Elastic's Finance team is expanding its indirect tax coverage in the APAC region. We are looking for a Senior Indirect Taxes
Analyst. This person will manage compliance in Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, and Singapore. You will prepare tax returns.
You will also perform reconciliations and defend audits. Additionally, you will work on improving processes.
These jurisdictions are: BAS lodgements for Australia, VAT returns for China, GSTR filings for India, Consumption Tax returns
for Japan, VAT returns for Korea, and GST returns for Singapore.

WHAT IS THE ROLE In this role as a Sr Payroll Analyst for the APJ region, you'll be supporting the Payroll Manager and collaborating with various internal teams to enhance our payroll systems across APJ. Your analytical skills will be put to good use as you work on benefits, HR, stock management, and sales commission processing, ensuring we deliver accurate and efficient payroll services. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING * Process payroll for the APJ region accurately and on time, while resolving discrepancies and addressing employee inquiries (ServiceNow). Coordinate the data entry and maintenance of payroll information systems and conduct reconciliations of payroll accounts to prepare payroll reports. * Implement data validation checks to ensure accurate payroll processing. Support stakeholders by fulfilling ad-hoc requests for payroll data analysis, delivering timely and insightful information. * Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations throughout the APJ region. Maintain current knowledge of payroll compliance requirements and best practices. Collaborate with the legal team to address compliance-related queries and implement necessary changes. * Generate and analyze payroll reports to identify trends and discrepancies. Prepare documentation for both internal and external audits related to payroll processing. Collaborate with finance teams to ensure payroll data reconciles accurately with financial reports. * Collaborate closely with HR teams to align on payroll-related issues. Facilitate effective communication between payroll and finance departments to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. * Maintain solid relationships with payroll vendors to ensure effective service delivery. Review and approve vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance. Monitor vendor performance to ensure adherence to service-level agreements and contractual obligations. * Country Scope: Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, New Zealand & Singapore. What you'll be doing: * Accurate preparation of UK VAT returns within required timeframes for multiple VAT registrations, following standard operating procedures. * Deliver exceptional support to multiple UK agencies, building relationships and representing the VAT compliance team as a trusted service provider. * Work with local Finance teams to build Indirect Tax calendar of filings, maintaining database of historic filing data, and keeping updated with VAT return filing and payment info. * Responsible for calculating monthly accruals and reconciliation of indirect tax accounts to VAT return. * Handle and respond to requests from the UK VAT Compliance senior manager and assist with tax audits including analysing various transactions and gathering of requested data. * Assist Indirect Tax Manager with required registrations for all UK companies. * Support UK VAT Senior Manager with ad-hoc projects and analysis as directed. What you'll need: * A minimum of 2 years proven experience in UK indirect tax compliance is essential. * Excellent writing and communication skills in English. * Advanced Microsoft Office skills. * Attention to detail and ability to analyse large volumes of data. * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
