As a Combustion Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and environmental compliance of our gas turbine combustion systems. Your work will span the full product lifecycle, from supporting new technology development to resolving operational challenges across our global fleet. How You’ll Make an Impact Plan and execute combustion testing, analyse test and operational data, and troubleshoot field issues to improve performance, emissions, reliability, and fuel flexibility across both new developments and the existing fleet. Support the development, validation, and optimization of combustion technologies for current and future products. Collaborate with colleagues across Design, Controls, Performance, Service, and Product Support to deliver effective technical solutions. Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to customers and internal stakeholders. Help advance technologies that enable lower emissions, increased fuel flexibility, and a more sustainable energy future. Additional Information This role includes supporting our global product fleet as part of the normal day-to-day work. Following onboarding and experience building in the role, you will also take part in an occasional planned support rotation. The rotation occurs infrequently, typically less than once per month, and may involve daytime support during weekends. What You Bring You Either have experience in hot gas turbine commissioning, Emission tuning or have an academic background with a degree in Experimental Combustion, Fluid Dynamics or Chemical Engineering. Preferably Proven experience in combustion engineering and a deep understanding of combustion principles and technologies. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proficiency in English; Swedish is a plus. At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 800 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade. Your mission We are seeking a highly motivated Turbomachinery Engineer to join our Propulsion team. You will lead the design and integration of the turbomachinery components, including the fuel system and pitch control system. You will interface across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and control systems to deliver a fully integrated and certifiable propulsion unit. Job Description Senior Function Development Engineer within the Thermal Management and Hydraulics area for xEV powertrains and vehicles. Your main responsibility will be to work with the development and implementation of our new inhouse application software using Embedded Coder instead of TargetLink. The work scope within the group includes thermal energy coordination between the different elements of a xEV powertrain and comfort of the passenger compartment. This includes controlling the heating and cooling of the combustion engine, e-machine, transmission, power electronics, battery and cabin. We are responsible for the complete process from requirement breakdown to final calibration in vehicle, which means that the team consists of a mix of calibration engineers and function developers. Depending on your background and interest the scope could also include supporting with function development of our current SW and/or calibration and verification activities on engine rig or in vehicle to fulfill the attribute targets of the powertrain and vehicle. Örebro University and the School of Science and Technology are looking for a doctoral student (PhD student) for the doctoral programme in Chemistry, concluding with a doctoral degree. Start date: Fall 2026. Project description The doctoral student will be part of the research project COAST PFAS – Coastal PFAS Transition Lab for Source Control, Substitution and Governance, a transdisciplinary initiative addressing the spread of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from urban and industrial sources to coastal environments. The project combines environmental analytical chemistry, wastewater and stormwater research, process understanding, and systems perspectives to support preventive and sustainable PFAS management. The PhD project is connected to the work package PFAS flows from land to sea, which focuses on identifying, mapping, and quantifying PFAS sources and transport pathways in urban water systems and coastal environments. The research will include targeted and non-targeted PFAS analysis in wastewater, stormwater, industrial effluents, and receiving waters. The research will also include the development of sector-specific PFAS fingerprints and mass-balance approaches. The doctoral student will work with advanced analytical methods including LC-MS/MS, combustion ion chromatography, extractable organofluorine (EOF), oxidation methods for PFAS precursors, and high-resolution mass spectrometry for suspect and non-target screening. The work also includes interpretation of large analytical datasets and integration of results into source-tracking and fate-assessment frameworks. The project is conducted in close collaboration between IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Chalmers University of Technology, Örebro University, VA SYD, and Malmö City. The doctoral student will be part of an interdisciplinary and international research environment involving analytical chemistry, environmental engineering, and sustainability research. The position involves collaboration with researchers and stakeholders across academia, industry, and the public sector, and parts of the research may therefore be conducted at different research institutions and partner organizations in Sweden and internationally. The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in field sampling campaigns, laboratory work, workshops, and collaborative research activities within the COAST PFAS Transition Lab. We are looking for a Ph.D. student to conduct ground-breaking research using machine learning methods with the aim of developing a new generation of welding materials. The project is multidisciplinary, and you will work closely together with experts at Chalmers and industry with long and recognized experience of welding science and AI methods. About us The Ph.D. student will be employed at the Division of Energy Technology at the Deptartment of Environmental and Energy Sciences at Chalmers University of Technology. We conduct research and offer education mainly in energy technology and energy systems. Our research focuses on combustion and gasification of biomass, technologies for carbon dioxide avoidance, development of energy materials, and sustainable energy systems. The current project will be carried out in close collaboration with the Division of Chemical Physics at Chalmers, which conducts fundamental research with respect to computational materials using first-principles methods and machine learning approaches. About the research project Welding is, in many ways, the backbone of our society and is prevalent across most industries, including automotive, energy, and manufacturing. Still, the industry is associated with high resource use and depends on certain strategic and critical metals. In this project, financed by the Swedish Energy Agency, you will work closely with industrial partners ESAB and Höganäs, with the overall vision of developing effective algorithms for rapid, robust predictions of welding materials.
