ABOUT THE ROLE You lead credit analytics at Qliro and own the credit life cycle, from setting the underwriting strategy to monitoring how the portfolio performs and forecasting losses. You are accountable for the balance between risk and profitability, and for making sure our credit decisions are backed by analysis. You lead a team of two credit analysts. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Set and develop Qliro’s credit strategy: who we approve, at what limits and terms, and how that changes as the portfolio and the market change. * Understand what drives risk and profitability in the portfolio, and how the two trade off against each other. You can explain to management what a change in approval rate or credit rules does to losses and to profit and loss. * Own our expected credit loss (ECL) model and our provisioning methodology. This includes the model’s assumptions, how well it performs, how it is recalibrated, and how the results are explained to Finance and other stakeholders. * Forecast credit losses and explain how they move with changes in strategy, macroeconomic conditions and portfolio mix. You provide the loss view that Finance uses in budget and forecasting. * Monitor portfolio performance and act on it. This covers loss development, early signs of deterioration, and differences between customer segments, merchants and markets. * Follow new and changing regulation that affects credit, and make sure our underwriting framework is adapted in time. Compliance supports you, but the credit function owns the framework. * Decide how credit rules and models are tested and introduced, for example through champion/challenger setups, and follow up on whether they delivered what we expected. * Work with data scientists and engineers who build models, tools and decision rules. You set the credit requirements and judge whether the result is good enough to use. * Work directly with our merchant partners on credit performance and on how their customer base affects risk. * Work with Risk, Finance and Compliance on risk appetite and reporting. * Lead and develop two credit analysts: set priorities, review their work, and help them grow in the role. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR * You have owned or had a major part in credit decisions in consumer lending, BNPL, cards, payments or a similar business. * You know the credit life cycle in practice: underwriting, limit setting, monitoring, and what happens when customers fall behind. * You have worked with ECL modelling and provisioning, and can explain how the model works, what drives its results, and where it is uncertain. * You have forecast credit losses and know how to explain the gap between forecast and outcome. * You have adapted credit policy or an underwriting framework to new regulation, and can read regulatory requirements and translate them into credit rules. * You understand how analyses and credit models are built well enough to review and challenge them. You do not need to write the code yourself. * You have worked with data scientists on scorecards or other credit models and know what to ask for. * You explain trade-offs clearly to people who are not credit specialists, including senior leaders. * You have led or coached people, or are ready to take on a first people-management role. WHAT YOUR TEAM DOES Your team, Web & App, is developing the products where our merchants' consumers can follow their purchases. This self-organized, autonomous team has full ownership for taking features from discovery to operating them in production. The team is fullstack, but spends most of its time developing front end features. Write high-quality, well-tested code across the stack, and take part in decisions on how the team designs and maintains its solutions. Use Claude Code and other AI tools as part of your daily workflow to move faster without cutting corners on quality. Help break down tasks and estimate effort together with your teammates and Tech Lead. Make sure your work follows Qliro's guidelines and meets regulatory and security standards. Take part in code reviews, pairing and knowledge-sharing to help raise the bar for the team, and bring your own perspective to technical discussions on architecture and ways of working. You'll collaborate closely with the rest of the business ensuring that our forecasting and reporting is up to high standards. This is a hands on role, you are expected to do a lot of the financial modelling together with your team, rather than only setting direction and strategy. In this role you will: Set product strategy recommendations together with product managers, backed by evidence you've built yourself, with the consumer's experience of paying with Qliro as the throughline Own measurement, reporting and interpretation of consumer-facing product performance end to end Lead performance improvement initiatives across teams, including designing and evaluating A/B tests on the consumer journey Run and shape the analytical forums on consumer product performance, and use them to spread analytical method, not just conclusions Mentor and upskill less experienced analysts and non-analysts on data tools, encourage AI-assisted analysis, statistical reasoning, and how to ask better questions of the data Challenge current business performance and practice proactively, without waiting to be asked Take a full-business view, pulling from whatever database, system or study gets a clear answer, not just the one closest at hand Who you are: You're curious by default and don't wait for someone to hand you a question — you notice something off in the data and dig into why.
