The PhD position is available at Department of Medical Biology on the project “The role of endothelial fenestrations in health, disease and ageing”. The position is affiliated with the Vascular Biology Research Group (VBRG) at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The position is for a period of four years. The nominal length of the PhD programme is three years. The fourth year is distributed as 25 % each year and will consist of teaching and other duties. The objective of the position is to complete research training to the level of a doctoral degree.
Admission to the PhD programme is a prerequisite for employment, and the programme period starts on commencement of the position.

The successful candidate will work on the project titled “Targeting endothelial fenestrations for healthy ageing”. This project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the healthy ageing.
Ageing profoundly influences the vascular system, yet the cellular mechanisms underlying this decline remain incompletely understood. This PhD project will establish how ageing affects endothelial fenestrations, and underlying mechanisms in order to provide fundamental insights into endothelial ageing and pave the way for interventions that target microvascular health to promote healthy ageing.
Advanced microscopy and imaging techniques—including super resolution optical imaging as well as electron microscopy will be central methods, together with cell and molecular biology techniques.The candidate must have a background in biomedicine and advanced imaging.
The candidate will collaborate with other researchers and supervise master- and bachelor students in on-going projects. Relevant techniques include advanced imaging (light and electron microscopy), working with research animals, primary cells of rodent origin as well basic molecular biological techniques.

The position The Department of Physics and Technology is thrilled to announce an opening for a PhD Fellow to join the exciting project, "Cosmic Dust Injection into the Upper Earth Atmosphere" (CODIA). The position is funded by the Research Council of Norway. The appointment is for a period of 3 years. The position is affiliated with the Space Physics group of the Department, which at present includes 5 faculty members, 5 PhD Fellows, and 1 Researcher. The objective of the position is to complete research training to the level of a doctoral degree. The project The CODIA project is related to studies of meteoric smoke and ice particles in the mesosphere/ionosphere, cosmic dust entering the Earth’s atmosphere, meteors, and space debris. Observation methods include radar meteors and ionospheric phenomena observed with EISCAT and other instruments. We have new observational data from a rocket campaign conducted in the summer of 2025 and are planning new measurements for 2028. The successful candidate will participate in analyses of the measurements and related theory with investigations on the microphysics of dust like condensation, agglomeratiron and charge interaction. The PhD student will work together with project participants, other PhD students and Master students, as well as local, national, and international collaborators Qualifications To be qualified you must have a master’s degree in physics, space physics, geosciences, space engineering or a related field. The position At the Norwegian College of Fishery Science, Faculty of Biosciences, Fisheries and Economics (BFE) at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, there is a vacant position as a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with the Microalgae & Microbiomes Research Group. The position is for a fixed term of 3 years. It is a prerequisite that the applicant can carry out the project over the full course of the employment period. No person may hold more than one fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the same institution. The postdoctoral project focuses on programmable marine microbiomes and mechanistic interactions within the diatom phycosphere, with particular emphasis on synthetic biology, microbial ecology, and molecular interactions between marine microalgae and associated bacteria. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of experimental model systems for studying metabolite exchange, microbial community interactions, and engineered microbial consortia in marine environments. The position is affiliated with ongoing research activities in marine microbiology, synthetic biology, and systems biology at UiT. The position The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has up to three PhD position vacant from 01.01.2027 for applicants who wish to obtain the degree of Philosophiae Doctor (PhD). The position is affiliated to the Lie-Størmer Center. The Lie-Størmer Center is jointly hosted by UiT The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) and University of Bergen (UiB), Norway. The center will employ up to 8 PhD Research Fellows, whose research will focus on the interaction between algebra, differential geometry, analysis and computational mathematics, as well as their applications to data science and computational dynamics. The position’s field of research and other duties Research at the Lie-Størmer Center (LSC) aims to explore uncharted territory at the interface of computational and pure mathematics, targeting foundational mathematical challenges relevant to the modern information society and geometric dynamical control in engineering. This project builds bridges between pure and computational mathematics, among Mathematics departments in Tromsø, Bergen, and across Norway, and between high-level research and education within the ERCOM network of European mathematical research centers. Computational mathematics is a cornerstone of modern science. Its methods are reshaping the foundations of pure mathematics, while abstract mathematical concepts generate fresh insights into algorithms and discretization techniques – critical for numerical computations and simulations. This convergence signifies a pivotal phase in the mathematical sciences, where the divide between pure and applied mathematics is narrowing. Advancing this integration demands collaboration across these fields, which the Lie-Størmer Center will champion. The project is organized in multiple thematic areas and interaction between them. Admission to the PhD programme For employment in the PhD position, you must be qualified for admission to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Science and Technology and participate in organized doctoral studies within the employment period. Admission normally requires: • A bachelor's degree of 180 ECTS and a master's degree of 120 ECTS, or an integrated master's degree of 300 ECTS. In order to gain admission to the programme, the candidate must document sufficient potential for research. The applicant must have a grade point average of C (strong 3.0) or better for the master’s degree, which must contain an independent work. Application for final admission must be submitted no later than two months after taking up the position. Applicants with a foreign education will be subjected to an evaluation of whether the educational background is equal to Norwegian higher education, following national guidelines from Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills. Depending on which country the education is from, one or two additional years of university education may be required to fulfil admission requirements, e.g. a 4-year bachelor's degree and a 2-year master's degree.
