We are currently expanding our R&D team and are looking for Mechanical Design Engineering with experience in areas such as interior design, exterior design, vehicle systems and standard components and materials.
The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of components and systems that define the performance, functionality, and quality of our cars. You will be surrounded by dedicated colleagues who value teamwork, precision, and creativity in every step of the process.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the design and development of components and systems within the R&D Engineering department. This will include all development phases from conceptual design to end of production, and will require close collaboration with all parts of the organization, including but not limited to; Prototype, Testing, Procurement, Production, Quality, CAE and Homologation departments.
Design mechanical systems & solutions with emphasis on performance and quality using a ‘first principles’ approach
Generate 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings using Catia V6 / 3DExperience
Design and facilitate tests to verify component function and that requirements are met
Carry out data analysis to perform root cause analysis, promote reliability and improve performance
Assist in selecting and interacting with suppliers and technology providers to ensure quality and performance targets are met
Work closely with the Prototype dept. during concept validation phase
Provide technical support leading to successful introduction of components and systems into and throughout production
Assist in the creation of design standards and help to enforce them within the team
Mentor entry-level engineers
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in engineering design for Automotive/Aerospace or similar industries.
Proven understanding of assembly design, DFM and durability of components
5+ years Advanced CAD capabilities (CATIA V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE)
Proven experience of working with FEA
GD&T design and application
Proof of previous design of components for state-of-the-art manufacturing methods
Work experience from top tier automotive or motorsport industry
Practical hands-on experience working with cars/racing or similar (either professional or hobby)
Material science (material selection, heat treatment and surface treatments etc.)
Vehicle Architecture and packaging
Previous leadership experience

What you’ll be doing As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be at the heart of developing the next generation of Aira’s intelligent heat pumps and home energy systems. Your key responsibilities will include: Designing and developing mechanical parts and assemblies, Bills of Materials and component selections tailored for high-performance heat pump systems and its accessories. Creating detailed technical documentation, including 3D models and 2D drawings (experience with PLM tools and SolidWorks is highly valued). Actively contributing to project meetings and reporting progress to product management, ensuring accurate planning, follow-up, and monitoring of all activities within the designated area. Collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure compliance with customer needs, regulatory standards, and the overall product vision and requirements. Exploring and integrating innovative materials and tooling methods, for example within plastics and sheet metals, to enhance product quality, sustainability, and long-term reliability. Designing enclosures for electronics, such as PCBAs and/or similar, by plastic injection molding and/or sheet metal. Working closely with industrial design, taking over A-surfaces, and realizing the CMF specifications. Collaborating with main suppliers and development partners. What you’ll bring to the role Solid experience in mechanical design or relevant technical fields, such as product development and mechanical engineering. B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Design & Product Development, or equivalent. Experience working with 3D tools for designing mechanical components in a 3D environment; SolidWorks proficiency is advantageous. Experience in consumer products involving electronics and embedded software. Experience in testing, reliability, and qualification of systems, either in-house or on the partner side. Proven track record in transitioning designs into mass production, ensuring rigorous quality control and reliability standards. Experience working in the conceptual phase, physical prototyping, hands-on testing, and sustainability. Experience working closely with industrial designers. Proficiency with tools such as PowerPoint or Adobe and the ability to present ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. Design Engineer – Valves We are looking for a Design Engineer to be a part of new product development as well as product maintenance within the valves and actuators product group. Part of your role is project oriented, and you will be an important part in project teams. Sometimes you will work on future concepts, innovation ideas not yet governed by any project. Working as a Design Engineer at Haldex, you will also interact cross functionally with other teams in different countries that is part of the SAF/Holland company group. Job description Development of new products mainly within the valves and actuator product group o Develop design solutions to meet required specification/s o Evaluate design solutions related to supplier process and internal assembly process with focus on the total cost solution. o Support the development of the product from conception through to manufacture and its maintenance. o Participate in technical discussions with suppliers and customers. o Create internal technical requirement specifications on product. o Support development of new test methods for new design elements/sub-systems. Product maintenance mainly within the valves and actuator product group o Improve and develop current products. o Understand and work according to Haldex Change Management Process for changes. Other o Review Customer product requirements. o Create and update technical specifications, i.e., drawings, models, calculations etc. o Analyze results from calculations and performed tests. o Take actions when faults are discovered both on product and in process. Support in quality related activities including root cause analysis (ex. 8D method). o Follow Haldex processes, and for design related processes continuous improvements as target. Education and Experiences § Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. § At least three years experience of working with pneumatics § We expect that you have Material knowledge and knowledge of manufacturing methods. § A documented skill in a CAD system, preferably CREO. § Knowledge in PDM system and base knowledge in MathCAD. § Tolerance analysis using software or other methodology. § Base knowledge in Finite Element Analysis program, preferably ANSYS workbench. § Good knowledge in Office software applications. § English fluent verbally and in writing. Experiences of automotive industry, Heavy Truck / Bus experience is meritorious. Recommended is at least five years of design and/or validation experience, preferably within automotive industry.
