The role: You will play an important role in developing data pipelines, frameworks, and models to support the understanding of our users and better product decisions. What you’ll do: Drive Architectural Vision & Execution * Design for Scale: Lead the architectural design and hands-on implementation of high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines using Spark and Kafka to process massive datasets. * Build Core Infrastructure: Develop, optimize, and maintain robust data models in BigQuery and orchestrate complex, multi-layered data workflows using Apache Airflow. * Operationalize AI/ML: Partner directly with Data Science teams to take machine learning models out of the lab and into production. Engineering Leadership * Engineering Standards: Drives the adoption of architectural best practices, robust testing methodologies, and high engineering standards across the organization. * System Evolution: Leads large-scale codebase refactoring, system health improvements, and the evolution of internal tooling. * Mentorship: Actively mentors senior and junior engineers, conducts rigorous architectural/code reviews, and guides the team's long-term technology choices. ABOUT THE ROLE - INFORMATION SECURITY ENGINEER We are looking for a Security Engineer who can own both the hands-on technical security stack and our governance/compliance programs. What you’ll be doing In this role, you will: * Harden and monitor our cloud & container infrastructure (AWS/EKS, endpoints, network). * Run vulnerability management, security tooling and incident response. * Help maintain our ISMS and support audits (ISO 27001, SOC 2, RBI, DPDP, etc.). This is ideal for someone who doesn’t want to be only “checklist GRC” or only “pure blue-team”, but wants a blended role across security engineering + GRC.Key Responsibilities 1. Cloud & Infrastructure Security (Hands-on) * Work with DevOps to secure our AWS/EKS environment: * IAM hardening, security groups, VPC, KMS, S3, RDS, etc. * Review infra-as-code (Terraform/Helm) for security issues and misconfigurations. * Own or co-own key security tools: * Endpoint / EDR (e.g., CrowdStrike / SentinelOne), * Cloud security (CSPM / CNAPP, GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF, etc.), * Container / runtime security where applicable. * Implement and maintain logging & monitoring for security events (CloudTrail, ALB/NLB logs, K8s logs, etc.), and integrate them with SIEM / alerting. 2. Vulnerability Management & Security Operations * Own the vulnerability management lifecycle: * Run periodic scans for cloud, endpoints, containers and apps. * Triage findings, prioritise based on risk, and drive closure with engineering. * Coordinate external pentests / bug bounties and track remediation. * Support incident response: * Help investigate alerts, gather evidence, and contribute to RCA and CAPA. * Maintain and update incident runbooks. 3. Governance, Risk & Compliance (ISMS, Audits, DPDP) * Maintain and enhance the Information Security Management System (ISMS): * Policies, procedures, SoA, risk register, control evidence and audit trails. * Support internal and external audits: ISO 27001, SOC 2, RBI/CERT-In, Data Protection. * Prepare and manage audit evidence, observations, closure reports and certification documentation. * Assist with risk assessments: * Maintain the risk register, risk treatment plans and residual risk reviews. * Conduct vendor security due diligence and maintain vendor security records (MSA, NDA, DPA, DPIA, etc.). * Support privacy & regulatory compliance operations (GDPR/DPDP basics: retention, consent, grievance logging). 4. Access, Asset & Control Assurance * Participate in and help automate access reviews, asset inventory checks, and configuration compliance checks. * Track control performance (vuln SLAs, access reviews, backup tests, etc.) and ensure gaps are documented and closed. * Maintain security awareness and training trackers (onboarding, annual refreshers, phishing simulations). What You’ll Bring * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity or related discipline. * ~4 years of experience in security engineering, cloud security, or GRC/compliance (any mix, but must be comfortable hands-on). * Good understanding of: * Security engineering fundamentals: Linux, networking, IAM, encryption, least privilege. * Cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP/Azure a plus) and their security services. * Core frameworks: ISO 27001, SOC 2, basic risk management and audit lifecycle. * Comfortable with: * Writing/debugging basic scripts (Bash/Python) for automation and data extraction. * Tools like Jira, Confluence, Excel/Sheets and at least one GRC / security platform (e.g., Scrut/Drata/Secureframe, etc.). * Strong documentation skills and ability to talk to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred (Good to Have) / Willing to Learn * Cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Security / AWS Cloud Practitioner). * ISO 27001:2022 Lead Auditor/Implementer, CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC. * Experience with: * EDR/XDR tools, * CSPM/CNAPP (e.g., Wiz, Prisma, Defender for Cloud), * SIEM, WAF, runtime/container security (Falco, etc.). * Exposure to GDPR/DPDP or other data protection regimes. Key Responsibilities • Design, build, and operate shared platform services on Microsoft Azure, with a strong focus on AKS-based runtime platforms. • Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure and platform modules (Terraform, Helm) that enable safe self-service by application, data, and ML teams. • Own platform components end-to-end (build–run), including availability, performance, security, cost, and operability. • Define and evolve platform standards and golden paths for workload onboarding, networking, identity, secrets, observability, and scaling. • Implement infrastructure and platform changes using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps-style workflows. • Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, including automated validation, approvals, and rollbacks. • Reduce manual operational effort through automation, self-service tooling, and opinionated defaults. • Ensure platform services meet agreed SLOs, security controls, compliance requirements, and resilience standards. • Implement and maintain observability using New Relic, including metrics, logs, alerts, and dashboards. • Lead or support investigation and resolution of complex platform incidents; contribute to post-incident reviews and systemic improvements. • Design and validate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery mechanisms for platform-managed services. • Enable application teams with reliable deployment and runtime patterns (e.g. ingress, service mesh, secrets, scaling, CI/CD integration). • Support DataOps and MLOps workloads by providing secure, scalable platforms for data pipelines, model training, and inference. • Collaborate with data and AI teams on services such as Microsoft Fabric, data platforms, and ML lifecycle tooling. • Act as a senior technical partner to software engineers, data engineers, and ML engineers. • Provide technical input into solution and service design, ensuring operational and platform considerations are addressed early. • Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, sharing platform engineering best practices. • Contribute to continuous improvement of platform processes, documentation, and standards. Skills & Competencies • Someone with 4-6 years of strong experience in cloud engineering, with hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure. • Production experience operating Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) at scale. • Advanced use of Terraform for infrastructure and platform provisioning (modules, state management, governance). • Strong working knowledge of Helm for Kubernetes workload and platform configuration. • Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions. • Solid understanding of cloud networking, identity (Azure AD / Managed Identity), private endpoints, and security controls. • Experience designing self-service platforms or reusable infrastructure patterns. • Strong understanding of reliability engineering, incident management, and change control in production environments. • Practical experience with observability and monitoring, ideally with New Relic or equivalent tools. • Ability to balance delivery speed with risk management, stability, and long-term sustainability. • Clear communicator, able to explain technical trade-offs and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Comfortable working autonomously within a defined platform scope. • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for platform outcomes. • Exposure to DataOps or MLOps practices, tooling, or platforms. • Experience supporting data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, or ML workloads on cloud platforms. • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, ML pipelines, model deployment, or feature stores.
