At The Exploration Company, we are developing Huracan, a throttleable cryogenic rocket engine designed for lunar landing
applications. Huracan brings together a wide range of highly integrated technologies that must operate reliably and with high
precision under demanding conditions.
To retain full control over the engine’s performance and technical development, we design its key technologies in-house, including
the electric pumps, power electronics, embedded software, and control systems used to operate critical engine functions.
We are seeking a Power Electronics Control Engineer to join the propulsion team developing Huracan. In this role, you will take
ownership of the control strategy for the engine’s electrically driven systems, from modelling and simulation through
implementation and experimental validation.
We want you to help us achieve reliable and high-performance operation of these critical systems. This hands-on position combines
technical leadership, practical problem-solving, multidisciplinary collaboration, and active involvement in laboratory testing.

YOUR MISSION We are seeking a highly skilled Senior High-Voltage Airborne Electronics Engineer (all genders) to design, develop, and validate high-performance power control and conversion hardware. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in power electronics design, component selection, simulation, PCB design, testing, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and cost-effective power solutions. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Design and develop power electronics hardware including power distribution & protection units, solid-state power controllers and DC-DC converters. * Capture requirements and manage them systematically in a traceable way. * Create schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs for power electronic systems. * Perform circuit analysis, simulations, and design optimization (thermal, EMI/EMC, efficiency, reliability). * Select and qualify power components such as Power MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC/GaN devices, magnetics, and passive components. * Lead prototype build, bring-up, debugging, and validation testing. * Conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements. * Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards (UL, IEC, ISO, etc.). * Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, procurement and quality teams. * Support production ramp-up, manufacturing test development, and field issue resolution. * Prepare and maintain technical documentation, test reports, and design reviews. YOUR PROFILE * Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or related field. * More than 5 years of professional experience. * Strong background in power electronics theory and practical hardware design. * Experience with electrical protection, power semiconductors, converter topologies and control methods. * Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer (preferred), OrCAD, or KiCad. * Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, power analysers, electronic loads). * Solid understanding of electronics packaging, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and safety design. * Ability to debug complex hardware issues independently. * Experience with wide bandgap semiconductors (SiC,GaN). * Familiarity with simulation tools (LTspice, PLECS, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink). * Knowledge of high-voltage and high-power systems. * Experience with testing hardware under high-voltage (>800V). * Experience with DO-254 process. * Experience with aerospace & defence standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704). * A valid (car) driving licence is preferred for occasional travel between our locations. YOUR MISSION As a BMS Software Engineer (all genders), you will join the VÆRIDION R&D team within the Technology division. You will be responsible to lead the development of software required for our propulsion battery management and power distribution for VÆRIDION’s CS-23 all-electric aircraft. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of the High Voltage Electrical Power System at the core of VÆRIDION’s novel propulsion system. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded software for propulsion battery and power distribution from prototypes to future airworthy systems. * Implement software development processes and toolchains in compliance with aviation standards and regulations. * Define and document software requirements, specifications, and interfaces for the high voltage electrical power system. * Collaborate closely with cell, electrical, and thermal engineers to develop robust and efficient algorithms for battery state estimation, cell balancing, fault detection, power control, and thermal management. * Conduct thorough testing and validation of the software, including integration testing with other aircraft systems. * Support system integration, iron bird/field testing, and certification efforts, providing expertise on software functionality and performance. * Stay current with advancements in battery technology, software development methodologies, and aviation regulations. YOUR PROFILE * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time applications. * Proven track record of designing and implementing software for safety-critical systems, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industries. * Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). * Experience with battery management systems, electric propulsion, power electronics, or related fields is highly desirable. * Familiarity with aviation standards such as RTCA DO-178C and DO-254 is a plus. * Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. * Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams. * Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or other language would be beneficial. ABOUT THE ROLE We are developing the avionics system of a rocket engine powered by electric pumps. The team is responsible for the design, integration, testing, and qualification of the engine electronics and embedded software. We are looking for an Senior Electronics Hardware Test & Qualification Engineer to help structure, execute, and industrialize our electronics test activities. This role is intended for someone who is both rigorous in test definition and reporting, and hands-on in the lab. The objective is to help mature our electronics hardware from prototype bring-up to qualified and deliverable units by defining test strategies, preparing test campaigns, building test means, executing tests, analyzing results, and producing clear verification evidence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS We are looking for someone who enjoys the interface between engineering design and real hardware testing. The ideal candidate is rigorous enough to define proper test strategies and qualification evidence, but practical enough to build a test adapter, debug a signal on an oscilloscope, and improve a lab setup. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-moving development environment where hardware is still evolving, tests need to be structured, and technical issues must be solved pragmatically. The role requires both engineering discipline and hands-on ownership. * Define, structure, and maintain electronics test strategies for ECU, inverter electronics, and future control boards, from development testing to qualification and acceptance. * Translate requirements into test cases, procedures, acceptance criteria, and verification evidence, ensuring clear requirements-to-test traceability. * Prepare, organize, and execute electronics test campaigns, including board bring-up, functional testing, hardware/software integration, inverter testing, and power HIL. * Design, build, and maintain hands-on test means such as test boards, breakout boards, harnesses, adapters, loads, and instrumentation setups. * Analyze test results, write clear test reports, document deviations, and support qualification or delivery reviews. * Support hardware debugging and anomaly investigations using schematics, measurements, logs, and lab instrumentation. * Improve test bench robustness, repeatability, safety, configuration control, and automation. * Work closely with electronics, power electronics, embedded software, control, mechanical/thermal, supplier, and test teams to ensure avionics hardware is testable, integrated, and deliverable. WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU * Hands-on experience in electronics hardware testing, board bring-up, debugging, validation, or qualification. * Ability to read schematics, PCB documentation, datasheets, interface specifications, and requirements. * Experience preparing test plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and test reports. * Practical experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, DAQs, multimeters, logic analyzers, CAN tools, or power analyzers. * Ability to design or assemble simple test boards, harnesses, breakout boards, adapters, or custom lab setups. * Good understanding of embedded electronics interfaces such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, ADC/DAC, discrete I/O, and power interfaces. * Experience with test automation using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools would be a strong plus. * Experience with aerospace, automotive, defense, rail, robotics, energy, or another safety-critical hardware environment would be highly appreciated.
