P-1514 At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world's toughest problems — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Founded by engineers — and customer obsessed — we leap at every opportunity to tackle technical challenges, from designing next-gen UI/UX for interfacing with data to scaling our services and infrastructure across millions of virtual machines. And we're only getting started. Founded by engineers, Databricks has started a multi-year journey to build the best Lakehouse Platform. For this we are building on top of a great foundation but our goal is to go further to build dramatically better products. We want to revisit every component to provide our customers with the fastest, easiest to use and most secure data platform for all their data workloads. Lakebase enables teams to deliver applications faster with an optimized database developer experience, integration with the lakehouse, and simplified operations. It provides a managed Postgres transactional layer for application state and workloads that combine operational data, analytics, and AI. You'll join as one of the founding engineers to build out both the Lakebase product and our London presence. Below are some example teams you can join: Lakebase Platform Reliability: Constantly evolving Lakebase Reliability. That includes cross-functional infrastructure, observability, SLI/SLOs definition and measurements, as well as achieving higher operational efficiency without the need for humans-in-the-loop (both internal and customer-facing), via building AI-powered automation and services Lakebase Manager (LBM): Build and operate the central control plane that owns the core logic for Lakebase — database creation and deletion, wake-up and suspend, maintaining computes on hot standby, HA failover, and more. LBM interacts with every Lakebase component — storage, compute, proxy, and console — managing the full database lifecycle at scale with a focus on reliability. Lakebase Proxy: Build the heart of the Lakebase data path — the network edge that every customer touches. The proxy handles all client connections and transfers every byte of query traffic, serving every data protocol: Postgres, HTTP, WebSockets, and Data API. We route and manage large volumes of concurrent connections, solving load balancing, authentication, and data access at high throughput. We focus on performance, observability, and reliability to ensure the data path is fast and resilient. The impact you will have: Our backend teams span many domains across our essential service platforms. For instance, you might work on challenges such as: * Problems that span from product to infrastructure including: distributed systems, at-scale service architecture and monitoring, workflow orchestration, and developer experience. * Build reliable, secure and high performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing humongous amount of data on cloud storage backends, e.g., AWS S3, GCS, Azure Blob Store. * Develop product features that empower our customers to easily store and access their data. * Solve reliability problems related to Lakebase. * Actively find causes of downtime and systematically improve or remove root causes. * Help the org define SLIs, meet SLOs, and drive long-term reliability improvements. What we look for: * BS degree (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field. * 8+ years of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language. * Experience developing large-scale distributed systems. * Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures. * Knowledge of SQL. Retire the ERP Light exists to replace factory-era ERPs with software that feels alive. Our Smart Financial Platform gives modern, global companies superpowers - automated accounting, real-time reporting, and financial flows that move at the speed of the business. We build with our customers, ship fast, and obsess over craft. In a short time, Light has gone from idea to the operating core for leading companies like Lovable, Legora, and Fuse Energy. We're an early team defining a new software category. Think engineers who love debits and credits, designers who care about reconciliation states, and operators who treat finance as a product. If you're excited to modernise how companies run money, you're in the right place. Backed by world-class investors including Balderton and Atomico and advised by industry titans, we're building category-defining products with the freedom to ship ambitiously and own outcomes. Come help us make Light the global default for next-gen finance. About the Role You'll embed inside our most important customers and rebuild how their finance function works. You’ll map how the team really works, redesign the workflow, wire the integrations, and ship the agents, all to make sure they work in AI-native ways and are using Light to its full potential. Your customers are Financial Controllers, Finance Directors and CFOs at fast-growing multinational SaaS and tech companies. Senior, technical, time-poor. You'll sit with them, diagnose the real problem, build the answer - then train them to run it without you. This is a founding role in a new motion. Part process designer, part builder and deployer. You partner with an Account Manager who owns the stakeholders and the commercial; you own the process re-design and agent deployment. No two customers look the same, and there's no set playbook yet. You'll write it, and we’ll help. Key Responsibilities * Embed with a customer's finance team, map and redesign their workflows AI-first * Wire the integrations - pull data from ERPs, banks, and billing into Light * Configure, ship, and supervise AI agents in production until the customer trusts them * Hand back a workflow the customer runs themselves, and train their team from go-live * Diagnose the edge cases the playbook doesn't cover, and ship the answer * Measure & prove the impact against a week-0 baseline * Partner two-in-a-box with your Account Manager, and pull in platform and AI engineering when you need them * Feed repeatable patterns to the Product roadmap Experience & Qualifications * 3+ years close to how finance teams actually work - accounting, process design, consulting, or technical customer success * You build & tinker. Vibe coding, data pipelines, and LLM agents are tools you reach for, and you ship working software, not slideware * You're fluent enough in finance to hold your own with a Controller on multi-entity, consolidation, and reporting - and to know when a request won't work * You bring structure to messy problems and move fast: diagnose, prototype, harden, ship * You're comfortable in front of a CFO and next to an engineer, and you've delivered without formal authority over anyone * You use AI tools daily and have specific opinions on where they help in delivery and where they don't * Fluent English; additional European languages a plus * Bonus #1: Solutions or integration engineering background; experience mapping and redesigning finance processes and with AI agents in production (evals, guardrails, …) * Bonus #2: A finance / accounting qualification You'll probably struggle here if * You need a spec handed to you - here you find the problem, then build the answer * You've only worked on internal products, never sat in front of a customer * You think "redesign the process" means "automate what exists". The job is to rethink it from first principles and inject AI where it makes sense * You want a big platform team to lean on - you'll have part-time support, not a safety net * You've used ChatGPT once and weren't impressed - we go all in on AI at Light The good stuff In addition to being part of a great team and working in a really fun and innovative environment, we offer: 💸 A competitive salary + potential stock options 🏝 Generous package of paid annual leave + public holidays 🥳 Regular socials and company off-sites (last time was in Piemonte, next time is in Provence) 🚀 A huge opportunity for career growth as you'll help shape a market-defining motion The famous last words Working at Light means you're embarking on an exciting journey to reshape the future of multinational financial operations. Our cheat-code is that we've built something like this before - and are now doing it again, only better. Our goal is to make global finance effortless and empower companies to make informed decisions. Join the rocket ship while it's taking off 🚀
Retire the ERP. Light exists to replace factory-era ERPs with software that feels alive. Our Smart Financial Platform gives modern, global companies superpowers - automated accounting, real-time reporting, and financial flows that move at the speed of the business. We build with our customers, ship fast, and obsess over craft. In a short time, Light has gone from idea to the operating core for leading companies like Lovable, Legora, and Keyshot. People don’t just use Light - they enjoy it. We’re an early team defining a new software category. Think engineers who love debits and credits, designers who care about reconciliation states, and operators who treat finance as a product. If you’re excited to modernise how the world runs money - one workflow at a time - you’re in the right place. Backed by world-class investors and advised by industry titans, we’re building category-defining products with the freedom to ship ambitiously and own outcomes. Come help us make Light the global default for next-gen finance. About the Role You'll own several concurrent implementations end to end — from contract signature to go-live. The plan, the customer relationship, the scope, the timeline, the outcome. You hand over to Customer Success once the customer is live. Your customers are Financial Controllers, Finance Directors and CFOs at fast-growing multinational SaaS and tech companies. Senior, technical, time-poor. They expect you to keep up on multi-entity accounting, consolidation, intercompany, multi-currency and statutory reporting — and to tell them straight when they're asking for something that won't work. No two implementations look the same. Every customer brings problems that don't have a textbook answer — a consolidation edge case, a migration shape the playbook doesn't cover, a process that needs rebuilding before it can be automated. You'll work the problem, ship the answer, and move on to the next one. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Own several concurrent implementations end to end, from kickoff to go-live * Run the customer relationship through implementation — Controllers, Finance Directors, CFOs * Translate finance requirements into platform design — chart of accounts, entity structure, consolidation logic, reporting * Lead data migration — chart of accounts mapping, opening balances, historical data, cutover * Hold scope through the project — keep delivery aligned to what was sold, surface and reset drift early * Push back on requests that won't work, and bring the customer with you * Spot projects going off-track before the customer does, and intervene * Train and enable customer finance teams to run on Light from day one of go-live * Contribute to the playbooks, templates, and patterns the team builds over time EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS * Degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field * 5+ years in finance transformation, ERP implementation, or finance advisory — Big 4, a finance-focused boutique, or a vendor-side professional services team (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Workday Financials) * You are fluent in accounting and can hold your own with a Controller on multi-entity consolidation, intercompany eliminations, accrual accounting, statutory vs management reporting. Qualified accountant is a plus, not a requirement * You bring structure to messy projects — clear plans, sharp prioritisation, and the judgement to know which details matter and which don't. * You excel at building trust with C-suite executives and finance leadership teams through clear communication and consistent delivery. * You are comfortable working cross-functionally — you have delivered through Product, Engineering, Sales, and customer teams without formal authority over any of them * You diagnose implementation issues quickly and deliver practical solutions that balance customer needs with technical feasibility. * You have a real implementation with your name on the go-live — vendor-side, consulting-side, or as the lead on a customer-side migration. Not "I've used an ERP" * You use AI tools daily, have specific opinions on where they help in delivery work and where they don't * Fluent English; additional European languages a plus * Bonus: multi-jurisdiction experience (IFRS, US GAAP, local GAAPs); experience losing a customer or missing a go-live and learning from it YOU'LL PROBABLY STRUGGLE HERE IF * You've only ever implemented one ERP, or only ever on one customer - you’ll be running multiple implementation projects simultaneously. * You need a PMO, a mature methodology, or a big delivery org around you to operate - you’ll be operating in a startup environment, without a large structure/org surrounding you, ownership and a self starter nature is key * You've never owned a go-live solo; someone else was always accountable - see above! * You can't give a concrete example of telling a senior customer "no" and making it stick * You've used ChatGPT once and weren't impressed - we go all in on AI at Light and need people just as passionate about it! The good stuff In addition to being part of a great team and working in a really fun and innovative environment, we offer: 💸 A competitive salary + potential stock options 🏝 Generous package of paid annual leave + public holidays in the country where you are based. 🥳 Regular socials and company off-sites (last time was Northern Italy and next time is in October). 🚀 A huge opportunity for career growth as you'll help shape a market-defining product. The famous last words Working at Light means you're embarking on an exciting journey to reshape the future of multinational financial operations.
