YOUR MISSION AT VOI As an Engineering Manager at Voi, you will lead and grow a cross-functional product team while staying close to the code. This role is ideal for a strong technical lead ready to take a first step into people management – someone who wants to shape team culture, support engineers’ growth, and drive delivery without leaving their technical roots behind. The Monetisation team owns Voi’s core payment flows, subscriptions, upsell and in-app advertising. The technical scope spans core backend systems, payment integrations, native mobile client views and more. This is an excellent opportunity to grow into leadership while having a tangible impact on the micromobility industry. * Be a present, hands-on leader for a team of 4–5 engineers: run 1:1s, support growth and create a safe, collaborative environment where people do their best work. * Partner closely with the Product Manager and Designer to align on priorities, shape the roadmap and drive high-quality delivery. * Lead by doing: write code, review PRs and engage deeply in technical decisions across backend, web and mobile. * Champion engineering excellence by guiding architectural decisions, fostering good development practices and promoting continuous improvement – enabling sustainably rapid delivery in a complex micromobility business. * Coach and develop engineers through feedback, mentorship and clear expectations – with support from us if this is your first formal people management role. * Lead the team in adopting agentic engineering practices: actively use and encourage AI-assisted development and help engineers build the habits and judgement to get the most out of these tools. * Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture aligned with Voi’s values, and be a driver for inclusion and psychological safety within your team. WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK You are a hands-on, collaborative engineer with a passion for both technology and people. You enjoy working across domains, take ownership of delivery and are curious about how AI can elevate the way teams build software. * 4+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer in modern tech stacks, building reliable software in a fast-paced environment. * A generalist mindset with experience in backend, web and/or mobile development. * 2+ years of experience in a tech lead, senior or informal leadership capacity – you have guided others technically, even if you have not held a management title. * No prior people management experience required – this is a growth area we will support you in. * Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (for example modern code assistants) and a genuine interest in agentic engineering workflows. You lean into these tools and help your team build the skillset to use them effectively. * Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate both technical and cross-functional conversations with ease. * Fluency in English, written and spoken. Typical work includes: * Designing AI-native architectures and intelligent systems * Building and deploying LLM-based applications in production * Implementing RAG solutions across large and complex information landscapes * Designing agent-based workflows and autonomous system behaviours * Defining governance, observability and evaluation strategies for AI systems * Integrating AI capabilities into existing products, platforms and business processes * Evaluating trade-offs around performance, reliability, cost and control * Supporting clients in their AI transformation journey * Contributing to the development of Knowit's AI strategy and AI offerings WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We're primarily looking for senior profiles with hands-on experience in applied AI. You likely have experience with several of the following: * Building applications using LLMs * Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases * Agent frameworks and orchestration platforms * System architecture and distributed systems * Python or similar programming languages * Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP * Evaluation, monitoring and optimisation of AI systems * Data engineering and integration of complex information sources Experience with enterprise architecture, platform engineering or large-scale software development is highly valuable. The Role As Lead Security Engineer, you will define, implement, and evolve security practices across AWS (serverless-first), e-commerce, logistics, and data platforms. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on engineering — you will implement security yourself while empowering others to do so. You will act as the first-line technical security lead, defining guardrails, monitoring risks, and leading incident response. You will develop secure practices for coding with AI assistants, ensuring generated code meets security standards, avoids data leakage, and aligns with regulations. You will also communicate complex security concepts clearly across the organization. Hands-On Security Engineering * Design and implement secure AWS serverless and data-driven systems. * Lead IAM practices, enforcing least-privilege and zero-trust. * Oversee vulnerability management, penetration testing, and patching. * Ensure secure DevSecOps pipelines and IaC security. Monitoring & Incident Response * Build and operate monitoring, detection, and alerting systems (SIEM, EDR, GuardDuty, Security Hub). * Lead incident response: investigate, contain, and recover from security events. * Maintain and test playbooks for emerging threats. Governance & Compliance * Ensure GDPR, healthcare regulations, and industry standards compliance. * Embed security and privacy by design across development. * Partner with legal, compliance, and business units for regulatory readiness. * Provide training and frameworks for safe AI usage without compromising security. Collaboration & Culture * Work closely with engineers, architects, and product teams to integrate security early. * Mentor engineers in secure coding and infrastructure practices. * Advocate for a strong security culture. Qualifications * Extensive experience as a security engineer and organization’s main security expert. * Proven expertise in securing AWS (IAM, networking, serverless, encryption, monitoring). * Strong background in designing secure, scalable, cloud-native systems. * Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, secrets management. * Deep knowledge in DevSecOps and IaC (CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation). * Programming/scripting skills: Go, TypeScript, .NET, Python, or similar. Nice to Have: experience in regulated industries, compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS), or red/blue team operations.
