Hacksaw Studios is a Stockholm-based game studio focused on creating innovative, high-quality gaming experiences. With a focus on performance and precision, we bring ideas to life through technical expertise and creative collaboration. We have wide distribution, and our games are played by millions of people every month by players all over the world.
We’re now expanding our tech team and looking for skilled Framework Developers who want to help us build and refine the foundation that powers our games.
The Role
As a Framework Developer at Hacksaw Studios, you’ll work together with our game development teams to deliver the features and tools they rely on. The work includes both building new functionality and maintaining, refining and optimising existing code. You'll think holistically about each feature you implement, how it impacts long term developer productivity, usability and performance across memory, GPU and CPU.
The framework team is also responsible for areas such as CI pipelines, end-to-end tests and build scripts (including asset optimization and more). Depending on your interests and skillset there is a wide range of technologies you can dive into. We keep meetings to a minimum and there is a lot of freedom and responsibility in prioritising tasks and defining scopes, perfect for someone who communicates well, enjoys finding the right solution and likes having focused time to get things done.
Develop and maintain features, tools, and systems used by our game teams.
Improve performance, usability, and reliability across our framework.
Considering long-term implications of implmentations, including developer experience, usability and performance.
Collaborate with developers and designers to identify and solve technical challenges.
Participate in reviews and provide feedback on code and implementation.
Experience with one or more programming languages suited for game development, such as C#, C++, TypeScript or Haxe.
Experience with different game development frameworks with some understanding of their structure and how to handle rendering. Ideally with games targeting web.
A proactive mindset with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership.
Experience developing modules used by other developers.
Interest in performance optimization.
Our tech stack includes git, TypeScript, Linux, bash, Bun, Docker, Cucumber, GitLab and AWS. Familiarity with any of those tools are beneficial but not required.
A personal interest in games and an understanding of the gaming industry.

Our games run on infrastructure that has to work - at scale, under pressure, with real players on the other end. If you're the kind of engineer who gets quietly annoyed when something could be more reliable, more automated, or more elegant, and then actually goes and fixes it, this might be the right role for you. About the role You'll be a key part of building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that powers our games. Working closely with our client and backend developers, you'll make sure our services are scalable, secure, and running smoothly - so our game teams can focus on making great games rather than fighting fires. This is a hands-on role. You'll design and own infrastructure, build CI/CD pipelines, develop microservices, and drive automation across the stack. You'll also work directly with game teams to support releases and live operations - which means you'll need to be comfortable operating across disciplines, not just inside a silo. What you'll be doing • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure for our backend services and tools • Deploy and monitor backend services, managing performance and minimising downtime • Develop and maintain scalable microservices to support game functionality and growth • Build, implement, and optimise CI/CD pipelines for reliable software delivery • Drive automation across infrastructure to increase speed and reduce manual work • Support game teams with tooling and documentation for releases and live operations What we need from you • Proven hands-on experience as an SRE or DevOps engineer – you will be taking over from our sole responsible and leading the space in the studio. • Strong infrastructure and networking knowledge: DNS, VPCs, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, certificate management, and Kubernetes ingress • IAM and security experience: OAUTH, SAML, and federated identity management in GCP and AWS • Hands-on experience with: Terraform, GKE/EKS, Packer, Git, ArgoCD, Grafana, GCP Monitoring, BigQuery • Experience with CI/CD and development tools: GitHub Actions, Slack, Unity SCM or similar Useful but not required • Strong scripting or programming background - C#, Rust, Python or similar • Experience in game development or the games industry • Familiarity with the specific requirements of AR and VR games • Experience driving security initiatives • Willingness to pick up new tools: Rust, PowerShell, Agones/Open-Match Who you are You are proactive and collaborative - you spot problems before they become incidents and you build solutions that others can use, not just workarounds that only make sense to you. YOUR MISSION AT VOI As an Engineering Manager at Voi, you will lead and grow a cross-functional product team while staying close to the code. This role is ideal for a strong technical lead ready to take a first step into people management – someone who wants to shape team culture, support engineers’ growth, and drive delivery without leaving their technical roots behind. The Monetisation team owns Voi’s core payment flows, subscriptions, upsell and in-app advertising. The technical scope spans core backend systems, payment integrations, native mobile client views and more. This is an excellent opportunity to grow into leadership while having a tangible impact on the micromobility industry. Be a present, hands-on leader for a team of 4–5 engineers: run 1:1s, support growth and create a safe, collaborative environment where people do their best work. WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK You are a hands-on, collaborative engineer with a passion for both technology and people. You enjoy working across domains, take ownership of delivery and are curious about how AI can elevate the way teams build software. 4+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer in modern tech stacks, building reliable software in a fast-paced environment. A generalist mindset with experience in backend, web and/or mobile development. 2+ years of experience in a tech lead, senior or informal leadership capacity – you have guided others technically, even if you have not held a management title. No prior people management experience required – this is a growth area we will support you in. Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (for example modern code assistants) and a genuine interest in agentic engineering workflows. You lean into these tools and help your team build the skillset to use them effectively. As a Game Engineer UI/UX you will have a creative role, working together with designers, other engineers, artists, and user experience (UX) researchers to improve and develop new features for our game.
