You know that bit where every company says they’re “changing the world”? Yeah, it can feel a little forced. But we like to think
our story actually has some realness to it.
Our story begins with Shadi Bitar and Ninos Malki, who came to Sweden from Syria as kids and discovered that books could be a
bridge – helping them learn the language, understand the culture, and explore new worlds.
A thought emerged, what if everyone could have that? And just like that, Nextory was born – your all-access pass to read, listen,
and discover new perspectives without limits.
And now, we’re searching for a Product Engineer with backend focus who’s ready to lead the way in our app development.
Let us tell you about the role 📖
As a Product Engineer with a backend focus at Nextory, you will be involved throughout the entire product development journey,
from exploring ideas and understanding user needs to implementation, launch, and continuous improvement. You will join the team
responsible for Nextory’s recommendation and discovery experiences, helping readers find the right content at the right time.
We believe that the future of software engineering is more about authoring intent than writing lines of code.
You will work across the stack with a primary focus on backend development, integrations, data-driven features, and building
reliable, scalable systems. Together with product managers, designers, data scientists, and fellow engineers, you will develop and
improve recommendation solutions that create real value for our users. You'll have the opportunity to grow your technical skills,
deepen your product understanding, and make a meaningful impact on how users discover books and stories on our platform.
Your story so far 👀
We believe you are a curious and product-minded engineer. You thrive in collaborative environments and are just as comfortable
collaborating with humans as you are working alongside AI-powered tools, agents and workflows to scale your own impact.
These are a few of the technologies we work with
We don’t expect you to have experience with everything that we’re using. We care more about having strong engineering fundamentals
and a curiosity to learn.
Backend: Java
Cloud & Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform
Databases, Caching & Messaging: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka

Tech Innovation at Apotea Apotea is Sweden’s largest online pharmacy. We are rebuilding our core platform on a modern cloud-native architecture and investing in our technology stack. In Tech, our vision is to move toward AI-first, automated and data-driven systems — not by adding AI on top of legacy workflows, but by redesigning how software is built and operated. We focus on scalable, observable systems owned by engineers end-to-end. We are now looking for Senior Full-Stack Software Engineers who want ownership, impact and engineering challenges. The Role As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will design, build and operate distributed backend systems and modern frontend applications that power Apotea’s core products and emerging AI-driven experiences. You will own the full software lifecycle: architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring and improvement — from database design and backend services in Go to frontend experiences for teams and customers. You will work with data engineers, ML engineers, product managers and business stakeholders to turn problems into production systems, including agentic AI applications where software agents interact with data, services and workflows. Key Responsibilities Full-Stack System Design & Implementation: * Design and build backend services in Go for distributed, cloud-native applications. * Build frontend applications that connect users to data, workflows and AI-powered capabilities. * Build APIs and event-driven components across e-commerce, logistics, data and AI platforms. * Design systems with scalability, resilience and observability in mind. Database Design & Data Ownership: * Design application-level data models and database schemas. * Make informed trade-offs between storage approaches. * Understand query patterns and performance implications. * Integrate operational systems with analytics and ML pipelines. Agentic AI Applications: * Build production-grade agentic AI applications that integrate LLMs with real systems and workflows. * Design services that enable AI agents to act safely with business data. * Collaborate with ML and data engineers to operationalize AI in real products — not demos. * Help define guardrails and patterns for reliable AI-driven systems. Engineering Excellence: * Write clean, maintainable, production-quality code across backend and frontend. * Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions. * Build automated tests and CI/CD pipelines. * Take responsibility for production reliability and incident resolution. * Improve engineering standards, tooling and AI-assisted coding workflows. We are looking for someone with: * Strong experience as a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer building production systems. * Proven experience with Go (Golang) in backend environments. * Solid understanding of distributed systems and modern architectures. * Experience building frontend applications. * Experience with database design and application data modeling. * Strong fundamentals: testing, versioning, CI/CD, documentation and code quality. * Ownership mindset and ability to balance speed and quality. * Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude. Nice to Have * Experience with A/B testing or experimentation frameworks. * Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming systems. * Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures. * Experience building AI-powered or agentic applications. * Exposure to high-scale e-commerce, logistics or data-heavy environments. * Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, CDK or CloudFormation. Why Join Apotea? * A stable, future-focused company with a meaningful mission to improve healthcare accessibility. * Work on AI, ML and automation projects that impact millions of customers. * Work with modern cloud-native, automated and event-driven systems. * Join a flat, agile organization with minimal bureaucracy. * Grow through training, mentorship and industry conferences. * Collaborate in a transparent, cross-functional environment. * Own projects from concept to deployment.
