Commercial Operations Manager

We are now looking for a Drug product specialist (also known as Process Scientist) to join our Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) team at AstraZeneca in Södertälje. About the role As a Drug Product Specialist, you will be responsible for the scientific and technical aspects of new product introductions, technology transfers, and commercial manufacturing support within drug product processes. The role covers both the implementation of new processes and support for existing commercial products. You will contribute scientific expertise in areas such as formulation, aseptic filling, lyophilization, and visual inspection. Key responsibilities for a Drug Product Specialist: * Lead the scientific aspects in new product introductions and technology transfers for drug product processes * Ensure commercial process robustness through process understanding, risk assessments, technical studies, data analysis, and sound scientific recommendations * Lead process validation/process performance qualification * Lead/contribute to Product Maintenance * Provide product specific scientific and technical support to ongoing commercial operations, * Contribute to the development of ways of working, digital templates, and risk-based approaches to enable consistency and efficiency across MS&T activities * Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, QA, QC, Supply Chain, global teams, development functions, and external partners * Contribute to GMP documentation and regulatory submissions Who we are looking for We are looking for someone with a strong scientific foundation who thrives in an environment where science meets manufacturing. You are also flexible in adapting to new ways of working or identifying improvements to increase organisational effectiveness. Essential for the role (requirements for the matrix in FG: * MSc or higher, in biotechnology, chemical engineering, pharmacy, or another relevant life science or engineering discipline * 3+ years of experience in biologics, pharmaceutical development, technology transfer or commercial manufacturing, with a focus on drug product * Experience in one or more relevant areas such as formulation, aseptic filling, lyophilization, and visual inspection * Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken Desirable requirements: * A PhD or other advanced specialization in a relevant field * Previous experience at AstraZeneca * Experience working in global and cross-functional teams * Knowledge of single-use systems, isolator technology, or finished pack manufacturing * Previous experience with project management * Knowledge of digital transformation and AI applications in manufacturing, process monitoring, or technical support activities Soft skills: We’re looking for someone who is organized, analytical, adaptable, and detail-oriented. We are looking for a Category Manager – Strategic Sourcing to take ownership of one of our most critical sourcing categories as we scale and industrialize our supply chain. You are responsible for one of Candela's most critical sourcing categories, primarily focused on High Voltage systems and components. Working closely with Engineering, Product and Production teams, you secure the right suppliers and commercial solutions to support new product development and serial production. Your work directly impacts our ability to develop products and scale production. This is a broad, hands-on role where no two days look the same. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, enjoys solving difficult problems and does what's needed to move the business forward. Responsibilities * Own the sourcing strategy and supplier base for your categories. * Lead supplier selection, negotiations and contracting. * Build and develop strategic supplier relationships to drive long-term performance. * Partner closely with Engineering, Quality and Production to support new product development, industrialization and production. * Drive improvements in cost, quality, delivery, sustainability, product performance and supply resilience. * Contribute to the continuous development of Candela's sourcing organization, processes and supplier network. * Challenge the status quo and continuously improve how we work. Qualifications * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent. * 5+ years of experience in direct material sourcing with category responsibility. * Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills. * Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and drive initiatives from idea to implementation. * Strong analytical skills and data fluency, with the ability to turn data into insights and decisions. * Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decisions. * Thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities change quickly and no one has all the answers. Nice-to-haves * Experience sourcing high-voltage components, battery systems or power electronics. * Experience from automotive, marine, aerospace or other high-tech manufacturing. * Experience from a high-growth environment. * Advanced user of digital tools and AI to improve sourcing performance and ways of working.
