Lovable is growing at a pace that most finance leaders never encounter. We are looking for a CAO who sees that not as a challenge to manage, but as an opportunity to build something exceptional. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, SOX controls, and tax management, and you will do so in a way that keeps pace with the business rather than slowing it down.
This person will design systems and processes that are scalable by default, light enough not to create friction, and robust enough to carry Lovable through an IPO and beyond. You will know when to build for now and when to build for what comes next, and you will have the judgment to tell the difference.
Controllership & Financial Close
Lead all aspects of accounting operations including month-end close, quarterly close, and annual audit: with a mandate to shorten cycle times.
Own revenue recognition policy and execution under ASC 606 / IFRS 15, critical for
Lovable's subscription and usage-based SaaS model.
Oversee equity accounting and stock-based compensation (ASC 718 / IFRS 2), cap table integrity, and secondary transaction accounting.
Manage treasury operations including cash management, banking relationships,
FX risk, and liquidity planning across global entities.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
Design and implement a SOX-compliant control structure; own ongoing SOX readiness as the company moves towards public markets. Controls should protect the business without creating checkpoints that slow it down; your job is to make compliance feel invisible to the teams it serves.
Develop a high-quality corporate governance environment: introduce and improve policies, procedures, and the overall control framework.
Serve as the technical accounting decision-maker in partnership with the CFO; implement accounting policies across the organisation under IFRS and applicable local/US GAAP.
Build and oversee the global tax compliance function including transfer pricing, international tax structures, and intercompany policy.
Systems, Technology & Team
Champion AI in the finance tech-stack and ensure Lovable’s finance function is making use of the best tools and systems to automate processes.
Build efficiencies and scalable processes across the function, with a capability to innovate on how a modern finance team operates.
Stay compliant with international accounting laws and build a future-proof finance infrastructure.
Serve on the finance leadership team; collaborate with the CFO and fellow leaders on functional and people priorities.
Recruit and develop a lean, high-calibre accounting team. Hire people who are comfortable with automation, ambiguity, and pace, and build a culture where the team improves the system, not just runs it.
IPO Readiness & SEC Reporting
Play a central role in IPO readiness: owning the S-1 / F-1 preparation, financial disclosures, and coordination with underwriters and external counsel.
Establish and lead the SEC reporting function (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) to ensure Lovable is prepared to operate on a public record from day one.
Participate in and lead relevant portions of Audit Committee meetings; manage relationships with external auditors through global PCAOB audits.
Partner with Investor Relations post-IPO on earnings releases, MD&A drafting, and financial communications to analysts and the Board.
The ideal candidate will have the following key experience
Big Four accounting experience and an active CPA (or international equivalent).
Deep technical accounting skills with detailed knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, including ASC 606, ASC 718, and SOX compliance.
A track record of designing and implementing finance systems, ERP platforms, and reporting processes from scratch in environments where businesses are growing faster than the infrastructure.
Experience overseeing internal and external audits conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ideally experienced in a hyper-growth B2B or B2C subscription environment; has seen scale to $500M of revenue and beyond.
Partnering with operations finance, tax, and treasury to develop solutions and strategies that support investment and execution objectives.
Building strong relationships with business partners, auditors, executive staff, and the Board.
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Preferred (not required): Experience leading or playing a senior role in a scale-up’s IPO process on a US exchange (NASDAQ or NYSE), including hands-on SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K).
The ideal candidate will have the following key characteristics
Driver, not passenger
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate at pace in a pre-IPO, high-growth environment; you act today, not tomorrow.
Results-oriented: you set bold deadlines, hold yourself accountable, and lean in when things feel messy or unclear.
Builder mentality: energised by creating processes, teams, and infrastructure from scratch, not just maintaining what exists.
Care deeply
Meticulous attention to detail and analytical thinking, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insight.
Outstanding communication skills, able to manage and influence key stakeholders across the Board, executive team, auditors, and investors.
Dares to be different: willing to challenge conventions and bring a fresh perspective to how a modern finance function should operate.
Build a legacy
A strong leader with high IQ / EQ who obsesses over talent, holds a high bar, and builds high-performing teams with a long-term view.
Chooses candour over comfort: gives clear, direct feedback and welcomes the same in return; an ability to challenge and engage in debate in a respectful, healthy way.
High level of integrity, ethics, and professional judgement; tames ego, lifts the team with shared credit, and prioritises collective success over individual glory.
Business-minded with critical judgement; a peer to the management team and an unwavering commitment to compliance and governance.
