience. * Prototyping: Create low-fidelity concepts quickly, run them by engineers and stakeholders, iterate based on feedback, and develop high-fidelity designs ready for implementation. * Collaboration: Work side-by-side with product engineers from design through shipping. You're embedded in the build process, not handing off specs over a wall. * Product Thinking: Contribute to product strategy, not just pixels. Help us figure out what to build, not just how it looks. * Design Systems: Begin establishing design patterns and a component library that scales as our product and team grow. What We're Looking For * 3+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or enterprise software. * Strong portfolio showing end-to-end design work — from research and wireframes to polished, shipped UI. * Comfort working directly with engineers and speaking their language. You understand technical constraints and design within them. * Experience with enterprise UX — you know how to design for complex workflows, power users, and multi-step processes. * Proficiency in Figma (or equivalent) and prototyping tools. * Self-directed and high-agency. We're a small team; you'll have a lot of ownership. Nice to Have * Hands-on experience with AI/vibe coding tools. If you've used Cursor, Bolt, Lovable, v0, Claude Artifacts, Replit Agent, or similar tools extensively, you'll have strong intuition for the space we're designing in. * A point of view on AI UX. We want someone who's not just following trends but thinking ahead — someone who can identify interaction patterns that even the leading AI companies haven't nailed yet. * Experience designing for developer or technical audiences. Our users are building automations and APIs; understanding that mindset is a plus. Why Jinba * First design role at a YC-backed company with impressive revenue and enterprise traction. * Direct impact – your work ships to major financial institutions and enterprise clients. * Equity in an early-stage company with strong momentum. * Working on one of the most exciting problems in AI: making automation accessible to every enterprise.

WHO WE ARE Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion. Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work. ABOUT THE ROLE Imagine yourself in the 1970s or 80s thinking through how computing should look and feel for people who had never seen one before. That's what we're trying to do at Notion — make software that feels timeless, with the craftsmanship of German cameras, playfulness of Japanese toys, and mass appeal of Coca-Cola. We have no end of fascinating challenges that can only be solved by someone with innate product & UX sense, technical aptitude, great taste, and impeccable craft. This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days. WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE: * Design product concepts that balance vision, craft, speed, and business potential. * Craft every detail of new product features, from idea to UX to pixel-perfect execution. * Run projects end to end with engineers to drive your vision to the ship line. * Partner closely with our Customer Experience, Sales, and Customer Success teams to understand what each of our diverse user segments need, want, and love about Notion. Use this data and acquired intuition to prioritize, plan, and scope our product roadmap. * Work with Marketing to devise new ways to tell great stories throughout the user lifecycle, and across our site, product, help guides and other channels. * Create new patterns that are intuitive, practical, and convergent. Evolve our design system intentionally as we scale. SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO BRING: * You have well-rounded skills and experience to run projects independently end to end. 5+ years of working experience. * You seek to understand the needs of customers then explore and advocate for the strongest user experiences to solve their problems * You enjoy untangling vague conceptual problems and have a sharp intuition for the most accessible mental models and flows, so users can immediately start gaining value out of the product. * You create clear, intuitive, and visually appealing human interfaces. * You care about business needs, implications, and practicality of your designs. You don't get stuck on pretty UI or deep abstractions and can balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line. * You have strong beliefs, loosely held. You're a good listener who collaborates well with different stakeholders. You observe and internalize all inputs and feedback to help you reach an optimal decision. * You understand how to tell stories using both words and visuals, and strategize the best ways to drive alignment. * You value working cross-functionally with project management, engineering, research and data — as well as design peers. NICE TO HAVES: * You've designed and built great tools with small teams in the past. * You bring unique strengths and perspectives to the team. We're looking to build a diverse team where our skills and experience can complement each other. * You've experienced the pain of fragmented tools and information silos created by them, and have a strong urge to fix it. * You're familiar with the work of computing heroes like Douglas Engelbart, Alan Kay, Bret Victor, etc. — and understand why we're big fans. * You are a designer who can code! Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary range for this role is $285,000 - $330,000 per year. By clicking “Submit Application”, I understand and agree that Notion and its affiliates and subsidiaries will collect and process my information in accordance with Notion’s Global Recruiting Privacy Policy and NYLL 144. #LI-Onsite A NOTE ON AI You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY & ACCOMMODATIONS We hire talented people from a wide range of backgrounds.
