Join us in helping companies and people communicate in more meaningful ways to make life-changing decisions together.👫 We are now looking for a Legal Counsel to join our team in Stockholm KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Contributing to our business goals by providing the business with proactive, clear, and relevant legal advice. * Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating various types of agreements including SaaS, supplier/vendor, partnership, reseller, data processing and DORA agreements, including providing public procurement RFP support. * Managing the impact of GDPR, EU AI Act and other European and global regulatory frameworks, including impact on product features. * Researching into specific legal topics, for example multi-national regulatory regimes. * Monitoring updates in legislation or directives that may be relevant to our business * Establishing efficient and high-quality workflows (for KM and AI use) based on business needs. WHO ARE YOU? * Qualified lawyer with +3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in-house or at a technology-focused firm/department. * Fluent in Swedish and English, bonus if you speak French (or other third language). * Eager to learn, researching and compiling information about legal topics. * Able to prioritise a high volume of parallel tasks, ranging from detailed to strategic, without losing quality or composure under commercial pressure. * Able to switch between detailed focus and business overview. * Clear, direct communicator who can explain complex legal issues clearly and relevantly across different parts of the organization (Sales, Marketing, CSM, Product etc). * A true team player, happy pull your weight in a small and supportive team, without constant supervision. The role As Regulatory & Compliance Counsel at Legora, you will be central to our legal technology innovation, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing legal risks, and supporting business operations across all teams. As part of the legal team, you will provide compliance guidance to commercial and product teams on matters ranging from data privacy to AI governance. This is a high-trust, high-responsibility role with clear business impact, requiring you to operate with autonomy, sound judgment, and precise execution. You will serve as a strategic partner to product development, InfoSec, and commercial teams, leveraging your legal expertise to identify solutions and drive innovation in our mission to transform legal work globally. What you will be doing: * Provide compliance oversight and guidance to senior stakeholders across operational, commercial and product teams on regulatory matters, risk assessment, and compliance frameworks for new services, processes, contracts, partnerships, and supply chains. * Review and provide compliance input on commercial contracts, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies. * Conduct compliance assessments of product designs, data flows, and operational processes, identifying regulatory risks and developing risk mitigation strategies. * Contribute to building legal infrastructure: templates, playbooks, and internal tooling, including how we use Legora to operationalize legal work and collaborate across teams. * Develop and maintain privacy compliance programs, conduct data protection impact assessments, and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable data protection regulations; and * Establish efficient and scalable compliance frameworks and monitoring systems, developing compliance policies and guidelines that enable teams to proactively integrate regulatory requirements and compliance controls into products and processes. Who you are: * Law degree (LL.M. or equivalent) from Sweden, the UK, or an EU-jurisdiction, qualified to practice in that country. * Proficiency in spoken and written English. Additional language skills are meritorious. * 4+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or as in-house counsel. * Proven expertise advising on GDPR, CCPA, and cross-border privacy compliance. * Familiarity with ISO standards and global compliance frameworks (e.g. AICPA SOC). * Strong experience negotiating B2B SaaS agreements and supporting commercial teams. You’re an excellent negotiator. * Strong legal judgment and confidence in making decisions independently * Highly organised, responsive, and solutions-oriented * Comfortable working across time zones in a global environment, and owning your priorities * Your focus is on achieving meaningful business outcomes, translating into actionable advice delivered clearly and comprehensively. * You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic entrepreneurial environment and rapidly evolving business setting. The role As a Commercial Counsel in Legora’s Stockholm office, you will play a central role in supporting one of the fastest-growing legal technology companies globally. You will work closely with our commercial teams, advising on a broad range of matters with a primary focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. This role requires a high degree of independence and the ability to operate across multiple time zones, partnering closely with stakeholders to enable deals while managing risk. You will report to the Head of Legal, based at our Stockholm headquarters. Legora’s legal function is a forward-deployed, AI-first team working across multiple jurisdictions and legal disciplines. We act as trusted partners to the business, with particular focus on product development, operations, and commercial initiatives. Beyond strong legal judgment, we value curiosity, problem-solving, and a proactive mindset — looking for pragmatic solutions as we help redefine how legal work is done globally. What you will be doing: * Act as a commercial legal partner to the business, working closely with senior stakeholders in Growth, Operations, and Procurement on customer and supplier engagements. * Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of customer and supplier contracts, with a strong focus on closing deals efficiently and pragmatically. * Advise on commercial risk allocation, pricing structures, liability, and contractual protections within customer and supplier agreements. * Support go-to-market and procurement activities by enabling scalable, repeatable commercial contracting practices. * Address data protection and compliance considerations primarily within the context of customer and supplier contracts, ensuring risks are appropriately managed without slowing execution. * Develop and maintain commercial templates, playbooks, and guidelines to standardise negotiations and improve deal velocity. Who you are * Law degree (LL.M. or equivalent) from Sweden, the UK, or an EU-jurisdiction, qualified to practice in that country. * Proficiency in both spoken and written English. Spanish and/or German language skills are considered a plus. * 3-5 years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or as an in-house legal counsel. * Strong experience negotiating B2B SaaS agreements and supporting commercial teams. You’re an excellent negotiator. * Strong legal judgment and confidence in making decisions independently. * Experience in handling corporate matters and drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. * Experience with data privacy matters, IT security and/or corporate law is meritorious. * Your focus is on achieving meaningful business outcomes, translating into actionable advice delivered clearly and comprehensively. * You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic entrepreneurial environment and rapidly evolving business setting.
