and we are looking for an experienced and diligent Project Management Assistant / Senior Project Coordinator to join our team.
Our Programme Managers work across the whole product development cycle, from product strategy and front-end concept generation,
through technical feasibility and detailed design, to transferring the idea to manufacture. Our clients come to us because we are
able to structure and deliver complex projects that create a step change in performance, where technical innovation is the only
way to achieve their goals.
The main purpose of the job is to be the Programme Manager’s trusted partner in delivering Cambridge Consultants most complex and
high value projects, resulting in exceptional innovation and client satisfaction.
In this busy and fast-paced role, you will become a member of an established and experienced programme management team,
responsible for the delivery of a wide range of exciting projects. The role of Project Management Assistant is an excellent
opportunity for an ambitious individual and is intrinsic to the successful delivery of the overall programme.
With the support and guidance of your team, your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

INTRODUCTION SUMMARY We are on the lookout for a talented and ambitious Project Manager or, Technical Team Leader with an interest in moving into Project Management, to join our Programme Management team here in Cambridge, UK. The role will work with our Defence & Security clients, undertaking the development of innovative new products across the entire product life cycle. The role will be primarily project management for our defence and security clients within UK government, although there may be scope to get involved in a variety of projects for our commercial and wider public sector clients. Projects typically consist of early concept work, through prototype manufacture, to new product introduction, often surmounting considerable technical challenges as we push the boundary of what is possible. We combine highly creative lateral thinking with excellent technical skills and we’re looking for broad defence and security industry experience to help us form powerful development teams. The projects you will lead will typically be highly complex, spanning the entire product development lifecycle. Your specific responsibilities will vary according to your expertise but are likely to include: * Developing project proposals that meet our government clients’ commercial and technical requirements – this will be primarily for UK-based government clients * Delivering projects with a significant amount of S&T (Science and Technology) or Research and Development content * Management of the delivery of projects that solve complex, multi-disciplinary technical challenges, across multi-office teams * Team building and leadership of multiple project teams * Capturing technical product requirements and resolving system level discussions, requiring a strong technical background * Experience of managing end‑to‑end bidding and tendering processes, including bid management, stakeholder engagement and governance. * Running meetings with clients, presenting and communicating ideas and concepts to all disciplines * Working with Business Developers in building relationships with clients to understand their programme needs. * The ability to lead, influence and motivate an extensive team to deliver exploitable project outputs; * The ability to manage and influence stakeholders to ensure project success. This role will require some domestic UK-based travel but is focussed on managing project teams within the Cambridge office. We have adopted a hybrid working model, with a mix of both home and office working, based on project need but the expectation for 3 days on site per week. WHAT YOU CAN BRING You will have experience of project managing small to medium sized technical product development projects or are a technical lead of an engineering discipline within a larger project. Ideally you will have a degree in engineering, or a relevant scientific discipline, with hands-on experience of planning tasks and tracking the progress of a team to deliver against those tasks whilst addressing issue as they arise. Naturally you will also have strong time management, written and verbal communication, and organisational skills. As a Mid-level Operation Management Assistant, you will support business management activities by providing financial insights, analyzing business performance, supporting commercial negotiations, and contributing to project financial management. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Management, or a related field. Solid knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement analysis. Strong understanding of project finance management, including budgeting, profitability, revenue recognition, cost control, billing, collections, and financial risk management. Good understanding of commercial business terms, including payment terms, credit terms, guarantees, invoicing, and collection processes. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications. Skills & Competencies Strong financial analysis and analytical problem-solving skills. Excellent business understanding and the ability to interpret financial data in a commercial context. Ability to identify risks, opportunities, and provide practical recommendations. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to coordinate work across multiple departments and functions. Structured, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Proactive mindset with a high level of ownership and execution capability. Preferred Experience Previous experience in financial analysis, FP&A, business finance, management accounting, finance business partnering, or project finance. Experience supporting project management, budget tracking, profitability analysis, billing, collections, or financial risk management. Experience supporting customer negotiations involving finance-related commercial terms is considered an advantage. Experience from ICT, energy, engineering projects, B2B business, or project-based organizations is highly preferred. Language Requirements Fluent English is mandatory. Fluent Chinese is mandatory. The opportunity We are looking for a dedicated Project Assistant who will ensure that our customers receive their deliveries of important products on time. In this role, the contingent worker will be a central point of contact between our sales team and our customers, handling the entire order process from registration to delivery follow-up. How you’ll make an impact Handle customer orders from registration to delivery, with a focus on accuracy and fast execution. Create and follow up on invoices. Maintain regular communication with customers and suppliers to coordinate order status and resolve any issues.
