ENGINEERING LEAD: REGIONAL PAYMENTS  We are seeking an experienced and visionary Engineering Lead to lead our engineering efforts across LATAM. You will be instrumental in developing and scaling payment innovations for our merchants, while leveraging this knowledge for global impact. This role requires a strong strategic mindset to work in lock-step with product and commercial leadership, ensuring the delivery of our regional strategy and contributing to our global platform. This highly visible position requires working across time zones, aligning with diverse internal and external stakeholders, and challenging the status quo. What You'll Do As the Engineering Lead (LATAM), reporting to the SVP of Payments and collaborating with peers globally, your focus will be: * Provide clear guidance, purpose, and mission for engineering teams. * Create an environment that fosters continuous innovation, and be at the forefront of payments in the region. * A people-first leader. Develop and build a best-in-class team comprising the right skills to lead and win. * Serve as the primary face of engineering for our merchants in the region you are responsible for, building strong relationships and understanding their unique requirements. * Partner globally to ensure the delivery on one global platform while meeting the specific needs of the market. * Accountable for the execution of key projects, ensuring timely delivery, tracking progress, removing blockers, and assisting with planning and prioritization as needed. Who You Are * 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years as a leader - building and mentoring high-performing engineering teams within global companies, with a track record of delivering complex, scalable platforms. * Experience hiring and managing a sizeable software development organization (ideally 25-50 engineers), including managing managers, and setting an exemplary engineering culture. * Skilled in building large-scale, distributed systems, ideally with expertise in Java or similar programming languages, and a passion for software architecture, scalability, and maintainability. * Experience in the Payments Industry. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills and you are capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise language, You are a great story teller, and are comfortable talking to tech & non-tech audiences, as well as merchants and internal stakeholders. * You are comfortable streamlining the team's engineering operations, refining product requirements together with product and merchants and encouraging effective collaboration. * You like to keep things simple, love dealing with uncertainty and get things done.  * You’re curious about what our biggest merchants are facing and you’re empathetic to solving problems that help all merchants. * Able to communicate in English and Portuguese (Both fluent). * This role is based out of our Sao Jose dos Campos office (3 days in person). While all roles share a strong technical foundation, each team brings a unique focus in scaling our unified platform, We'll explore the best team fit together throughout the interview process. What you’ll do: * Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launch into production. * Be hands-on and contribute to the implementation. * Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable. * Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices.  * Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features. * We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers.  * Build APIs and tooling according to quality principles such as performance and code quality. * Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line. Who you are: * Familiar with complex large scale distributed systems. * You have experience with Java, Web Services, REST Apis, Webhooks and SQL/PostgreSql. * You have a good understanding of Software Engineering practices and interest in product knowledge. * You enjoy working in a cross-functional team with roles like Data Science, Frontend, and Product. * You value involving other people to hear different perspectives. * You have an experimental mindset with a launch fast and iterate mentality.
