Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, INTEGRATIONS & APPLICATION ENGINEERING AIRBNB | INDIA COMPANY OVERVIEW AIRBNB WAS BORN IN 2007 WHEN TWO HOSTS WELCOMED THREE GUESTS TO THEIR SAN FRANCISCO HOME, AND HAS SINCE GROWN TO OVER 5 MILLION HOSTS WHO HAVE WELCOMED OVER 2 BILLION GUEST ARRIVALS IN ALMOST EVERY COUNTRY ACROSS THE GLOBE. EVERY DAY, HOSTS OFFER UNIQUE STAYS AND EXPERIENCES THAT MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR GUESTS TO CONNECT WITH COMMUNITIES IN A MORE AUTHENTIC WAY. THE COMMUNITY YOU WILL JOIN The Integrations & Application Engineering team owns the integration and automation platforms at Airbnb. We enable teams across the company to self-serve in connecting their systems and automating solutions, and we integrate Airbnb’s enterprise systems end-to-end. The team also builds and manages custom in-house solutions and the application infrastructure that supports them. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining Finance integrations and reports, and on developing the libraries and plugins that power our in-house platforms. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of systems and solutions, is eager to learn, and is enthusiastic about applying AI — building new tools and integrations with Claude Code that enhance and extend what our team can do. A TYPICAL DAY * Partner with Finance and cross-functional teams across Airbnb to translate their requirements into integrations, automations, and reporting. * Work alongside architects and other technical teams in design discussions and reviews. * Migrate integrations from Oracle Cloud onto our in-house platform. * Pair with and mentor junior engineers and contractors through design reviews, architecture discussions, and pair programming. * Triage and resolve issues across the integrations and infrastructure you support. * Explore the rapidly evolving GenAI landscape, evaluating new models and techniques for potential application, and share the learnings. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES * Own the architecture, delivery, and reliability of integrations and microservices in Java/Python/TypeScript. * Extend the in-house integration platform so technical teams across Airbnb can self-serve, and build no-code features that let non-technical teams automate their own workflows. * Design and build AI-assisted automations and MCP integrations that extend internal platform capabilities. * Translate Oracle module requirements into solutions, review with the team, and present to stakeholders. * Uphold quality and reliability through code reviews, testing, monitoring, and incident response. * Document designs and runbooks, and support the application infrastructure. YOUR EXPERTISE REQUIRED: * 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant focus on building production systems. * 2+ years of hands-on experience with AI integration architecture, including using LLMs in intelligent automation, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and RAG. * Strong proficiency in backend technologies (TypeScript, Python, or Java) and building microservices and integrations. * Good understanding of messaging infrastructure, data streaming, and storage solutions. * Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including the ability to write, review, and suggest PL/SQL code optimization. * Strong backend and distributed systems expertise, including API design and AWS. * Track record of using AI in development to ship products from prototype to production. * Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without authority. * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts for diverse audiences. PREFERRED: * Financial domain knowledge and experience with Oracle Cloud products or other ERP systems. * Experience building AI agents and MCPs, preferably using Claude. * Experience building integrations using MCP. * Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). * Contributions to open-source, publications at top venues, or public speaking engagements.
ABOUT US Every company that scales lives or dies by its procurement function. It manages the vendor relationships that keep operations running, the financial guardrails that prevent overspend, and the supply chain resilience that determines whether a company survives a crisis or folds under one. And yet, the people doing this work spend 80% of their time in spreadsheets. Not because they lack ambition, because the tools haven't changed in 25 years. Pivot is building the AI operating system for procurement: enterprise-grade infrastructure that hands the manual grind to AI agents so procurement teams can do what they were actually hired to do, shape the strategic future of their companies. Our platform combines intake, approvals, vendor management, invoice matching, and ERP integrations in a single AI-native platform. We've lived this frustration firsthand. We built Pivot because we couldn't find what we needed, and because we believe procurement shouldn't be the last function to enter the AI era. It should be the first. The adventure started mid-2023 with three founders, former C-levels from fintech unicorns (Qonto and Swile) and highly experienced engineers from top-notch tech companies. We’ve since raised $40M in a Series B round, totaling our funding to $70M, coming from tier-1 investors. We’ve built a team of 70, are operating across 25+ countries, and are trusted by enterprise leaders like DoorDash, Lemonade, Wolt, and Flix We're looking for smart, execution-driven people who care about building something exceptional. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Be among the first AI engineers at Pivot! * Ship high-impact AI features end-to-end, such as document understanding, smart procurement workflows, fraud and anomaly detection, data enrichment, and copilots for buyers and finance teams. * Build the core LLM application & orchestration layer, from prompts and retrieval to tool calling, agents, and structured outputs. * Set up our AI engineering foundations, including evals, datasets, prompt/model versioning, observability, and safe rollout practices. * Design a pragmatic, scalable AI architecture, covering model routing, caching, retries, async workflows, vector storage, and data pipelines. * Own quality, trust, and performance for enterprise-grade AI features, including accuracy, latency, cost, auditability, and fallback strategies. * Work closely with product, design, frontend, and backend teams to turn ambitious AI ideas into reliable product experiences. * Raise the AI engineering bar across Pivot, sharing knowledge and best practices, tools, and processes as the team grows. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES * You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including 2+ years shipping AI/ML features to production - with strong programming skills in Python or one other backend language (Typescript, Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala, C#, Ruby). * You have hands-on experience with the modern LLM stack: frontier and open-source models, RAG, embeddings & vector databases, agent frameworks, and evaluation tooling. * You understand MLOps fundamentals: eval pipelines, dataset versioning, monitoring, drift detection, and safe deployment of probabilistic systems. * You understand backend systems (databases, APIs & 3rd-party integrations, security, performance) and are comfortable in micro-services and event-driven architectures. * You are rigorous about best practices and know how to translate them to the AI world (evals as tests, prompts as code, data as a first-class artifact). * You are fluent in English - it is our business language MINDSET * You care about solving real user problems, not adding AI for the sake of it. * You think product-first, with a strong focus on user experience, business impact, and measurable value. * You are pragmatic about technology choices: you know when to use a frontier LLM, a smaller model, a classifier, a rule-based system, or a simple regex. * You like turning ambiguity into simple, reliable systems, and you are comfortable starting from zero. * You write high-quality code and make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, robustness, cost, and maintainability. * You are curious, open-minded, and non-dogmatic, with a willingness to challenge ideas and be challenged. * You enjoy the pace of an early-stage scale-up, taking ownership, moving fast, and bringing clarity when things are still being defined. * You are a strong team player, eager to share knowledge, raise the bar, and build with smart, kind, and ambitious people.
