WHY WE NEED YOU We are standing up forward deployed engineering for our U.S. Federal business. This is a new, senior, high-visibility position - the first of its kind on our U.S. team - created to support a major federal civilian customer as our vetting and open-source investigative capabilities scale for National Security mission sets. This role is not a help desk function nor a back-office integration job. This position requires someone who understands government customers, can hold a technical conversation with engineers and a mission conversation with analysts, and can operate independently inside a customer environment while representing Maltego with credibility. This position is intentionally designed as a hybrid technical leadership role that bridges customer mission success, product evolution, and deployment execution. The Senior Forward Deployed Engineer / Senior Solutions Architect serves as the primary technical interface between Maltego Federal, government stakeholders, and internal engineering teams, requiring a balanced focus across customer engagement, solution delivery, and strategic growth activities. In short, you are the bridge between a sophisticated government mission set and our engineering organization, and you will own the technical relationship as the account expands across the enterprise. WHAT TO EXPECT As Maltego Federal's first Forward Deployed Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical representative within a strategic federal customer environment, ensuring mission requirements are successfully translated into deployed, operational capabilities. Your responsibilities will include: * Customer Technical Leadership * Serve as the embedded technical lead and trusted advisor to government analysts, program managers, and technical stakeholders. * Lead requirements discovery sessions, workflow design workshops, and operational reviews. * Guideanalyst adoption and ensure mission outcomes are achieved through effective platform utilization. * Translate customer requirements into actionable engineering, product, and deployment priorities. * Establish and maintain trusted technical relationships across customer organizations. * Integration and Solution Development * Design and implement end-to-end integration architectures connecting Maltegointo customer systems, enclaves, and third-party technologies. * Develop and guide custom transforms, automations, and integrations * Support data-source onboarding, identity resolution workflows, and automated discovery processes. * Deliver scalable technical solutions that extend platform capabilities within customer environments. * Deployment, Security, and Accreditation Support * Support deployment activities across SaaS, government-hosted, and classified environments. * Contribute technical artifacts and documentation supporting ATO and accreditation efforts. * Validate solution performance, security controls, and operational readiness. * Support pilot deployments, initial operating capability, and enterprise rollout activities. * Product Feedback and Operational Optimization * Evaluate AI classifier performance, detection accuracy, precision/recall trade-offs, and analyst review workflows. * Measure operational outcomes and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency. * Convert customer feedback into prioritized, evidence-based requirements for engineering and product teams. * Act as a conduit between customer users, product management, and engineering. * Federal Growth and Practice Development * Support technical solutioning, demonstrations, and responses to government requirements. * Identify opportunities for account expansion and increased mission impact. * Contribute to the development of forward-deployed engineering methodologies, playbooks, and best practices. * Help establish the foundation for a scalable Federal Forward Deployed Engineering organization as the business grows YOUR PROFILE IN SHORT * Active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level or above, currently in scope. TS/SCI preferred. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience considered. * 5+ years in solutions architecture, forward-deployed engineering, technical consulting, field systems engineering, or systems integration with a substantial portion supporting U.S. Government customers. * Demonstrated experience as the technical face of a product or program inside a government customer site, including direct interaction with end users, program managers, and CIO/technical authorities. * Strong Python development skills and practical API integration experience. * Working knowledge of cloud hosting (AWS preferred), virtualization, containerization, and distributed systems. * Understanding of secure system architecture, information assurance concepts, and deployment into regulated or accredited environments. * Ability to run a technical workstream end-to-end - scoping, delivery, testing, deployment, and handover - with minimal supervision. * Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate between mission language and engineering language in both directions. * Willingness to travel up to 40%,including to overseas posts. Preferred qualifications * Prior service with or direct support to the U.S. Department of State, particularly the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the Bureau of Consular Affairs, or the CIO/Diplomatic Technology organization. * Familiarity with the Authority to Operate (ATO) process, RMF, FedRAMP, or equivalent accreditation pathways. * Background in OSINT, SOCMINT, identity resolution, vetting, screening, or adjudication workflows. * Experience with data acquisition strategy — evaluating and onboarding commercial and open data sources against cost, coverage, and mission fit. * Exposure to machine learning classifier evaluation in an operational setting (precision/recall tuning, false positive management under limited PII). * Experience as a Field Service Representative or equivalent embedded technical role. * Familiarity with the Maltego platform or comparable link analysis and investigative tooling. ABOUT THIS OPENING Equal Opportunity: Maltego Federal LLC is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation and verification of clearance eligibility. WHY YOU WILL LOVE MALTEGO What we offer: * A first-in-seat role with real scope: you will shape how forward deployed engineering works at Maltego in the U.S., not inherit someone else's playbook. * Direct access to leadership and to the engineering and product teams building the capability you deploy. * Work that visibly matters, on programs with national security significance. * Competitive base salary, comprehensive health coverage, 401(k), and paid time off. * A motivated, international team and the pace of a growing technology company. LOCATION Washington, DC metro area: Hybrid with onsite at customer facilities REQUIRED DOCUMENTS / INFORMATION Please submit a resume outlining your relevant federal program experience and clearance status, along with a brief statement of interest.
The Role: We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to be the bridge between F2's platform and the real-world complexity of our most important enterprise clients. You'll embed with strategic Private Credit customers, get deep on their data, workflows, and infrastructure, and build custom solutions that makes F2 indispensable to how they operate. This is a hands-on engineering role: you write production code, you ship it and you see your work create value in days, not quarters. You'll spend the majority of your time in the field with customers, then bring what you learn back to our core engineering and product teams to make the platform better for everyone. It's the ideal role for an engineer who wants to combine deep technical work with direct customer impact, and who's excited to learn a modern AI stack end-to-end. What you'll do: * Embed with strategic accounts. Sit with our top enterprise clients to deeply understand their domain, data sources, security requirements, and analyst workflows and then translate those into concrete technical solutions. * Build custom integrations and solutions. Write production code on top of F2's platform: connectors to customer data rooms and document management systems, ingestion pipelines, workflow automations, and domain-specific features tailored to each client's needs. * Own the technical relationship. Act as the trusted technical partner for the customer's team throughout the engagement; from initial deployment and configuration through production rollout and optimization. * Prototype, validate, ship. Move fast: build a prototype, put it in front of the customer, iterate on real feedback, and get it into production through our CI/CD pipelines while meeting our engineering standards. * Generalize back into the platform. Return from engagements and work with core engineering and product to turn one-off customer solutions into reusable abstractions and platform capabilities that scale across our entire customer base. * Be the voice of the customer. Bring hard-won field insights back to the roadmap, championing the features and integrations that solve real enterprise problems. * Work alongside core engineering. Participate in shared code review, architecture discussions, you're a full member of the engineering org, not a siloed services team. What you bring: * Hands-on full-stack or backend engineering. 3+ years shipping production software, ideally with Python and/or TypeScript. You're comfortable owning a feature end-to-end across an unfamiliar codebase. * Customer-facing instincts. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you enjoy being in the room with customers translating ambiguous requirements into working software. * Pragmatic and fast. You prototype, validate, and ship in days and weeks, not months. You'd rather get something real in front of a customer than perfect a diagram. * Comfort with cloud and infra fundamentals. Working familiarity with AWS, containers, CI/CD, and Postgres/SQL. Experience with Temporal, Redis, and LLM tooling is a strong plus. * Integration mindset. Experience building connectors, APIs, or ETL/data pipelines against messy real-world data sources and enterprise systems. * Security awareness. You understand why enterprise clients care about tenant isolation, least-privilege access, and data handling, and you build with those constraints in mind. * Builder's curiosity. You enjoy learning a new domain (private markets / finance) and a full AI application stack, and you thrive in a 0→1 environment where you own outcomes.
