Job Description WHAT YOU’LL DO Lead the design, maintenance, and evolution of conceptual and logical information models that enable shared understanding of core business concepts across the organization. Own and contribute to central information architecture artefacts such as the Enterprise Data Model and Data Domain Map, ensuring alignment across domains and initiatives. Drive the definition and consistent use of business terminology, taxonomies, and ontologies, enabling a common language between business and technology. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data product teams, solution architects, and engineers to translate business needs into clear information models that guide downstream implementations. Define and maintain standards, guardrails, and best practices for information architecture and modelling, ensuring they are pragmatic and usable in a fast‑changing environment. Ensure that information models support interoperability, reuse, and long‑term scalability across the solution landscape. Assess current (as‑is) data flows for core business objects and design target (to‑be) views that support future business needs. Actively support and enable data governance and metadata practices, in close collaboration with Data Governance colleagues. Educate, guide, and coach stakeholders and architects, helping to embed information architecture thinking across teams. Contribute to continuous improvement of architecture tooling and ways of working, including integration with data catalogues and metadata management tools. WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH You will work closely with business domain experts, Data Domain Owners, Data Stewards, solution architects, data engineers, analytics teams, and data governance colleagues. Together, you will establish shared language, trusted information structures, and clear architectural guidance that support data‑driven initiatives and future AI and analytics use cases. WHO YOU ARE We are looking for someone who has: Several years of experience working as an Information Architect or in closely related architecture roles, with a strong focus on conceptual and logical modelling. Proven ability to translate complex business concepts into clear information models, taxonomies, and definitions. Experience working with enterprise‑level architecture artefacts such as enterprise data models, domain maps, or similar structures. Strong understanding of how information architecture, data management, and data governance work together. Experience defining and documenting standards, guardrails, and modelling guidelines. Hands‑on experience with architecture and modelling tools (e.g. Sparx EA, Erwin, LeanIX or similar) and familiarity with data catalogues or metadata tooling. Hands‑on experience with ontology or semantic standards (e.g. RDF, OWL, SKOS, SPARQL) or equivalent conceptual modelling approaches. Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to educate and influence both business and technical stakeholders. And someone who: Has a holistic mindset, seeing the big picture while still being able to work hands‑on with models and definitions. Is comfortable operating in a low‑maturity environment, helping the organisation move step‑by‑step toward more structured and shared ways of working. Can take ownership, work independently, and drive progress without everything being fully defined upfront. Enjoys mentoring and coaching others, contributing to a strong and collaborative architecture community. Is curious, pragmatic, and motivated to continuously improve how information is structured and understood across the organisation. Job Description The Data & Information Architect is accountable for defining and embedding a shared Data & Analytics architecture. This role provides practical architectural guardrails, establishes clear ownership and decision rights for data domains, and enables analytics use cases to be delivered through standard, compliant patterns - without ad-hoc data handling or policy exceptions. You will work across product, platform, and domain teams to ensure data is modelled consistently, governed effectively, and usable for operational, analytical, and advanced analytics use cases. Main Duties and Responsibilities Data & Analytics Architecture * Define, document, and maintain the target Data & Analytics architecture, covering data domains, ingestion pipelines, analytics layers, and access patterns. * Contribute to the definition of architectural guardrails that explain what teams must do—not just what they must avoid. * Provide approved (“golden path”) patterns for data ingestion, analytics, and reporting aligned with security, privacy, and governance requirements. Common Domain & Canonical Modelling * Define and govern the Common Domain Model, establishing shared semantic definitions for core maritime concepts such as vessel, seafarer, voyage, cargo, port call, certificate, and contract. * Design and evolve a technology-neutral Canonical Data Model (CDM) to standardise data exchange for targeted integrations. * Ensure consistency between operational data models and analytical representations to support reporting and advanced analytics. Ownership, Governance & Decision-Making * Establish and document clear ownership and stewardship for data domains, datasets, and analytics platforms. * Define decision rights and resolve cross-domain data design conflicts in collaboration with domain and platform leaders. * Drive metadata management, glossary definitions, and lineage standards to improve discoverability, traceability, and regulatory compliance (e.g. IMO, EU MRV, ESG). Analytics Enablement * Ensure the data architecture enables scalable reporting, self-service analytics, and ML-ready data without ad-hoc handling. * Work with analytics and data scientists to align data structures, pipelines, and access patterns with real analytical use cases. * Balance operational and analytical needs across real-time events, reporting, and historical analysis. Collaboration & Architecture Practice * Embed data architecture decisions into Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and architecture review forums. * Act as a bridge between domain experts, product managers, platform teams, and delivery teams to ensure data architecture is understood, adopted, and applied. * Contribute to the evolution of platform-wide architecture standards and review practices. Standards & Industry Alignment * Align the company's data models with relevant maritime and logistics standards (e.g. S-100, IMO/ISO/EDIFACT, BIMCO, DCSA) where appropriate, while supporting proprietary innovation. * Evaluate emerging data and analytics practices and recommend improvements aligned with the company's strategy. Skills and Qualifications * 5+ years’ experience in data architecture, information architecture, or enterprise data modelling roles. * Strong expertise in canonical data modelling and semantic modelling across complex, distributed systems. * Experience defining data architectures that support both operational and analytical use cases. * Familiarity with event-driven architectures, APIs, and cloud-native data platforms (e.g. data lakes, data hubs, event buses). * Proven experience working with domain-driven design (DDD) teams in agile product organisations. * Ability to influence decisions and drive adoption without formal authority.
