Proxima Fusion is Europe’s fastest-growing fusion company and the continent’s best-funded fusion player, as well as the first
spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). Backed by over €650M and powered by a growing team across Munich,
Zurich, and Oxford, we are developing the hardware and infrastructure needed to deliver the world’s first commercial stellarator
fusion power plant.
Our concept advances the most mature fusion technology out there, the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, through two next-generation
machines: Alpha and Stellaris. Our work combines stellarator optimization, advanced computation, machine learning, and
high-temperature superconducting magnets to unlock higher-performance designs that were previously out of reach.
Turning these designs into a functioning fusion power plant requires excellence and ownership across every discipline, from
physics and engineering to software, manufacturing, law, and business functions.

At Proxima Fusion, our mission is bold: making limitless clean energy a reality. To get there, we need a high-performing, diverse
team that brings different perspectives, challenges assumptions, and builds together with purpose. We know that diversity of
thought and experience leads to better ideas, stronger execution, and a more resilient team. We don’t look at how you identify,
what you look like, who you choose to worship or what ethnicity you are. We care about what you can bring to the table.
About the Role The mission of Neural Concept's Application Engineering team is to help industry leaders redefine how they design products — by bridging cutting-edge AI technology with real-world engineering challenges. We work hand-in-hand with engineering, design, and executive teams across automotive, aerospace, and energy to understand their strategic needs and deliver solutions that create measurable impact. As part of this team, you will sit at the intersection of business and technology — translating complex customer challenges into high-value AI-powered solutions, and ensuring those solutions actually land and stick within our customers' organizations. This is a role for someone who thrives equally in a boardroom conversation with a VP and in a deep-dive technical session with engineers. If you're excited about shaping how industry leaders adopt AI and about being a trusted advisor to some of the world's most sophisticated engineering teams, this is the role for you. What you will do * Understand and shape customer strategy: Engage with senior stakeholders (VP, C-level) to understand their business challenges, articulate the value of AI-assisted design, and co-design high-level solution roadmaps. * Design and deliver solutions: Translate business requirements into concrete technical approaches using NC's platform, working closely with customer engineering teams and internal developers. * Drive adoption: Guide customers through AI adoption — from proof-of-concept to full integration — ensuring teams are equipped and confident to use new workflows. * Be the bridge: Act as the link between customer needs and NC's product evolution, feeding insights back to our development team to continuously improve the platform. Who you are * You are a strong communicator and trusted advisor — you can engage confidently with senior stakeholders (VP, C-level), build relationships quickly, and drive alignment around complex, ambiguous problems * You have experience designing solutions end-to-end: from understanding a business need to translating it into a concrete technical approach * You are comfortable working in a customer-facing environment, navigating both executive conversations and deep technical sessions with engineering teams * You hold a Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field — or have equivalent experience in an industrial or consultancy setting * You have a solid understanding of engineering simulation concepts (CAD/CAE, CFD, FEM, or similar) — whether from an academic or industry background * You have working knowledge of machine learning and how it applies to engineering problems; hands-on experience with Python and ML/deep learning frameworks is a strong plus * You are intellectually curious and eager to tackle real-world engineering challenges through AI and automation * You are fluent in English and German (preferably native) We value different balances of business and technical skills. Whether your strength is in solution design and stakeholder management, or in hands-on implementation, we want to hear from you. What You Get * Work with a world-class technology team – our engineers are top-notch, and we always aim for excellence. * Benefit from a competitive salary and rewarding opportunities as we continue to scale. * Thrive in a collaborative, multicultural environment where your work is visible and recognized. * Develop professionally alongside talented colleagues who share knowledge freely and support one another. * Make a global impact by helping customers shift to AI-assisted design, making innovation faster, smarter, and more sustainable. * Balance life and work with a hybrid model and flexible hours—we care about results, not rigid schedules. WE'RE PROUD TO BE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER, AND WE'RE COMMITTED TO BUILDING A DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT WHERE YOU CAN THRIVE.

For over 20 years, Smartsheet has empowered teams to manage work seamlessly and scale solutions smarter. Now, in our most ambitious chapter yet, we are uniting human teams with AI agents. By orchestrating the work agents do best, automating manual tasks and uncovering insights at scale, we create the space for people to focus on what truly matters: judgment, creativity, and big thinking. That is magic at work, and it’s what we show up for every day. You independently lead the most complex AI deployments Smartsheet undertakes. You own the full engagement lifecycle from technical discovery through production deployment through solutions org handoff. You architect multi-agent solutions, design client-personalized MCP resource packs, and build the Deployment Kits that transform how 200+ solutions consultants and partners operate. You mentor junior FDEs, drive the intelligence loop, and present field findings at weekly Applied AI strategy sessions. You are building a function, not filling a role. You will work remotely from Germany and will be reporting to Sr. Director, Engineering You Will: * Lead complex, multi-system AI deployments end-to-end scope, architect, build, validate, and manage the customer relationship throughout. * Own the AI workshop program for your pod, customize modules per customer, lead technical sessions, translate outputs into production requirements, evolve content from field learning. * Architect multi-agent solutions selecting the right coordination pattern for each customer's workflow characteristics and compliance requirements. * Design client-specific and industry-specific MCP resource packs that serve personalized intelligence from the server so every connected AI surface gets smarter for that customer automatically. * Own Deployment Kit quality for your pod. If a kit is not documented well enough for a solutions consultant with no engineering background to follow, it isn't done. * Lead Solutions Enablement Sprints: transfer AI deployment patterns to solutions consultants and partners with training materials and certification criteria. * Drive the intelligence loop: author strategic memos, present field findings weekly, contribute Agent Bricks and Skills, file RFCs for platform improvements. * Mentor junior FDEs on customer engagements, code reviews, and Deployment Kit quality. You Have: * 6–10+ years production software engineering, including 3+ years deploying AI/ML to production. Deep Python; strong TypeScript/JavaScript. * Proven track record leading complex enterprise technical engagements. You think in platforms, not projects. * Strong written and verbal communication. Architecture documents, runbooks, strategic memos, training materials. Your Deployment Kits are your portfolio. * You leave teams better than you found them. You make sure the people you work with understand what was built, why it works, and how to own it without you. * Ability to travel. This role requires domestic and international travel approximately 25–50% of the time. * Eligible to work in Germany on an ongoing basis. * Fluency in English is required. * BS or MS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience. Nice to Have: * Experience founding or scaling an FDE/solutions engineering function. * Technical founder background. Databricks, AWS Bedrock, or Temporal experience. * Deep domain knowledge in healthcare, financial services, or government. Agent framework contributions (Strands SDK, LangChain, open-source MCP servers). * Proficiency in German/French language will be an added advantage. * Familiarity with AI governance, ethics, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, UK/EU AI Act).
