About 9fin
9fin is the AI platform powering global debt markets — the world’s largest asset class at over $145 trillion.
Debt markets are vast, global, and mission-critical, yet still run on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual workflows. 9fin replaces
this broken infrastructure with a single platform that centralises proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value
workflows across global markets.
Today, 9fin powers teams at 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide, including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms,
law firms, and advisors. The business is scaling at exceptional speed, with rapid expansion in the US and best-in-class retention
driven by deep workflow adoption.
We’re at a defining inflection point. With proven product-market fit and strong, global market pull, 9fin is accelerating toward
becoming the category-defining platform for debt markets worldwide.
We are looking for a Senior Developer Experience Engineer to help make software development at 9fin faster, simpler and safer.
This is a software engineering role focused on the tools, systems and paved roads that other engineers use. You will work across
the software development lifecycle, from creating a new service through to testing, deployment, observability and operating it in
production.
You will join an established Platform team and work alongside our existing Developer Experience Engineer. You will speak directly
with engineers, understand where they are losing time or carrying unnecessary complexity, and build solutions that teams want to
adopt.
Your customers are 9fin's software engineers. You will have the autonomy to solve problems that help them build products quickly,
securely and to a high standard of quality.
The goal is not to centralise every engineering decision within Platform. It is to give teams sensible defaults, effective
self-service tools and a clear path to production.
Every day is different, but here are examples of the kind of things you’ll work on:

The team here brings sharp judgement, real craft, and the drive to do exceptional work. We're obsessed about the details and energized by the frontier. If you want to do the best work of your career, this is the right place. ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Platform Product Engineers to join our Security, Infrastructure and Performance team. This is a crucial, dual-faceted role that combines high-level engineering strategy with hands-on operational excellence. The successful candidates will be responsible for building, operating, and continuously enhancing the internal technology platform, fundamentally treating this platform as a product with all development teams as its primary customers. The Platform Product Engineer role is centered around embodying and executing DevOps principles, specifically focusing on: 1. Automation: Systematically removing manual toil from the software development lifecycle (SDLC) through the creation of robust tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC). 2. Collaboration: Fostering a tight, cooperative partnership with product development teams, gathering requirements, and delivering solutions that accelerate their productivity and time-to-market. 3. Continuous Improvement: Instilling a culture of iterative enhancement for the platform's reliability, cost-efficiency, and developer experience. This mandate is underpinned by a rigorous Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) mindset. The successful candidates will be instrumental in defining and upholding Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs), implementing effective monitoring and alerting strategies, and leading operational incident response processes. WHAT YOU'LL DO The core responsibility is to implement, maintain, and continuously improve the foundational platform infrastructure that powers all engineering services. This necessitates a relentless focus on ensuring high reliability, exceptional scalability, and optimal performance across the entire stack. * Platform Infrastructure: Build and maintain platform infrastructure using declarative IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi), ensuring all environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and auditable. Proactively manage the capacity of the infrastructure to consistently meet or exceed Service Level Objectives for latency, error rates, and availability. * Incident Response and Post-Mortems: Act as first-line responders for critical system incidents. Triage, diagnose, and resolve complex production issues rapidly. Drive a culture of blameless post-mortems, ensuring root causes are identified, and long-term preventative measures are implemented as code (e.g., via runbooks, automation, or system design changes). * Tooling & Automation: Own the stack of supporting tools necessary for operational excellence and developer enablement, including: * Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Pipelines: Implement, maintain, and evolve the fully automated CI and CD pipelines. This includes establishing best practices for fast, reliable, and secure build, test, and deployment processes. * Observability: Implement and manage robust systems for monitoring (metrics), logging (centralised log aggregation), and distributed tracing to provide deep insights into application and infrastructure health. WHAT YOU'LL BRING * Applied DevOps and SRE Principles: * Must have : Demonstrable, hands-on experience applying core DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to manage, monitor, and scale production systems. * Must have: A deep understanding of the SRE mindset, including SLO/SLA creation and monitoring, error budget management, toil reduction, and post-incident review (blameless postmortems). * Desirable: Proven ability to drive cultural and process change that fosters a collaborative approach between development and operations teams. * Cloud Infrastructure and Containerisation Expertise: * Must have: Expertise in one or more major public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure), encompassing network configuration, security best practices (IAM, security groups, etc.), compute services (EC2, GKE, ECS, etc.), and managed services (databases, queues, serverless functions). * Must have: In-depth knowledge of container technologies, specifically Docker, and extensive experience orchestrating them at scale using Kubernetes (K8s). This includes designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters, understanding networking (CNI), storage (CSI), and security configurations within the Kubernetes ecosystem. * Automation and Programming Skills: * Must have: Proficiency in one or more modern software languages (e.g., Typescript, Go, Python, Rust) and associated frameworks used for building high-performance, resilient production systems. * Must have: Proven experience developing robust, maintainable, and well-tested automation scripts, services and pipelines to manage infrastructure, deployments, and operational tasks. * Operational Tooling and Observability Management: * Must have: Experience owning, managing, and maintaining mission-critical operational tooling. * Desirable: Proven background in implementing and managing centralised logging solutions or similar platforms (e.g., Splunk, DataDog). * Desirable: Familiarity with distributed tracing tools (e.g., Jaeger, Zipkin) and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solutions. WHAT WE OFFER * Competitive salary of £95,000 to £125,000 * Equity in an early-stage tech company on an incredible trajectory * 25 days holiday plus local public holidays * Apple hardware * Private medical insurance through AXA * Pension contribution through Hargreaves Lansdown * Enhanced family leave * Team off-site in fun places! (We've been to Barcelona, Lisbon, Malta, and Split so far)
LemFi (Series B) is building the go-to financial app for the Global South. Moving to a new country shouldn’t mean starting from zero. That's why our team of 400+ spanning 20+ countries is building a financial ecosystem that helps immigrants stay connected to home, build stability, and create wealth regardless of where they are from or where they live. What began as fast, affordable remittances is now evolving into a complete platform for multi-currency accounts, payments, credit, and long-term financial growth. With millions of users across the globe, we process over $1B in monthly transactions to 30+ countries, proving that borders shouldn't limit financial opportunity. ABOUT THE ROLE LemFi is the financial engine for people the world wasn't built to serve. We move money, store it, lend it and protect it across ~21 countries - and the platform team is the force multiplier that lets every other engineering team do that at pace. This is the only platform hire we are making this year, which tells you how much we expect from this person. You will design, build and own our internal developer platform: a self-service, AI-powered environment that treats internal engineers as your customers and makes their experience of building on our cloud infrastructure genuinely fast and frictionless. You will touch everything from cloud cost efficiency to developer tooling to the golden paths that let product teams ship without waiting on ops tickets. If you have strong opinions about what great platform engineering looks like and a track record of building things from scratch, not just operating what someone else designed, this is the role. WHAT YOU'LL BUILD AND OWN * Design and build a self-service internal developer platform, golden paths, templates, guardrails, so engineers can provision, deploy and operate services without raising a ticket. * Embed AI-driven automation into the platform: intelligent cost optimisation, anomaly detection, auto-remediation and developer productivity tooling that actually gets used. * Own cloud infrastructure on AWS, architecture, cost efficiency, reliability and security posture, with clear metrics and accountability for outcomes, not just uptime. * Act as the internal product manager for the platform: talk to engineers regularly, collect requirements, prioritise by impact on developer velocity and run a visible roadmap. * Set and enforce platform standards, IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability, secrets management, turning good practice into the default, not the exception. * Identify and fix the biggest sources of friction in the engineering workflow, using data to prioritise and presenting findings to engineering leadership. * Work lean and autonomously: this is a high-ownership role on a small team, so you will need to push things to production yourself, not coordinate others to do it. YOUR EXPERIENCE * Proven track record building an internal developer platform or developer experience function from scratch, not just maintaining one someone else built. * Deep AWS expertise: you have designed cost-efficient, production-grade cloud architectures and you can defend every line of your Terraform. * Strong DevOps and platform engineering fundamentals: Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability stacks, IaC, and the judgement to know when to use each. * Experience treating internal engineers as customers, gathering requirements, running a backlog, measuring adoption, not just shipping tools and hoping people use them. * Comfortable working without a spec: you have operated in fast-moving environments where you set the direction as much as you follow it. * Proficient in at least one scripting or backend language (Python, Go, or equivalent) and confident building automation and tooling, not just configuring managed services. * You actively build AI-powered tooling into platform and infrastructure workflows, cost anomaly detection, intelligent alerting, automated runbooks, not just use AI in your editor. * You've built or contributed meaningfully to an internal developer portal (Backstage, Port, or a comparable in-house system) and can speak concretely to what worked, what didn't, and why. NICE TO HAVE * Previous fintech or regulated-industry experience where security and compliance constraints (PCI DSS, SOC2, or equivalent) shaped your platform decisions. * Exposure to multi-region or multi-currency infrastructure at scale, ideally serving markets in Africa, Europe or the Americas. WHY JOIN LEMFI? Love shouldn’t be expensive, yet those working hardest for their families often face predatory fees and banking exclusion. We're changing this. At LemFi, you won’t be just a cog in a machine. Whether designing products, scaling operations, or telling our story, you’ll tackle complex challenges with real, immediate impact. Your work goes beyond metrics - it puts money back in families’ pockets and offers access to the previously excluded. Join us to make a meaningful difference, where high performance is a lifeline for millions. You can connect with us on LinkedIn and Instagram and if you haven't already, download the app on the App Store or Google Play.
About 9fin 9fin is the AI platform powering global debt markets — the world’s largest asset class at over $145 trillion. Debt markets are vast, global, and mission-critical, yet still run on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual workflows. 9fin replaces this broken infrastructure with a single platform that centralises proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value workflows across global markets. With proven product-market fit and strong, global market pull, 9fin is accelerating toward becoming the category-defining platform for debt markets worldwide. THE OPPORTUNITY The AI Engineering team at 9fin is building the next generation of AI capabilities that will power our products for years to come. We're looking for a Senior AI Platform Engineer to help design, build, and evolve the core AI platform that enables Generative AI, Agentic AI, and machine learning applications across the business. This is an opportunity to join at the beginning of the platform's journey. Rather than inheriting a mature internal platform, you'll help shape its architecture, define engineering standards, and build reusable infrastructure that allows AI teams to move quickly, safely, and at scale. Working alongside backend engineers and AI engineers, you'll create the shared platform services that power everything from intelligent document understanding to autonomous AI agents capable of running scheduled workflows, generating morning briefings, identifying distressed companies, and supporting future AI-powered product experiences. Every day is different, but here's an example of the kind of things you'll work on: * Design, build and continuously evolve the enterprise AI platform that powers AI products across 9fin. * Develop scalable AI services supporting Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector search, model serving, and intelligent automation. * Build orchestration layers that transform structured and unstructured enterprise data into reusable AI capabilities. * Develop production-ready AI applications using modern LLM frameworks and orchestration tools. * Design reusable platform components for prompt management, model serving, vector search, embeddings, AI gateways, and evaluation services. * Build APIs, SDKs, and developer tooling that enable self-service AI development across engineering teams. * Design secure, scalable deployment pipelines for AI models and applications. * Build AI observability capabilities including monitoring, tracing, evaluation, cost optimisation, and production quality measurement. * Collaborate closely with AI Engineers, Backend Engineers and Engineering Leadership to define platform architecture and engineering standards. * Establish engineering best practices around testing, governance, Responsible AI, deployment, and operational excellence. * Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and evolve the platform as the ecosystem rapidly advances. WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT Unlike many AI Platform roles that focus on maintaining existing infrastructure, this role is centred around building the platform from the ground up. You'll join at an early stage where many architectural decisions have yet to be made, giving you genuine influence over how AI is built, deployed, and operated across 9fin. Within your first six months, you'll help build the platform that powers production AI agents capable of running autonomously in the background—supporting workflows such as scheduled market briefings, distressed company discovery, and future intelligent financial research products. Rather than owning a single AI product, you'll build the shared capabilities that enable multiple engineering teams to rapidly develop, deploy, and operate AI solutions at scale. You'll be one of a small number of senior engineers helping shape the technical direction of the platform alongside the Engineering Lead and fellow senior engineers. ABOUT YOU This role will be a great fit if you: AI PLATFORM ENGINEERING * Have 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years building AI/ML platforms, Generative AI applications, or production machine learning systems. * Have experience designing and deploying enterprise AI applications into production with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and developer experience. BACKEND & PLATFORM ENGINEERING * Are a strong backend engineer with production experience using Python and/or TypeScript. * Have designed scalable backend services, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures. * Have experience building reusable platform capabilities, internal developer tooling, SDKs, or shared engineering services. CLOUD & INFRASTRUCTURE * Have strong experience building cloud-native applications. * Are comfortable working with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and containerised deployments. * Have experience with solutions such as AWS Bedrock and AgentCore * Understand how to deploy, monitor, and operate AI services in production. AI OPERATIONS & OBSERVABILITY * Have experience implementing monitoring, tracing, evaluation, and cost optimisation for AI systems. * Have experience with observability solutions such as Arize Phoenix, Langfuse, or Langsmith * Understand the operational challenges of deploying LLM-powered applications, including latency, reliability, hallucination monitoring, and model quality evaluation. COLLABORATION & TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP * Enjoy collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines to shape technical direction and establish engineering best practices. * Are comfortable operating as one of a small number of senior engineers, influencing architecture and platform direction without necessarily having formal management responsibilities. * Thrive in fast-moving environments where many platform capabilities are still being designed and built. BONUS POINTS Experience with any of the following would be highly advantageous: * AI gateways and model routing * Prompt management platforms * AI evaluation frameworks * LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, DSPy, CrewAI or similar orchestration frameworks * Vector databases and semantic retrieval * Knowledge graphs or document understanding systems * Building internal AI platforms used by multiple engineering teams BENEFITS We’re a scaling start up, and we enjoy sharing our success, when the company succeeds, we always reinvest that in our people. We also offer huge amounts of responsibility, an abundance of opportunity for growth and a platform to truly excel. Financial & Insurance * Competitive Salary (our salary bands are benchmarked at the top end of the market) * Equity * Pension (your minimum contributions are 4% with 9fin matching up to 7%) * Private Medical Insurance * Paid sick leave with Income Protection for long periods of illness * Group Life Assurance * Season Ticket Loan & Cycle to Work schemes Time off * 25 holiday days per year * Local public holidays (with the ability to exchange them for alternative days) * Hybrid working model, to allow you the flexibility to decide how, where and when you do your best work * Work abroad for up to 3 months a year * 1 month paid sabbatical after 5 years of service * Enhanced parental leave & flexible working arrangements available Training & Culture * Professional learning and development budget * AI experimentation budget of £800 (UK) per employee to trial AI tools * Quarterly team socials * Summer and Winter company social events 9fin is an equal opportunities employer At 9fin we are dedicated to building and promoting a fair and inclusive workplace where everyone can reach their full potential and truly belong.
