Shape the Platform, Enable Domains, Build for Scale We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Group Analytics enabling team. This is a key role in establishing and evolving our global data platform, with Microsoft Fabric and the Azure ecosystem as the primary technology direction. You will combine hands-on data engineering with architectural responsibility, helping us build scalable, governed, and automated data platform capabilities. The role is central to our ambition to move from fragmented and manually maintained legacy solutions toward a modern, domain-oriented data platform that enables trusted analytics, self service, and future AI/ML use cases. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building for scale, setting technical direction, and enabling others through strong engineering standards, reusable patterns, and practical guidance. Your Mission As a Senior Data Engineer, you will help design, build, and mature our global data platform. You will work with Microsoft Fabric, lakehouse and medallion architecture, reusable data pipelines, analytical data models, and modern engineering practices. You will play an important role in enabling a federated, data mesh-inspired operating model, where domain teams can own and evolve their data products within clear technical and governance guardrails. Depending on your profile, you may also take architectural responsibility for selected platform capabilities, patterns, and technical decisions. Experience from other modern lakehouse platforms, such as Databricks, Spark, or PySpark, is highly relevant where it strengthens your ability to design scalable and automated data solutions. What You’ll Do • Help design, build, and evolve our Microsoft Fabric-based global data platform, including scalable pipelines, lakehouse patterns, and analytical data models. • Develop reusable engineering standards, templates, and governed data objects that enable domain teams to build and manage data products. • Apply modern engineering practices such as Git, CI/CD, monitoring, documentation, testing, and infrastructure-as-code principles such as Terraform. • Embed security, access control, GDPR/PII handling, lineage, and metadata requirements into platform delivery. • Work closely with enterprise architects, data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, business stakeholders, and domain teams. • Mentor colleagues and support the modernization and deprecation of legacy BI/DW solutions. What You Bring • Senior-level data engineering experience with strong hands-on delivery, architectural understanding, and ability to design scalable platform solutions. • Strong SQL and Python skills, with Microsoft Fabric experience or transferable lakehouse expertise from Databricks, Spark, PySpark, or Delta Lake. • Experience with production-grade data pipelines, medallion/lakehouse architecture, analytical data modeling, and domain-oriented data design. • Experience with modern engineering practices such as Git, CI/CD, DevOps, monitoring, and preferably infrastructure-as-code principles such as Terraform. • Good understanding of data governance, metadata, lineage, access control, GDPR, and PII handling. • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to create reusable patterns and translate business and analytical needs into scalable technical solutions. Co-ordinate with internal project users to troubleshoot and provide expert level technical support to resolve issues related to Azure, AWS, Windows/ Linux servers. Provide system administration and technical support on Windows Server, Linux, Intune, Defender, Rapid7, MacOS, Jamf with advance skills on Windows Active Directory & Azure networking. Hands on with Windows server security hardening and patch management. Intermediate skills on LAN/WAN, WiFi, Internet troubleshooting. Co-ordinate with other local and global IT team members to address Cloud, servers or application support issues & document and prepare reports as per internal IT processes. Software & subscriptions license assignment, tracking and verification. Hands-on with Troubleshooting, Problem Resolution, Upgradation & Maintenance: Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, Terraform, AKS Cluster, App Service, SAML, Azure DevOps, Azure Networking & Storage, Microsoft Azure Backup Service or other Data backup software Work experience on Windows Server, Linux, MacOS, SQL DB, MS Defender, MS Intune & Rapid7. HandsOn with GitHub, MS Autopilot, MS Office 356, Azure AD/ Entra tools. Basic network & Internet access troubleshooting from Windows, Linux, MacOS. Pre-requisites: Around 5 to 10 Years of relevant work experience as Cloud IT Support Engineer Good business communication (written/ spoken English) & co-ordination skills to work with IT teams Good customer service skills with clear communication, active listening, patience & adaptability that are essential for building positive customer relationships and resolving issues effectively. Eager to learn new things, contribute as a team player, collaborate and explore ways to resolve technical problems quickly or provide work arounds. Proactive in problem-solving, result oriented and take responsibility & deliver to the assigned IT tasks. Certifications related to Azure, Windows Server, Backup/ Storage & Networking will be preferred. Your Mission As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will support the virtualization and EUC platform, including on‑prem virtualization environments and integrations with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and FSLogix. You’ll help maintain standardized configurations, assist with automation tasks, follow established platform patterns, and contribute to smooth day‑to‑day operations. By learning and applying best practices, you help ensure the platform remains stable, secure, and consistent as the business evolves. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, contributing to documentation, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvements—enabling teams across the organization to work efficiently without unnecessary manual effort. What You’ll Do * Support the day‑to‑day operation of hybrid compute and EUC platforms. * Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and FSLogix configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. * Help maintain and update golden images and standardized VM templates. * Contribute to Infrastructure as Code efforts using Terraform and Packer under guidance. * Assist in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions. * Follow automation‑first and self‑service principles, helping reduce manual work where possible. * Document processes, update runbooks, and participate in continuous improvement activities. What You Bring * Foundational knowledge of on‑prem virtualization (Hyper‑V / Azure Local; VMware exposure is a plus). * Familiarity with Azure Virtual Desktop and FSLogix, or a strong willingness to learn them. * Knowledge of structuring work in tools like Jira and Confluence. * An interest in automation, Infrastructure as Code, and platform engineering practices. * Understanding of or willingness to learn security/governance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR). * Ability to follow established designs and standards, with a mindset focused on consistency and simplification. * Curiosity, reliability, and a desire to grow into more advanced platform responsibilities.
