Now, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our new Data Catalog team and play a key role in building the data backbone that powers Quartr's financial intelligence. You'll own the systems that keep our data consistent, queryable, and discoverable across an evolving landscape of storage and indexing technologies. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Design, build, and operate production database systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and correctness at scale. * Architect and maintain real-time sync pipelines between primary databases and secondary query stores (e.g., search, vector, graph, analytics). * Own schema versioning and distribution. Packaging, publishing, and evolving database and event schemas across teams. * Evaluate and integrate secondary indexing technologies as the needs of our AI-powered products change. * Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and accessible in near real time. WHO YOU ARE * A deep generalist on the data infrastructure side with genuine expertise in how databases behave under real production conditions. * Self-driven and confident, taking full ownership of your work. * Pragmatic but quality-conscious, knowing when to move fast and when to build for the long term. * Based in Sweden with a valid work permit. REQUIRED SKILLS * Hands-on relational database experience: query optimization, schema design, scaling, and operational concerns. Strong SQL experience is also required. * Proven experience syncing databases in near real time, database-to-database or database-to-query-store (e.g., Typesense, Elasticsearch) * Experience with at least one secondary indexing category: search, vector, graph, or analytics. * Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably AWS. A plus, but not required * Experience with CDC and event streaming technologies such as Kafka or NATS. * Familiarity with data catalog or data platform tooling, e.g., Confluent, Databricks, Redpanda, or similar. * Python or TypeScript proficiency. ABOUT THE DATA EXTRACTION TEAM Our Document Extraction team turns unstructured financial content into reliable, structured knowledge. We work with financial filings, earnings call slide decks and earnings call transcripts. The goal is not just to pull text off a page, but to understand what a document means, structure it cleanly, and produce knowledge that downstream teams and products can trust. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to own the extraction and structuring pipelines end to end. You will design the systems that ingest messy, real-world documents and output accurate, well-modeled data at scale. This is a hands-on engineering role with deep ownership, suited to someone who is equally comfortable building robust pipelines and reasoning about data quality. WHO YOU ARE * 5+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer with a focus on Python * Hands-on experience with NLP and large language models, including prompting, fine-tuning, or retrieval-based approaches. * Practical experience with document AI, OCR, or information extraction from PDFs and other unstructured formats. * Experience designing data schemas and building pipelines that produce structured, validated output. Key Responsibilities Full-Stack System Design & Implementation: * Design and build backend services in Go for distributed, cloud-native applications. * Build frontend applications that connect users to data, workflows and AI-powered capabilities. * Build APIs and event-driven components across e-commerce, logistics, data and AI platforms. * Design systems with scalability, resilience and observability in mind. Database Design & Data Ownership: * Design application-level data models and database schemas. * Make informed trade-offs between storage approaches. * Understand query patterns and performance implications. * Integrate operational systems with analytics and ML pipelines. Agentic AI Applications: * Build production-grade agentic AI applications that integrate LLMs with real systems and workflows. * Design services that enable AI agents to act safely with business data. * Collaborate with ML and data engineers to operationalize AI in real products — not demos. * Help define guardrails and patterns for reliable AI-driven systems. Engineering Excellence: * Write clean, maintainable, production-quality code across backend and frontend. * Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions. * Build automated tests and CI/CD pipelines. * Take responsibility for production reliability and incident resolution. * Improve engineering standards, tooling and AI-assisted coding workflows. We are looking for someone with: * Strong experience as a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer building production systems. * Proven experience with Go (Golang) in backend environments. * Solid understanding of distributed systems and modern architectures. * Experience building frontend applications. * Experience with database design and application data modeling. * Strong fundamentals: testing, versioning, CI/CD, documentation and code quality. * Ownership mindset and ability to balance speed and quality. * Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude. Nice to Have * Experience with A/B testing or experimentation frameworks. * Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming systems. * Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures. * Experience building AI-powered or agentic applications. * Exposure to high-scale e-commerce, logistics or data-heavy environments. * Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, CDK or CloudFormation.
