On behalf of established healthcare institutions across Ireland, we are seeking Consultant Geriatricians for 6-12 month contracts, with the possibility of extension. This opportunity is ideal for specialists who want to work with a wide range of geriatric conditions in a modern healthcare environment while gaining experience in hospitals with high clinical activity and strong multidisciplinary collaboration. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the assessment and management of older patients with complex medical conditions, as well as expertise in acute geriatric care, rehabilitation, and coordinated care pathways. About the role As a Consultant Geriatrician, you will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and ongoing care of older patients across inpatient, outpatient, and acute care settings. You will work closely with physicians from other specialties, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals. Many of the hospitals have university affiliations and active environments for research, teaching, and quality improvement. Typical responsibilities Assessment and management of older patients with complex medical conditions Comprehensive geriatric assessment and ongoing patient care Acute geriatric medicine and management of frail older adults Rehabilitation and functional assessment Assessment and follow-up of patients with dementia and cognitive impairment Multidisciplinary collaboration across patient care pathways Outpatient clinics and management of chronic conditions Supervision and mentoring of resident doctors and other healthcare professionals Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety Participation in on-call duties where applicable Areas of expertise We are interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: Acute geriatric medicine General geriatric medicine Rehabilitation medicine for older adults Dementia and cognitive disorders Falls assessment and osteoporosis management Multimorbidity and polypharmacy Stroke care and rehabilitation Palliative care for older patients We are looking for someone who Is a specialist in geriatric medicine Holds specialist certification and medical registration from an EU/EEA country Has broad clinical experience in the care and treatment of older patients Has an interest in working within a new healthcare system Has excellent English language skills, both written and spoken Communicates effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues Thrives in an international and multidisciplinary working environment Previous teaching and supervisory experience is an advantage We offer Contract for 6-12 months, with the possibility of extension The opportunity to gain international experience in an English-speaking healthcare system Positions at healthcare institutions with established geriatric medicine departments Close follow-up and guidance throughout the entire recruitment process Assistance with registration, interviews and relocation The opportunity for a short visit to Ireland, ideally together with your partner or family, to get to know the hospital and the area before making a decision Salary The annual gross salary depends on experience and is approximately €233,000–280,000 per year. Primary location will be our Winn Way clinic; however, this role may provide services and support across all OP clinics in DeKalb County. Duties & Responsibilities: The selected Psychiatrist will join an excellent team of clinical and medical staff. As an important member of this multi-disciplinary team, completes psychiatric diagnostic assessments and follow ups and makes recommendations for treatment within an evidence-based framework. Demonstrates strong clinical judgment in assessment, application of diagnostic criteria, clinical formulations, and sound triage decisions. Provides consultation regarding client care to clinical staff. Actively contributes to the treatment center and organization through on-going collaborative efforts. This position serves Adults only. The provider may provide services for all outpatient clinics as needed but can identify the Winn Way Clinic as the primary site. May serve clients who are part of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program. Provides administrative support to agency in medical matters in the absence of the Medical Director. May serve as the delegating or designated physician and provide medical supervision to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Georgia Composite Medical Board and applicable Georgia Board of Nursing guidelines. Minimum Training & Experience: Adult Psychiatrist. GA State Medical License and DEA. Currently Board Certified or Board Eligible. Addiction and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) experience preferred.
