daily operations on the milieu, spending most of their time actively engaging with BHTs and YIU Clients. The Milieu Manager
provides supervision and support for Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) and Admissions and Logistics Coordinators. This role is
responsible for ensuring BHTs have support, modeling appropriate care, leading interventions and ensuring the unit schedule is
followed. The Milieu Manager collaborates with the clinical treatment team to oversee a range of administrative and clinical
activities in support of running a safe and therapeutic milieu. General Summary of Duties : Assist in the development of milieu
curriculum. Train, coach and supervise BHTs in their work Train, coach and supervise Admissions and Logistics Coordinators in
their work. Conduct ongoing assessment of milieu acuity and client risk, collaborating in a timely manner with staff as needed to
ensure effective de-escalation and use of least restrictive alternatives up to seclusion and restraint. Collaborate with treatment
team to organize physical interventions with clients as needed including assembling staff, directing actions, ensuring safety of
staff and clients. Participate in physical interventions as indicated by agency training and principles, Facilitate post-incident
debriefings. Collaborate with YIU Mental Health Professional in the development of individual client behavior plans Ensure
therapeutic programming is conducted by applicable team members. Work with Clinical Manager and Director on any needed changes to
daily schedule and milieu curriculum. Facilitate pass down with nurse at every shift change. Promote the enhancement of positive
staff morale by facilitating a timely response to concerns, ensuring respectful and professional internal communications,
facilitating team building and providing opportunities for staff recognition. Supervise screening and admissions workflow,
ensuring a timely and organized admissions process. Develop staffing plans based on unity census and acuity trends. Ensure
Admissions and Logistics Coordinator creates and maintains YIU master schedule at least 6 weeks in advance. Monitor recruiting
dashboard, screen BHT applicants and schedule interviews. Oversee on-boarding and orientation completion for direct reports Direct
and oversee kitchen operations, inventory controls, and purchasing processes. Attend all mandatory trainings on time and as
scheduled. Keep current on all required documentation (i.e., food worker permit, counselor licenses, etc.). In addition to the
above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description. Supervisory
Responsibilities : Yes Average of 5-7 direct reports Supervision of BHT I, BHT 2, and Admissions and Logistics Coordinators
Hiring, training, coaching, supervision, and scheduling of direct reports. Assist clinical manager in annual performance review
process. Minimum Qualifications : EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology , Social Services, Behavioral Health or Education OR
High School Diploma and 8 years of experience in behavioral health. EXPERIENCE: 5 years’ (social services, behavioral health or
education). 1 year experience in staff supervision. Valid Washington Food Handler card. LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor
Registration. Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire; training provided by the organization).
Preferred Qualifications: EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Psychology , Social Services, Behavioral Health or Education EXPERIENCE:
Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness in high-intensity/high-acuity setting. 2 years’
experience in staff and program supervision. Performance Requirements: KNOWLEDGE: Maintain working knowledge and skill in verbal
de-escalation skills as outlined in agency trainings Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health
Experience with theory and practice of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques. Act as
therapeutic presence within milieu SKILLS: Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other
employees, clients, organizations, and the public. Capacity to effectively manage a team. Demonstrated experience providing direct
service to individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviors. Ability to communicate quickly and effectively in high acuity
situations. Ability to react quickly and perceive environmental stimuli accurately. Confidentiality- able to maintain
confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards. ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
Demonstrated ability to work in stressful situations (i.e., clients in crisis). Demonstrated ability to work effectively through
complex situations toward joint solutions Adaptability- able to adjust approach to meet changing demands and situations including
working with diverse populations. Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers,
printers, telephones, etc. Work Environment : Office and inpatient treatment unit. Mental/Physical Requirements : Performing the
essential duties of the job requires: Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to ascend and descend stairs
and navigate indoor environments safely. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (occasionally). Ability to assist
with client movement and transfers, with or without assistance, in accordance with training and safety protocols. Ability to
safely participate in crisis intervention, including implementation of approved de-escalation techniques and physical restraints
in accordance with agency training and policy. Ability to move quickly and respond to emergencies, including rapid repositioning
or short-distance movement to maintain safety. Ability to use hands and arms for reaching, handling, and manipulation, including
reaching above shoulder level. Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials and observe surroundings. Peripheral vision
sufficient to monitor clients and the environment. Hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and detect environmental and
behavioral cues. Ability to meet and maintain physical requirements demonstrated through agency-mandated training, including
demonstration of ability to: maintain balance, twist torso, forward bend, pivot, sidestep, forward and backward step, crouch, move
