YOUR MISSION As a vital member of our Infra & DevSecOps team, you aren't just managing servers - you are the architect of the technical bridge between software, firmware, and physical infrastructure. You will ensure our autonomous stack compiles, deploys, and operates flawlessly across edge devices, microcontrollers, and cloud systems. Your work will directly impact the reliability and scalability of our embedded autonomy infrastructure deployed across air, land, and sea systems. RESPONSIBILITIES * Create and refine GitLab CI/CD pipelines tailored for cross-compiled and embedded builds. * Facilitate automated build-test-deploy processes across on-premises edge hardware and GCP. * Establish secure and traceable software delivery by applying DevSecOps principles to edge computing. * Oversee artifact lifecycles and multi-architecture containerisation strategies using OCI and Docker. * Develop and maintain build and deployment scripts. * Collaborate with firmware and electronics teams to integrate and test microcontrollers, sensor boards, and autopilot hardware. * Build and maintain secure links between on-premises infrastructure and GCP. * Integrate on-premises identity providers with GCP IAM and implement Zero Trust principles. * Orchestrate the transition of cloud workloads to on-premises infrastructure. * Manage egress costs and minimise latency between the data centre and cloud regions. SOFT SKILLS * You are solution-oriented and focus on "how we can do this" rather than listing reasons why we can't. * You have the ability to communicate complex technical ideas in a clear and respectful manner to other team members. * You have a team-first mentality: you prioritise the stability of the platform and the health of the team over being the 'smartest person in the room'. QUALIFICATIONS * Degree in Software Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent professional background * 2-5 years of experience in EdgeOps, DevSecOps, or DevOps * Proficiency with GitLab CI/CD and Docker * Strong understanding of DevSecOps, EdgeOps, and DevOps principles * Expertise in Git and Git Flow * Scripting skills in Python and Bash * Linux expertise (Debian, Ubuntu) and experience with ARM64 cross-compilation * Knowledge of GitLab Runners or comparable tools NICE TO HAVE * Experience working with cloud platforms * Familiarity with GCP services such as GCE, Cloud Build, and Artifact Registry * Hands-on knowledge of embedded hardware like NVIDIA Jetson or Raspberry Pi, and integration with MCU firmware

ABOUT THE ROLE: We are growing our Data Language Team within the Gropyus Tech department. The Language team is responsible for the semantic layer of our Gropyus Data Fabric as well as data modeling and transformation for our self-service analytics.  Our team interacts with experts from various domains such as Digital Building Planning and Automation, Product Operations, Sustainability, AI, IoT, construction engineers, building architects, logistics experts, software engineering; solving complex challenges pertaining to end-to-end process for planning, building, and operating a building.   AS PART OF THE DATA LANGUAGE ORGANIZATION, YOU WILL:  * Design data models to formalize concepts from various architecture and construction domains.   * Contribute to the logic to transform and enrich our centralized data for self-service analytics  * Support Data Science use cases including Machine Learning and AI  * Collaborate with domain experts and software engineers to understand data needs and deliver high-quality datasets.  * Implement and uphold data quality, governance, and security standards, including monitoring, testing, and documentation.  * Adhere to best practices and rigor in development including documentation, data governance, testing, and validation  ABOUT YOU: * Experience working with a tech stack similar to:  * Programming languages like Python or Kotlin  * Query Languages like: SPARQL, SQL  * Data Reporting like: PowerBI, Tableau, Quick Sight  * Databases like Postgres, BigQuery, Spark, Graph DB  * Cloud Storage Platforms   * Ability to complete work as directed with guidance from senior engineers or leadership  * Experience resolving issues related to data discrepancies and inconsistencies and creating validation and testing for prevention and handling  * You have data modeling experience through semantic or Business Intelligence development   * You have experience following best practice guidelines in data and software engineering  Optional Experience:  * Some knowledge about semantic layer or ontologies  * Experience with graph technologies and triples  * * Data Science, Machine Learning and AI agents   WHAT WE OFFER: * Be part of something big: You’re here to make a change? THE OPPORTUNITY  We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our Foundation Engineering team. In this role, you won't just be building features for a single product; You will be crafting the very core services that power the entire Urban Sports Club ecosystem. The Foundation team sits at the heart of our engineering organization. We are responsible for application-level, system-wide services that enable our multi-million user base to interact with our platform seamlessly. Your initial focus will be taking ownership of our critical Identity & Authentication services and our core Search backend, with exciting plans to architect and scale a centralized Notification service in the near future. You will act as a force multiplier for our entire engineering department. By designing highly scalable, secure, and performant internal APIs and services, you will enable other product teams to build fast and deliver value to our users. If you love deep-diving into system design, solving complex architectural challenges at the application level, and working with Golang, this is the perfect place for you. This position will be based in Berlin. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Own Core System Services: Architect, develop, and maintain high-throughput, application-level foundational services, focusing initially on identity/authentication and our core search backend service. * Drive Technical Evolution: Design and implement future shared services that support our vision for scaling the platform. * Enable Engineering Teams: Build clean, robust, and well-documented internal APIs and developer tools that empower other product teams to build features rapidly and securely. * Write Exceptional Code: Deliver highly testable, maintainable, and secure Golang code, taking full operational ownership of the components your team develops. * Foster Best Practices: Actively participate in the Urban Sports Club backend cluster, championing strong system design, modularized architecture, and automated testing across the company. * Collaborate Across Boundaries: Work closely with product owners, tech leads, and other engineering teams to understand their requirements and translate them into scalable, domain-agnostic solutions. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED * You have extensive industry experience as a Senior Backend Engineer developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting large-scale applications written in Go (6+ years) * You have a solid understanding of (or direct experience with) core foundational services like Identity/Authentication protocols (e.g., Keycloak, OAuth2, OIDC) and search engines. * You possess a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed system design. You know how to build modular, high-volume services that remain performant under heavy traffic. * You have a track record of designing clean, secure, and developer-friendly internal APIs that scale across multiple engineering teams. * You are comfortable working within cloud ecosystems (GCP/AWS) from an application perspective, understanding how to leverage cloud-managed services efficiently. * You break down complex, abstract problems into elegant software solutions. You communicate effectively with technical stakeholders and love mentoring others. * Experience with PHP is a nice-to-have. We have some legacy context here, so a familiarity with PHP helps if you need to understand existing logic during modernizations or integrations - but your primary daily weapon will be Go. * You engage, inspire, and motivate the people you work with.
