About the role We’re seeking a Software Engineer with full-stack capabilities, someone who’s passionate about building intuitive, high-quality user experiences on the frontend, and who can also architect and support the backend infrastructure required to deliver those experiences reliably at global scale. The Analytics Hub is a critical initiative designed to be Acast’s single, unified platform for consumption and revenue data. This data will be from a number of sources and be in different formats and represent different concepts, so building a user interface to compare and contrast that data involves a lot of complex decisions. We then also want to take it further, offering pro-active recommendations on how these insights can be used to improve Creator’s content by helping them understand what chimes with their audience. You will work in an autonomous, purpose driven team and take an important role in shipping new features while continuously increasing efficiency, stability and scalability of the systems. You are expected to contribute to software development within your team but we also expect everyone to understand and contribute to other areas of the product development. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment with agile principles. We run our infrastructure and systems on AWS. The systems are written in Node.js and Typescript and you are expected to work with and be interested in that. We support our own systems and infrastructure in production. Who you are * You have experience with Node.js, Typescript and React * You have experience working with AI and are proficient in utilising it where appropriate * You have experience building delightful end user facing applications and the backend infrastructure to support them * You have experience in working with AWS or similar * You have a pragmatic mindset and can make trade-offs on what to optimise for and when to ship * You are keen to mentor others in the technical aspects you are already an expert in and you value working in a diverse team with developers of all experience and backgrounds. You value other people’s input no matter their experience level. Location Most of our teams are hybrids with some members co-located in offices and some working fully remote. With a remote first way of working we want you to feel productive regardless of work location. For this role, you can be based in the UK or Sweden. We have offices in London and Stockholm but it is optional if you want to work remote or at the office. JOIN THE DATA & AI JOURNEY AT SCHIBSTED MEDIA Data and AI are becoming increasingly important in how we build better products, support smarter decisions, and create value across Schibsted Media. We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Infrastructure team and help build the shared data platform that powers analytics and AI across Schibsted Media. Our team enables data teams to build trusted, scalable, and well-governed data products. In this role, you will work at the intersection of data engineering and platform engineering. You'll help improve our data platform while also contributing to trusted data models, modern data pipelines, and engineering practices used across the organization. You will join the Data & AI organization, where we build data capabilities that help teams across Schibsted Media make better decisions, create trusted data products, and enable future AI use cases. ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for someone with 4+ years of experience who enjoys building solid data solutions while improving the shared data platform that enables teams across Schibsted Media. You'll work with technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and Python to develop shared tooling, maintain platform capabilities, and contribute to modern data engineering practices. You'll also help deploy and manage cloud infrastructure, automate operational tasks, and continuously improve the reliability and scalability of our platform. While prior infrastructure experience is a plus, we're looking for someone who is eager to learn and grow in this area. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Collaborate with Data & AI teams to understand platform needs and deliver scalable data solutions * Design, build, and improve shared data platform capabilities, developer tooling, data pipelines, and automation using technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and Python * Support and evolve our Privacy Compliance Platform, helping enable secure, compliant, and governed access to data across Schibsted Media * Deploy, maintain, and improve cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and modern automation practices * Improve reliability, observability, performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability of our data platform * Develop reusable templates, tooling, and documentation that enable self-service across Data & AI teams * Develop maintainable data models that support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases * Contribute to good practices for data modeling, transformation, testing, documentation, and governance * Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement of our ways of working * Contribute to a culture of ownership, learning, and collaboration WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR MUST HAVE * 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role * Strong SQL skills and a good understanding of modern data warehousing concepts * Experience building data pipelines and working with orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar * Hands-on experience with dbt and modern data transformation practices * Experience with Python for data engineering or automation * Experience with Git and modern software engineering practices * Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver maintainable solutions * Good communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You'll own the systems that keep our data consistent, queryable, and discoverable across an evolving landscape of storage and indexing technologies. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Design, build, and operate production database systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and correctness at scale. * Architect and maintain real-time sync pipelines between primary databases and secondary query stores (e.g., search, vector, graph, analytics). * Own schema versioning and distribution. Packaging, publishing, and evolving database and event schemas across teams. * Evaluate and integrate secondary indexing technologies as the needs of our AI-powered products change. * Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and accessible in near real time. WHO YOU ARE * A deep generalist on the data infrastructure side with genuine expertise in how databases behave under real production conditions. * Self-driven and confident, taking full ownership of your work. * Pragmatic but quality-conscious, knowing when to move fast and when to build for the long term. * Based in Sweden with a valid work permit. REQUIRED SKILLS * Hands-on relational database experience: query optimization, schema design, scaling, and operational concerns. Strong SQL experience is also required. * Proven experience syncing databases in near real time, database-to-database or database-to-query-store (e.g., Typesense, Elasticsearch) * Experience with at least one secondary indexing category: search, vector, graph, or analytics. * Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably AWS. A plus, but not required * Experience with CDC and event streaming technologies such as Kafka or NATS. * Familiarity with data catalog or data platform tooling, e.g., Confluent, Databricks, Redpanda, or similar. * Python or TypeScript proficiency.
