floor. We build the whole stack in-house - hardware and software, we're explicitly not a hybrid or remote-first company - you
can't build robots or walls from home, so we're onsite five days a week.

About the role
We are looking for an assembly & prototyping technician to join our team. You’ll be part of our machine shop team, and working
closely with our hardware and software engineering team.
This role is a generalist technician role in a small startup environment with a lot of variety. You will be responsible for
assembling small production series and occasionally building prototypes of our construction robot hardware, including our
autonomous ground vehicles, construction cranes, supply systems, and end effectors. You will also be helping out with the
maintenance of our existing fleet of robots. After doing an assembly, you actively ask yourself how you could do it 10 times
faster if you had to do it over again.
We are unable to support relocation or sponsorship for this role. Applicants must be based in the Netherlands, eligible to work
and able to commute onsite to Amsterdam to be considered.

About the role We’re looking for an Electronics Engineer to join our hardware team. You’ll support our mechatronics engineers and collaborate closely with both hardware and software teams as we develop the next generation of autonomous construction robots. In this role, you’ll contribute directly to prototyping, testing, and refining the electronics that power our robotic systems. From autonomous vehicles and cranes, to tools and sensors, you’ll work across motor control, power, sensing, and communications. You’ll be involved in hands-on engineering tasks such as building test circuits, validating sensor integrations, supporting field tests, and debugging hardware issues. You’ll also help improve and maintain our growing fleet, learning from failures and iterating quickly on both designs and processes. What you’ll do * Supporting the prototyping and development of electronic systems for our autonomous construction robots and related equipment. * Working closely with senior engineers to build and test early-stage hardware, helping turn ideas and schematics into functioning systems. * Electronics testing and debugging, validating new and revised designs to uncover issues and help with remediation. * Iterating on prototypes back in the workshop: turning test results and engineering feedback into concrete design revisions across sensors, power, motor control, and communication hardware. * Joining the team on-site for field trials and deployments, instrumenting systems and capturing data on how they actually behave in real construction conditions. * Maintaining and occasionally troubleshooting our current robot fleet, ensuring systems are ready for deployment and in good working order. * Supporting the team with light electronics assembly and wiring tasks as needed during development. * PCB design and PCBA preparation: taking prototype setups into board designs for the next stage, and revising and improving existing production boards. What we’re looking for * A BSc, MBO, HBO, or similar in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or another relevant technical field), with solid experience and some great projects in their portfolio. * A strong foundation in electronics fundamentals, with hands-on experience through coursework, labs, or personal projects. * Familiarity with prototyping and testing circuits, and basic skills in soldering, wiring, and assembling test setups. * Tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and lab power supplies to debug and test subsystems and components are second nature to you. * Able to read existing schematics and under how components fit into a complete system. * Eager to learn in a fast-moving, collaborative environment where engineering and field testing go hand in hand. * Experience with BLDC motor control is a strong plus. Driving, commutating, or tuning brushless motors, whether from coursework, labs, or personal projects. * Experience with RF and wireless communications is a strong plus too, particularly UWB tracking and positioning, but also BLE, ZigBee, or general RF integration. * Familiarity with Altium ECAD is a nice plus, but not a requirement. THE ROLE At Ore Energy, we are on a mission to fundamentally expand the amount of energy society can reliably harness and use, helping move civilization toward a more abundant energy future. We are doing this by developing long-duration, utility-scale iron-air batteries that provide safe, low-cost, multi-day energy storage for electricity grids and data centers. We are expanding our technical development capabilities and are looking for two Junior Mechanical Engineers to join our team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will support the mechanical design, prototyping, and testing of our breakthrough iron-air battery cells, modules, and supporting hardware systems. Operating at the intersection of electrochemistry, materials science, and physical systems engineering, you will translate theoretical product requirements into practical, physical, and testable mechanical designs. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on, and iterative role for a curious, creative, and detail-oriented engineer who loves building, testing, and troubleshooting hardware in a fast-paced laboratory and workshop environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * CAD & Design Ownership: Create, update, and manage high-quality 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings for battery housings, seals, supports, and internal components. * Hands-on Prototyping: Build, modify, and inspect physical prototypes for development, structural analysis, and validation testing. * Testing & Troubleshooting: Actively participate in mechanical testing, experimental setup, and troubleshooting of prototype designs to assess tolerance, sealing, fit, and durability. * Root-Cause Analysis: Identify design weaknesses, contribute to root-cause failure analysis, and propose creative engineering improvements to simplify assembly, safety, and reliability. * Basic Engineering Calculations: Perform fundamental mechanical calculations, tolerance stack-up analyses, and basic structural design assessments. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with electrochemical, materials, and testing teams to ensure mechanical designs seamlessly support chemistry and performance requirements. * Technical Documentation: Systematically document design iterations, test observations, engineering changes, and key learning outcomes. YOUR PROFILE * Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Aerospace Engineering, or a highly related technical field. * CAD Proficiency: Strong foundational proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and a clear understanding of technical drawing standards. * Hands-on Mindset: A proactive, physical problem-solver who genuinely enjoys working with tools, building experimental setups, and handling hardware in a workshop or lab. * Analytical Curiosity: Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset with a fast learning curve and a deep curiosity for battery technology and energy storage systems. * Navigating Ambiguity: Comfortable working in an iterative design environment with evolving technical requirements and challenges. * Collaboration & Communication: Highly collaborative, open to feedback, and possessing excellent communication skills in English to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

We are expanding our product development capabilities and are looking for a Product Development Engineer – Air Systems to join our team in Amsterdam. Our iron-air batteries "breathe" air, meaning that conditioning and purifying incoming air and managing gases internally is a critical subsystem of our product. In this role, you will lead the design, process calculation, prototyping, and validation of our air-processing and gas-management support systems. We are looking for a highly resourceful, hands-on Mechanical Engineer who has practical experience in Direct Air Capture (DAC) or advanced gas-adsorption technologies. You will bridge the gap between process concepts (mass balance, pressure drop, sorbents) and physical mechanical reality, building functional physical systems that protect and optimize our battery chemistry. This role reports directly to the Chief Product Officer (CPO). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * System Design & Sizing: Design and develop active air-treatment, gas-separation, and humidity/temperature conditioning subsystems. Perform key process calculations, mass balances, flow dynamics, and system sizing. * Component Selection: Evaluate, specify, and source active mechanical components, including sorbents, filters, gas membranes, reactors, valves, pumps, and blower systems. * Hands-on Prototyping: Build, plumb, and wire laboratory-scale proof-of-concept units and pilot-scale air-handling rigs from scratch. * Experimental Testing: Design and execute test campaigns to evaluate gas-adsorption capacity, pressure drop across beds, regeneration behavior, and thermal/energy efficiency. * Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose technical issues, trace failure modes in air/gas handling loops, and convert experimental data into clear mechanical design improvements. * Subsystem Integration: Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrochemical, and controls teams to integrate air systems with cell modules, sensors, and structural housings. * Technical Documentation: Document system architecture requirements, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process concepts, and validation outcomes. YOUR PROFILE * Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (strongly preferred) or a highly related discipline (such as Process/Chemical Engineering with a heavy, proven focus on physical machine design and plumbing). * Direct Air Capture (DAC) Background: Practical, hands-on experience in Direct Air Capture (DAC), gas-adsorption systems, or closely related gas-purification technologies. * Prototyping & Plumbing Mastery: Strong physical troubleshooting and assembly skills. You must be completely comfortable working with pumps, pneumatic valves, compression fittings, tubing, vessels, and gas sensors in a workshop or laboratory environment. * Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret process data, model flow behaviors, and perform thermodynamic or mass-transfer calculations. Experience with MATLAB, Python, or automated control systems is an advantage. * Pragmatic and Autonomous: Highly self-directed, resourceful, and excited to build experimental setups from scratch in a fast-paced hardware scale-up environment. * Communication: Flawless professional English. Able to explain complex air-processing dynamics clearly to cross-functional battery development teams.
