We are a full-service consulting firm specializing in the design and execution of power generation and power delivery systems across a range of markets: utility-scale wind, solar, BESS, and high-voltage substations, transmission, and distribution infrastructure. What You’ll Do * Apply core electrical engineering principles to the design of high-voltage systems (substations, T&D, utility-scale renewables) * Lead engineering tasks from project kickoff through to design package completion * Collaborate with civil, structural, SCADA, and protection & control engineers to deliver integrated project solutions * Prepare technical documentation: one-line diagrams, studies, specs, reports, BOMs, proposals, and client-facing deliverables * Ensure designs meet NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA, ANSI, and other industry standards * Support project managers with estimating, proposal writing, and client communication * Participate in interdisciplinary reviews and QA/QC efforts across engineering teams * Occasionally travel (less than 20%) for field walkdowns, client meetings, or construction support Focus Areas (Team Dependent) Protection & Control (P&C) * Design P&C packages: one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, relays, communication diagrams, SCADA points * Conduct battery sizing, voltage drop, and conduit fill calcs * Develop relay settings and perform arc flash and coordination studies * Interface with SCADA/RTAC systems and vendors for major equipment submittals Electrical Studies * Perform studies: short circuit, load flow, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonics, arc flash, etc. * Use software tools such as ETAP, CYMCAP, PSS/E, SKM, ASPEN, PSCAD, EMTP, and more * Draft interconnection studies and evaluate compliance with utility or ISO requirements * Translate technical findings into clear client-facing reports What We’re Looking For * Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited) * 5–10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus in power systems, renewable energy, or substations * Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office, and at least one power system analysis software Pay Range - $90,000 - $150,000 Disclaimer  While AI tools may support your application process, this role is built on human talent. What You’ll Do * Support the design and engineering of high-voltage substations for utility, renewable, and power delivery projects * Contribute to both physical substation design and Protection & Controls (P&C) engineering packages * Lead or support engineering tasks from project kickoff through IFC/design package completion * Coordinate closely with civil, structural, SCADA, relay, and project management teams to deliver integrated solutions * Prepare technical deliverables including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, grounding plans, conduit/raceway layouts, cable schedules, bills of material, specifications, reports, and client-facing documents * Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases * Occasionally travel for field walkdowns, client meetings, factory acceptance testing, or construction support Focus Areas Physical Design * Develop and support substation physical layout and design packages for high-voltage projects * Prepare or review: * General arrangement drawings * Plan and elevation drawings * Grounding layouts * Conduit and cable routing plans * Control building layouts * Equipment connection details * Foundation and equipment interface coordination * Coordinate major equipment layouts including transformers, breakers, switches, bus systems, CCVTs/PTs, CTs, panels, batteries, and other station equipment * Work closely with civil and structural teams to align grading, foundations, trenching, and equipment placement * Support development of material lists, specifications, and installation details Protection & Controls (P&C) * Develop and support P&C design packages including: * One-line and three-line diagrams * AC/DC schematics * Wiring diagrams * Relay panel layouts * Interconnection diagrams * Communication diagrams * SCADA point lists * Perform engineering calculations such as battery sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, and cable sizing * Support relay setting development, protection philosophies, and coordination with OEMs and system stakeholders * Contribute to arc flash, coordination, and other protection-related studies as applicable What We’re Looking For * Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program * 5+ years of experience in substation engineering, power delivery, utility, or renewable energy projects * Experience supporting physical design, Protection & Controls, or both within substation projects * Strong understanding of high-voltage substation systems and design practices * Experience developing engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, grounding plans, and design packages * Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards including NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and NFPA * Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications * Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain * Experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects, transmission, or high-voltage infrastructure * Familiarity with relay coordination, SCADA integration, grounding design, and substation design standards * Experience with ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, CYMCAP, or similar power system software is a plus Pay Band - $110,000 - $165,000 base + bonus + benefits.  Disclaimer  While AI tools may support your application process, this role is built on human talent. This role will focus on structural design and drafting support for renewable energy projects, including PV racking and tracker systems, equipment foundations, structural details, site coordination, and construction drawing packages. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer who enjoys technically detailed renewable energy projects and wants exposure to the full structural design process for Solar PV and BESS facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing structural drawing packages, coordinating with engineers and designers across disciplines, and supporting projects from conceptual design through IFC deliverables and construction support. Key Responsibilities * Support the development of structural design drawing packages for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects. * Prepare and revise structural layouts, foundation plans, pile layouts, racking/tracker details, equipment pad layouts, steel support details, and construction details. * Support structural design for PV tracker systems, fixed-tilt racking, inverter skids, transformer pads, BESS equipment pads, PCS equipment, and related balance-of-plant structures. * Coordinate with structural engineers, civil teams, electrical teams, project managers, vendors, and other design staff to ensure deliverables are accurate, complete, and aligned with project scope. * Incorporate design markups, redlines, vendor information, geotechnical data, survey information, and client comments into structural drawing packages. * Assist with material take-offs, drawing updates, as-builts, and construction support documentation. * Support project execution from conceptual layout through detailed design, IFC packages, and construction support. * Maintain drawing quality, design consistency, and adherence to applicable codes, client standards, project specifications, and Atwell procedures. * Work with multidisciplinary teams across renewables, civil/site, electrical, substation, transmission, and interconnection-related projects. * Support construction and field activities as needed, including responding to design questions, RFIs, and field-related drawing revisions. Qualifications * Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in structural drafting/design, civil/structural design, renewable energy design, or related field. * Minimum of 3+ years of structural design or drafting experience, preferably supporting Solar PV, BESS, renewable energy, power delivery, industrial, or civil infrastructure projects. * Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, or other structural/design platforms is a plus. * Experience preparing structural design packages, including foundation plans, equipment layouts, structural details, sections, notes, schedules, and construction drawings. * Understanding of structural components such as steel supports, concrete foundations, equipment pads, piles, racking systems, tracker systems, and balance-of-plant structures. * Ability to read and interpret engineering markups, vendor drawings, geotechnical reports, survey data, and project specifications. Preferred Experience * Experience supporting utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects. * Familiarity with PV racking systems, single-axis trackers, fixed-tilt systems, driven piles, inverter pads, transformer pads, BESS container pads, PCS equipment pads, and other renewable energy structural elements. * Experience coordinating with civil, electrical, substation, transmission, and geotechnical teams on large-scale energy projects. * Exposure to structural design software or analysis tools such as RISA, STAAD.Pro, L-Pile, Enercalc, or similar platforms is a plus. * Familiarity with renewable energy project phases, including conceptual layouts, permit drawings, detailed design, IFC packages, construction support, and as-builts. * Ability to support multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining drawing quality and design consistency.
