Every day, millions of people use SCRL to create and share content across social platforms. Behind the product is a small, profitable, and fully self-funded team based in Stockholm. Now we’re entering a new phase. As SCRL expands beyond native apps, we’re building the backend infrastructure required to support accounts, subscriptions, synchronization, APIs, and cross-platform experiences at scale. We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape that foundation. You’ll work on the systems powering user identity, content delivery, subscription management, and data synchronization across iOS, Android, and web, while helping define the architecture and engineering standards behind the platform long term. What you will do In this role you will own the backend that powers SCRL across iOS, Android, and our upcoming web platform. You will work both on the bigger architectural decisions with our CTO and Head of Data, and on the new features together with the frontend team during our sprints. Day to day, that means: Building and maintaining the APIs and services that deliver content to millions of users Designing systems that scale as we grow, without scaling our costs at the same rate Owning our PostgreSQL database and how we store and serve content Building scalable and cost-efficient systems for storing and delivering images and creative assets using AWS and S3 Making sure premium status stays in sync across iOS, Android, and web Implementing proper security and access control, and making sure we stay GDPR compliant as we start storing user generated content in the cloud What we are looking for Several years of experience building and operating backend systems in production Strong foundations in TypeScript and PostgreSQL Experience working with cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP Experience building systems that have scaled in terms of users, traffic, or complexity Comfortable being a senior voice in discussions around architecture, tradeoffs, and long-term platform decisions What we offer We are a small, international team based by Slussen in central Stockholm. Join us as an iOS Developer for a world-leading search engine company. This role starts immediately and runs until 31st December 2026. As a Software Engineer, you make larger, mostly independent, technical contributions. You deliver on end-to-end tasks towards a larger goal with minimal assistance from more senior team members. You independently plan, prioritize, and execute your work. You may participate in design, though often with guidance. You identify technical problems with the requirements and fix them. Responsibilities include: Contribute to qualification, end-user documentation, production deployment/monitoring, process automation, and customer support. Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback. Conduct testing on code beyond unit testing (e.g. integration, performance, stress, security, load, fuzz), design code to allow for easy testing, and write test case descriptions. Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Identify and pay off tech debt to improve long-term maintainability, modifiability, etc. Key responsibilities:¨ Participate in delivering end-to-end features and contribute to fixing bugs in the team. You will join a team that prioritizes a "frictionless" employee experience, managing a modern ecosystem that includes Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, and Apple/MDM. We are looking for a proactive professional who doesn't just manage systems but actively automates workflows to ensure the company scales securely. Key Responsibilities: Identity & Access Management: Own the Okta environment, including SSO (SAML 2.0/OIDC), MFA enforcement, and complex Okta Workflows. Manage Entra ID for hybrid scenarios and conditional access. Lifecycle Automation: Design and maintain SCIM-driven automated provisioning/deprovisioning to ensure seamless employee onboarding and offboarding. Google Workspace Admin: Full oversight of the Google Workspace console, including DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), email routing, and security configurations. Apple Device Management: Lead the full lifecycle for macOS and iOS devices via MDM (Kandji or Jamf), utilizing Apple Business Manager for zero-touch deployment. SaaS & Tooling: Administer and optimize business-critical platforms like Slack, Zoom, and Workwize, keeping integrations and licenses aligned with company growth. Security & Compliance: Partner with the Security team to implement Zero Trust principles and maintain compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR. Office Infrastructure: Maintain on-site IT, including wireless networks, meeting room AV, and hardware. Lead IT planning for potential new office rollouts. Requirements: Experience: 5+ years in IT Administration or Systems Operations within a high-growth tech environment. IAM Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with Okta (or similar iDP) and a solid understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD). Ecosystem Knowledge: Strong command of Google Workspace administration and the Apple/macOS ecosystem. Automation Skills: Practical experience in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, with the ability to connect systems via REST APIs. Networking & Security: Comfortable with DNS, DHCP, TLS/SSL, and conditional access policies.
