The role We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Product Engineering team in Aarhus. This is a leadership role, not a hands-on coding role. You own the production engine of Product Engineering: the people, the process, and the tools that turn ideas into shipped software. Your job is to build a strong team, keep our way of working lean and effective, and make sure engineers have the environments they need to do great work. We work AI-augmented. Modern AI tools are a natural part of how we design, write and review software, so more of the typing is handled for us. That makes judgement the valuable work: what to build and whether it holds up as the platform grows. You make sure the team gets the most out of that, while keeping delivery healthy and predictable. You join the Products leadership group and report to the CTO. The Lead Architect owns the platform, including the production platform. You own the people, process, and tools that build and deliver on it. The two roles work closely and depend on each other. Your team's work reaches hundreds of thousands of people across the Nordics: job seekers navigating labour market reforms, employment professionals adapting to new digitalisation strategies, and the institutions managing that change. What you will work on Candeno serves municipalities, unemployment funds, and educational institutions across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The platform has three sides: candidates navigating the labour market, advisors guiding them through digitalisation and compliance workflows, and companies recruiting talent. One platform, many contexts. You will lead a team of roughly 8 to 12 engineers, growing through our H2 2026 upscaling. You will: People Take full personnel responsibility for the engineers: performance, development, wellbeing, and day-to-day leadership. Run regular one-to-ones, give feedback, and set clear development plans for each engineer. Own hiring for the team, and handle underperformance and offboarding when needed. Grow the team through the upscaling, and build a culture of ownership and craft. Process (delivery) Own the delivery part of the process (build and operate), and align closely with the discovery part (analysis and design), which is owned by the Head of Product Management. Keep delivery predictable and healthy: sensible planning, clear priorities, and steady flow, without heavy ceremony. Make sure AI tools are used well across the team, so we work faster and still build the right things. Remove blockers and protect focus time so the team can deliver. Tools Own the development and test environments, and keep them reliable, fast, and fit for purpose. Work with the Lead Architect so tooling and environments fit the platform and production setup. Keep improving the developer experience as the team grows. Who we are looking for You are an engineering leader who builds strong teams and lean delivery. You have a solid engineering background, enough to earn the respect of senior engineers and to partner with a Lead Architect, even if you are no longer hands-on in code. You will need: Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams, with real people management responsibility. A track record of building lean, effective delivery in a fast-moving SaaS or product company. A solid engineering background across modern web or SaaS development. Experience with modern delivery tooling: development and test environments, CI/CD, containers, and running services in the cloud. A considered approach to AI. You help a team use modern AI tools well, and keep a critical eye on what they produce. Experience hiring, and comfort handling performance and difficult conversations. Clear communication. You can align engineers, product, and leadership, and make it feel simple. The kind of person who does well here: A leader people want to work for: supportive, clear, and fair. Decisive. You own the hard calls on people and priorities. Bias for a lean, pragmatic process over heavy structure. Curious about the problem, not only the delivery. Direct. You give feedback clearly and push back when something is not right. What the first six months look like After one month You know the team, the platform, and our discovery and delivery process. You have started one-to-ones and built trust with each engineer, and you understand the current state of our development and test environments. After three months You own the development process day to day, with clear priorities and steady delivery. Each engineer has a development plan, and you have a plan for improving the environments. You are an active member of the Products leadership group. After six months Your team delivers predictably and owns its way of working. You have grown the team as planned through the upscaling, with a strong hiring bar, and you have measurably improved delivery, developer experience, and the environments. Working at Candeno We are a scale-up. That means real ownership, real impact, and a product that is still being shaped by the people who work on it. We are based in Aarhus, and this is an on-site role. You join the Products leadership group, reporting to the CTO, and you work closely with the Lead Architect, the Head of Product Management, and the Product Support Manager. We are direct and focused on doing the right thing for users. We share work early and expect you to do the same. What we offer Pension scheme and health insurance 5 extra days off after 2 years of seniority (10 in total) Daily lunch from Meyers Madhus A shared milestone programme that celebrates successes big and small An active social life: team events, clubs, and an engaged social committee Before you apply This is a fully on-site role in Aarhus with no remote option. You must already have the right to work in Denmark and be able to be in our office every working day from your start date. We do not offer visa sponsorship or relocation support. Applications that do not meet these conditions will not be considered, so please only apply if all of them apply to you. The process A short screening call A first interview, a deeper conversation about your experience and the role A case interview, a practical brief sent in advance No cover letter. You will answer three short questions when you apply. About Candeno Candeno is a Nordic employment technology company based in Aarhus. We build the platform that connects candidates, advisors, and companies across municipalities, unemployment funds, and educational institutions in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Our work sits at the intersection of public sector compliance and modern product thinking, and we take both seriously.
The role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our product team in Aarhus. This is not a role where you only write code. You are a systems developer. A real part of your time goes into discovery, meaning analysis and design: understanding the problem, shaping the solution, and deciding what is worth building. The rest goes into delivery. We work AI-augmented. Modern AI tools are a natural part of how we design, write and review software, so more of the typing is handled for you. That makes the harder, more valuable work the judgement: what to build, how it fits together, and whether it holds up as the platform grows. We use AI to move faster, and we believe people are what make sure we build the right things. Your work will reach hundreds of thousands of people across the Nordics: job seekers navigating labour market reforms, employment professionals adapting to new digitalisation strategies, and the institutions managing that change. Talking with the people who use the platform may be part of the job, so that what you build stays grounded in real needs. We are actively building and improving core parts of the platform. You will: Discovery (analysis and design) Work with product managers, designers and stakeholders to understand real user problems before we commit to building. AI helps us move fast, so the harder work is knowing what is worth building. Explore options, weigh tradeoffs, and decide what to build and how. Contribute to architecture and system design that keep the platform scalable and maintainable. Delivery (development and operations) Design, build and maintain robust, scalable features across the platform. Write clean, maintainable code, using AI tools where they help and applying judgement to what they produce. Review code and designs, test and debug complex issues, and give constructive feedback. Operate what you build: CI/CD, containers and cloud, and refactor as the platform grows. Quality and craft Meet security standards and protect user data in a data-sensitive sector. Share knowledge and mentor other engineers on craft and good practice. This is technical mentoring, not people management. Who we are looking for You are a senior engineer who is as comfortable in the problem as in the code. Your foundation is strong delivery, and your edge is at the front of the process: you know how to find the right problem before jumping to a solution, and how to do it at a pace that keeps up with a team that ships. You will need: 5+ years building software, ideally SaaS. Strong with PHP and Laravel, and with JavaScript and React. Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and running services in the cloud. A considered approach to AI in your workflow. You use modern AI coding tools well, and you review what they produce critically. Strong system and product thinking. You can take part in discovery, not only delivery. Clear communication. You can explain a technical tradeoff to a PM, a designer, and another engineer, and make it feel simple. A degree in computer science, engineering or similar, or an equivalent proven track record. The kind of person who does well here: Curious about the problem, not only the code. Ownership mindset. You follow a problem all the way through. Comfortable making decisions without a perfect foundation, and honest about the tradeoffs when you do. Direct. You share work early, give feedback clearly, and push back when something is not right. What the first six months look like After one month You understand the platform architecture, our discovery and delivery process, and the team. You have taken ownership of your first delivery tasks and you are part of discovery conversations and team ceremonies. After three months You are leading delivery of key features and contributing actively to discovery, helping shape solutions and technical direction for upcoming work. AI tools are a fluent part of your daily work. After six months You show leadership in system design and architecture decisions and influence technical direction. You own discovery for meaningful pieces of work, from problem to buildable plan, and you mentor other engineers on craft and good practice. Working at Candeno We are a scale-up. That means real ownership, real impact, and a product that is still being shaped by the people who work on it. We are based in Aarhus, and this is an on-site role. The team is small, cross-functional, and works closely together. You will have real ownership of your work and close proximity to product, design and the rest of engineering. The role We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Product Management team in Aarhus. The team is still being built. Today, problem framing, epic work, roadmap, customer dialogue and design coordination sit in one place. That limits how many product tracks we can run properly at the same time. You give us the capacity to go deep on several at once, so we can move from reacting to demand to driving a coherent product. We serve four markets and four customer types with one platform. That takes discipline about what becomes configuration and what becomes a special build. Holding that line, with a rationale that also holds up in front of a customer, is a real part of the job. We work AI-augmented. Modern AI tools take more of the writing and synthesis off your desk, which makes judgement the valuable work: which problem is real, what we build, and what we decline. We use AI to move faster, and we believe people are what make sure we build the right things. Your work reaches hundreds of thousands of people across the Nordics: job seekers navigating labour market reforms, employment professionals adapting to new digitalisation strategies, and the institutions managing that change. To begin with, the role is deliberately broad. You work across customers, markets, segments and products, wherever the need is greatest. A fixed ownership area is set as the team grows. You will: Discovery and problem framing Turn input from customers, Customer Success, sales and Product Support into qualified problem statements. Run and facilitate user interviews, workshops and validation together with design. Understand the problem before the solution, and get discovery done before we estimate. Definition and delivery Write epics and solution descriptions others can build on, with scope, boundaries and success criteria. Prioritise and drive the backlog together with engineering and architecture. Follow deliveries all the way out: release notes, internal enablement, and follow-up on real impact. Customer and market dialogue Take part in customer dialogue and workshops with Customer Success and sales, without committing to functionality on the spot. Assess feature requests across customers: what is one customer's edge case, and what is a shared need. Direction and communication Contribute to roadmap, themes and horizons (Now, Next, Later). Make sure cross-cutting dependencies such as integrations, data and compliance are understood before we commit to building. Your mandate You prioritise within an agreed direction, you can say no to special builds, and you decide within your own track. Overall direction, cross-cutting prioritisation and roadmap commitments sit with the Head of Product Management. Who we are looking for You are a product manager who loves the problem. You go deep on the challenge before you reach for a solution, you write clearly enough that other people can act on it, and you are comfortable in an organisation where the frame is not finished yet. You will need: Experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner on a SaaS product. The ability to run discovery independently: talk to users, synthesise what you hear, and turn it into problems and requirements. Clear and structured writing. Epics, problem statements and decision papers other people can act on. Experience working closely with engineers and designers in a team with real ownership. Danish and English at working level, written and spoken. Nice to have: Knowledge of the employment sector, public sector customers, or other regulated domains. Experience with multi-tenant products, configurability and white-label. Experience with B2G sales and decision processes, where a decision takes 6 to 24 months and involves many stakeholders. A considered approach to AI in your own product work, including judgement about when the output needs verifying. Enough understanding of integrations and data models to ask the right questions. The kind of person who does well here: Loves the problem. Goes deep on the challenge before the solution. Self-driven where the frame is not finished, and helps build it. Honest and direct, including when the answer is no, or not yet. Has empathy for all three parties: the job seeker, the advisor and the customer. Comfortable with breadth, and with switching between segments and markets. Collaborates rather than hands over. What the first six months look like After one month You know the platform as a user, on both the candidate and the advisor side, and you can explain what we solve and for whom. You have met product, design, engineering, Customer Success and sales, and you know who to go to when. You have listened in on customer dialogue and support cases across all three customer segments, and you have taken ownership of a first, well-defined problem. After three months You run discovery independently on your own tracks and deliver problem statements and epics the team can build on. You have taken at least one delivery from problem to release and followed up on the impact. You contribute credibly to prioritisation, you can turn down a special build with a rationale that holds, and you handle customer dialogue independently alongside Customer Success. After six months You have full ownership of one or more product areas and you are the team's go-to person on them. You contribute to roadmap and direction, not only to execution. You have moved a measurable outcome for customers or users, and you have changed something about how we work, not only about the product. Working at Candeno We are a scale-up. That means real ownership, real impact, and a product that is still being shaped by the people who work on it. We are based in Aarhus, and this is an on-site role. You report to the Head of Product Management and work in a product trio with design and architecture throughout, close to engineering, Customer Success, sales and Product Support. Our product philosophy follows Cagan and SVPG: outcome-oriented teams, discovery before estimation, and configurability over special builds. We work in ClickUp for epics and backlog, Figma and FigJam for design and concept work, and Freshdesk for release communication. We work in Danish and English. Swedish and Norwegian are handled together with colleagues. We are direct and focused on doing the right thing for users. We share work early and expect you to do the same. What we offer Pension scheme and health insurance 5 extra days off after 2 years of seniority (10 in total) Daily lunch from Meyers Madhus A shared milestone programme that celebrates successes big and small An active social life: team events, clubs, and an engaged social committee The process A short screening call with the Head of Product Management A first interview with the Head of Product Management and the CTO, a deeper conversation about your experience and the role A case interview, a practical brief sent in advance No cover letter.
