The European Spallation Source (ESS) is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. It will provide researchers with unique opportunities to explore the structure of materials at the atomic level. Neutron scattering at ESS will address critical questions in physics, chemistry, geology, materials science and life science. We are now looking for an Instrument Scientist for the HEIMDAL powder diffractometer. The position is with the Diffraction & Imaging Division. About the division The Diffraction & Imaging Division consists of the scientific staff that are leading the instrument construction projects and the staff that will eventually execute the day-to-day operations of six neutron instruments. The upcoming responsibilities of the division are Finalize the installation and commissioning of all instruments in the division Deliver state-of-the-art scientific capabilities for internal and external users to enable the wider science community to advance science and technology Deliver scientific results from the neutron instruments in collaboration with the user community and other divisions in the science directorate Plan and implement further developments and upgrades of the instruments Push the state-of-the-art capabilities of neutron instrumentation to make maximum benefit from the ESS source. Main Responsibilities HEIMDAL is a multiscale diffractometer that, in its full scope, will enable studies of functional materials across a wide range of length scales, from conventional powder diffraction to the small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) regime (possible future upgrade). The construction of the diffractometer part of the instrument is ongoing and expected to be completed in 2027. The immediate mission is to finalize the installation of the instrument and take part in the commissioning of the instrument without and with neutrons. The instrument scientist will work closely with the core instrument team at ESS, comprising another instrument scientist, an instrument computational scientist, and an instrument operational engineer, and in strong interaction with partner institutions and ESS technical services. The successful candidate must be active in a scientific field of direct relevance to HEIMDAL. Essential qualifications and experience: PhD in experimental studies in the physical sciences relevant to the HEIMDAL scientific programme, preferably in energy or nanoscaled materials. Practical experience in neutron powder diffraction Working knowledge of the data analysis for diffraction software GSAS-II, TOPAS, FullProf, Jana2006, PDFgui Evidence of an independent research profile in relevant science areas supported by a publication record Ability to work collaboratively and individually Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills, and the ability to interact effectively with staff and users at all levels. Flexibility to requests to work out-of-hours to support users Responsible attitude to personal safety and the safety of others Willingness to international travel Desirable experience: Experience with user operation at a large-scale neutron facility Experience with time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction Experience with PDF and ideally SANS measurements Practical experience in operating complex sample environments relating to neutron powder diffraction. About the role: As ESS gets closer to its steady-state operations phase, we're looking for an Electronics Technician to join our Radio Frequency (RF) Group. The RF Group is part of the Accelerator division at ESS, and is responsible for defining, designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining the complex systems and amplifiers required for the operation of our particle accelerator. We are looking for a technician to assist with testing, operation and maintenance of high-powered amplifiers, power supplies and electronics. You will be working closely with, and assisting other members of, the RF group - as well as having your own short- and longer-term assignments. While much of the work is of an electronics and RF nature, we’re looking for a versatile technician who wants to learn new skills to take on a variety of tasks.  Day-to-day, you will: Assist with electrical and mechanical installation of the RF systems including rack mounted components, cabling and assembly. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining the systems, processes, and governance needed to plan, monitor, and control organisational performance and the ESS programme. The role provides leadership across planning and scheduling, cost control, risk management, change control, and reporting to support informed decision-making and successful delivery. Neutron scattering at ESS will address critical questions in physics, chemistry, geology, materials science and life science.   About the role   Within the Science Directorate, the Scientific Support Division provides the ESS neutron science program with experimental support including sample environments, user laboratories, deuteration, and hall coordination in close collaboration with Instrument Divisions.   The Sample Environment group at ESS is preparing to support all ESS neutron instruments by developing, assembling and integrating a broad range of specialized equipment for achieving both very low and very high temperatures, high magnetic fields, high pressure, vacuum, gas or liquid flow, lasers, and in many cases, automated systems. Once ESS transitions into operations in early 2027, we will provide operational support for all sample environments on the instruments in close collaboration with scientists, as well as continuing the development of new sample environments. We are now seeking a Sample Environment Engineer to support the development, commissioning and the operations of high temperature furnaces, as well as related gas handling and pressurized gas systems. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering sample environment projects in these areas, working in close collaboration with other members of the Sample environment group as well as academic research groups to develop new equipment and provide operational support for early science experiments at ESS. As part of this role, you will specifically develop new sample environments in collaboration with the universities participating in the ESS Early Science Initiative project “Sustainable and functional materials from local resources” funded by the Swedish Research Council. Day-to-day, you will: Specify, design, develop and procure equipment for high temperature/gas handling and pressurized sample environment systems. Work with academic researchers to develop technical specifications and propose solutions and designs to meet scientific requirements. Assemble, integrate and commission sample environments and associated equipment. Install, operate, maintain and repair high temperature/gas handling/pressurized systems and related equipment. Collaborate with ESS instrument teams and academic user groups to establish specifications and priorities for new high temperature/gas handling/pressurized systems. Provide operational sample environment support for the ESS instruments including on-call support. Provide expert experiment safety reviews for user proposals and carry out safety testing of user-supplied equipment. Collaborate with ESS instrument teams, users, and sample environment groups at other large-scale facilities to further develop high temperature/gas handling/pressurized sample environment equipment and technologies. Participate in the setting-up, maintenance and operation of the sample environment workshops and facilities. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for around 3 years based at ESS Campus in Lund, Sweden. About you   You have up to an MSc level degree in an engineering subject (e.g. mechanical, materials or metallurgical engineering) with relevance to this position, which focuses on the development and practical realization of high temperature and pressurized gas handling systems for scientific measurements. Previous experience of design as well as hands-on work experience with high-temperature equipment and gas handling/pressurised gas systems is required. You also have previous experience of mechanical assembly, maintenance and repairs, as well as relevant knowledge of material behavior at high temperatures and hazards involved in pressurized gas systems.   Experience of developing scientific or technical equipment involving controlling or monitoring temperature, mass, gas pressure or other experimental parameters would be considered particularly beneficial for this role. Experience with additional techniques including vacuum welding, brazing, wiring, light sheet metal work, and tube bending is also regarded as a merit, as are basic machining skills. Knowledge of control systems and programming would be an advantage, but not a requirement. You are accustomed to working with scientists as well as technicians to define and deliver projects and support operating equipment. You take as much pride in designing engineering solutions to meet scientific requirements as providing hands-on practical solutions to equipment problems, and approach all tasks with a collaborative, service-oriented mind-set. You are eager to learn new things, adapt quickly, and interested in contributing across a variety of tasks besides your core area of competence. The RH Group plays a key role in operating, maintaining, and developing the equipment used for transferring and processing radioactive components and waste within the ESS Active Cells Facility (our environment for handling radioactive components safely) using specialised Cask Assemblies. You will work with highly specialised remote handling systems, heavy lifting equipment, Virtual Reality-supported operations, and complex electromechanical systems in a unique radioactive waste handling and maintenance environment. Bridge, acquired by Stripe in 2025, is an entirely new payments platform, built with stablecoins, to simplify global money movement. ABOUT THE TEAM We're looking for a driven, strategic, and results-oriented PMM to join the product marketing team at Bridge, focused on our Open Issuance, Orchestration and FX product lines. As an early PMM for Bridge, you’ll be responsible for product marketing across the lifecycle, from helping shape the product with market insights, to crafting messaging, to growing product awareness and adoption in partnership with Sales, Marketing, Product, and more. This is a highly-cross functional role that will work both across the teams at Bridge and at Stripe to help grow the Bridge business. You’ll be embedded with the Bridge team while also being part of the Stripe product marketing team. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Be a storyteller. You have deep empathy for our core audience and are able to adapt how you communicate to best reach and engage your audience. You can translate complex infrastructure concepts—stablecoin issuance, cross-border FX, payment orchestration—into clear, compelling narratives that differentiate Bridge. * Lead with data. You like working with data and insights and pair that with your passion for users to generate balanced and thoughtful points of view for how to take products to market * Keep things organized. You are able to manage highly interdependent, complex projects and keep various work streams on track. You're comfortable running multiple launches in parallel across different product lines and coordinating across Bridge, Privy, and Stripe teams. * Have a passion for fintech and crypto. You are keen to learn about how things work and are able to explain technical concepts in ways that everyday people can understand. You’re deeply curious about fintech and crypto and translate that passion into impactful product marketing. * Be ambitious and thrive in complexity. Product Marketers collaborate with basically every team in the business. You are able to work with a range of disciplines to execute on your work RESPONSIBILITIES  * Own the end-to-end product marketing strategy for Open Issuance, Orchestration and FX, including messaging, positioning, ICP definition, sales enablement, and demand generation campaigns * Drive go-to-market for product expansions (new currencies, corridors, pricing improvements), ensuring GTM teams have the right positioning, playbooks, and enablement content from day one * Build and maintain competitive positioning in a crowded market, clearly articulating Bridge's differentiation to the right developer and customer segments * Lead marketing for product releases and launches across your product areas, coordinating with product, comms, content, and demand gen * Create and maintain sales and marketing assets (case studies, solution pages, pitch decks, one-pagers, enablement and trainings) that drive pipeline conversion * Act as a liaison between Bridge and Stripe product marketing to bring connectivity across the marketing strategy for both parts of the business * Flex into other Bridge marketing needs as they arise, supporting the broader team during peak moments WHO YOU ARE We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * 5+ years of relevant experience including B2B product marketing, marketing, product management, and management consulting * Ability to be agile and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment * Experience in working in businesses that offer API-based products, fintech and crypto experience is a plus * Action-oriented and comfortable moving forward without clear guidelines or instructions * Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences * Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset for decision-making * Strong cross-functional relationship builder at all levels of an organization
