We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join Doctolib's Automation Platform (AUTOP) team, which empowers all Doctolib engineers to build, test, and deploy software with confidence and speed. As part of the Platform organization, Autop’s mission is to build and maintain the automation infrastructure and developer tools that enable our engineering teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently. Every feature shipped at Doctolib — from appointment booking to teleconsultation to AI-powered clinical tools — flows through AUTOP's automation infrastructure. We're the platform behind the platform. When product teams ship faster, safer, and with more confidence, it's because AUTOP built the rails they run on. AUTOP (Automation Platform) is responsible for critical developer-facing systems including: CI/CD automation, testing infrastructure (unit, integration, E2E, contract, visual regression), local and ephemeral development environments, release management, dependency management, and developer productivity tooling. WHAT YOU WILL DO As the Engineering Manager for AUTOP, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: PEOPLE LEADERSHIP * Build and lead a high-performing team of 6 engineers who are passionate about developer productivity; * Create a culture where engineers own outcomes, not tasks — where platform adoption and developer satisfaction are the north stars; * Recruit, mentor, and retain top platform engineering talent in a competitive market; * Conduct impactful 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations that help engineers reach their full potential. TECHNICAL STRATEGY & EXECUTION * Define and drive the technical vision for your team's domain (CI/CD, testing infrastructure, developer environments, or release automation); * Make high-impact technical decisions that balance short-term delivery with long-term sustainability and scale; * Set the bar for automation, quality, reliability, and security — your systems must be highly reliable because 800 engineers+ depending on them daily; * Champion a "Platform as a Product" mindset: treat internal developers as customers, measure adoption and satisfaction, iterate based on feedback; * Partner strategically with product teams, Infrastructure Platform, and Applicative Platform to solve cross-cutting challenges; * Drive measurable improvements in developer productivity metrics: build times, deployment frequency, test reliability, time-to-production… supporting Doctolib teams to monitor their metrics (DORA, performance, costs, etc). IMPACT & INFLUENCE * Be a visible technical leader across the organization — your team's work enables everyone else's success; * Influence engineering culture: establish best practices, contribute to technical strategy beyond your team; * Navigate ambiguity and lead through influence, not authority — platform adoption requires trust and advocacy, not mandates. About our tech environment * Our automation platform supports a hybrid architecture: a large Ruby on Rails monolith and an expanding ecosystem of modern microservices (Java, Kotlin, TypeScript) * We maintain sophisticated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, testing frameworks across multiple languages, and infrastructure-as-code solutions * Our systems handle thousands of CI builds daily, manage comprehensive test suites across multiple languages, and manage deployments across multiple environments for 200+ development teams * Our stack includes: Ruby, Java, Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and various testing frameworks * We intentionally leverage AI to improve developer productivity and reliability, in a sustainable manner . WHO YOU ARE Before you read on — if you don't have the exact profile described below, but you feel this job description matches your skill set, we still encourage you to apply. * 6+ years of software engineering and 3+ years managing technical teams — you have a proven experience and know what great engineering looks like * Deep platform engineering expertise: CI/CD, developer tooling, automation, testing infrastructure, or internal platforms * Track record of building "Platform as a Product" — you've driven adoption, measured impact, and iterated based on developer feedback * Strong stakeholder management — you can influence without authority, build coalitions, and navigate complex organizational dynamics * Proven ability to balance technical depth with people leadership — you can code-review a Terraform module and coach a report through a difficult conversation * Fluent in English and comfortable influencing across a multi-country organization NOW IT WOULD BE FANTASTIC IF YOU: * Are passionate about developer experience and understand what makes engineers productive and happy * Have an entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and building the plane while flying it * Have experience managing distributed or remote teams across time zones * Have background in healthcare, regulated industries, or mission-critical systems where reliability and security are non-negotiable WHAT WE OFFER * A Deutschlandticket (Germany-wide public transport pass) fully paid for by Doctolib * 28 vacation days + 1 additional day for each full calendar year of employment (up to a maximum of 30 days) * Work from abroad for up to 10 days per year thanks to our flexibility days policy * Company health insurance with great supplementary benefits through our partner Allianz * Company pension scheme (bAV) through Allianz with an employer subsidy of 40% (15% within the probationary period) * Enrollment in Doctolib's long-term employee value sharing plan called DoctoGrowth * The Doctolib Parent Care program, which includes one month additional parental leave and much more * Free mental health and coaching services through our partner Moka.care * Subsidized sports membership through our partner Urban Sports Club * A flexible workplace policy offering both hybrid and office-based mode * Alongside healthy snacks and our regular breakfast buffet, we provide a subsidized meal benefit * For caregivers and workers with disabilities, a package including an adaptation of the remote policy, extra days off for medical reasons, and psychological support THE INTERVIEW PROCESS * Recruiter Interview * System Design Interview * Behavioral Interview * Engineering Manager Case Study * At least one reference check JOB DETAILS * Permanent position * Full Time * Based in Berlin * Hybrid position 3 days/week in the office * Start date: As soon as possible If you would like to find out more about tech life at Doctolib, feel free to read our latest Medium blog articles! ABOUT PARLOA Parloa’s mission is to make every customer conversation feel effortless for both customers and the companies serving them. As agentic AI accelerates, Parloans are shaping the foundation of a new era in customer experience, one where customer support is no longer transactions, but meaningful exchanges. It is not just a vision; Parloa has powered over ONE BILLION interactions between global enterprise brands and their customers, with companies like Booking.com, HealthEquity, Allianz, SAP, BarmeniaGothaer, and TUI already deploying Parloa at scale. ABOUT THE ROLE: Parloa's platform is only as trustworthy as the infrastructure beneath it. As enterprises commit their most sensitive customer conversations to our system, the cloud foundation, network topology, and deployment architecture that carry those workloads must be reliable, scalable, and operated with precision. That foundation is yours to build and lead. As Engineering Manager for Infrastructure Platform, you'll shape how a fast-scaling AI company designs, provisions, and evolves the infrastructure that powers everything. Your team owns the landing zone, network topology, global traffic routing, IaC modules for self-service provisioning, and enterprise IT integrations. You'll be the person our product engineering teams rely on when they need infrastructure to move as fast as they do, and the person our enterprise customers trust when they need to know the platform is built to last. If you want to define what world-class cloud infrastructure looks like inside an AI-native company scaling to global enterprise, this is it. AREAS OF OWNERSHIP: * Hire, develop, and retain engineers who combine deep technical craft with ownership and accountability. Create an environment where people grow fast and hold each other to a high standard. * Own the full infrastructure substrate end-to-end — landing zone, network topology (hub-and-spoke, VPN, peerings), global routing and DNS, IaC module library, and the runner infrastructure that keeps CI/CD moving. * Drive Parloa's multi-tenant deployment architecture forward. Own the runtime abstractions that hide multi-tenancy complexity from product teams. Ensure new regions and customer deployments can be stood up predictably and at pace. * Establish the IaC conventions, Terraform modules, and orchestration patterns that product teams depend on. Make infrastructure self-service without making it unsafe. * Infrastructure Platform sits at the center of the Tech Platform group. Your IaC workflows hand off to DevEx. Your networking and patching posture feeds SecOps. Clear ownership and tight collaboration across those seams is part of the job. * Some of your biggest stakeholders are the sales and customer teams closing enterprise deals in regulated industries. You'll be called on to explain your architecture, your resilience model, and your data residency posture in ways that help our organization move forward. WHO YOU ARE: * 8+ years in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering, with at least 3 years leading teams, ideally in a SaaS or platform company at meaningful scale. * Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including networking, IAM, Kubernetes, and IaC (Terraform in particular). * Strong conviction about infrastructure as a product: you think about self-service, reliability at the foundation layer, and giving product teams the primitives they need to move fast without becoming infrastructure experts. * A proven team builder. You know how to hire strong infrastructure engineers, develop them into seniors, and create the conditions for good independent judgment. * Comfortable operating across abstraction layers: you can review a Terraform module, discuss multi-tenant runtime topology at an architecture review, and explain multi-region HA tradeoffs to a non-technical audience in the same day. * Familiarity with compliance-adjacent infrastructure concerns (data residency, network segmentation, audit logging) as they arise in enterprise SaaS environments. * Genuine curiosity about what AI-native infrastructure looks like at scale. The patterns are still being written, and you want to help write them. OUR ENGINEERING VALUES: At Parloa, we hire, promote, and evaluate based on cultural and technical excellence. You’ll thrive here if you: * Earn Trust – act with transparency and reliability. * Obsess Over Customers – always start with the customer problem. * Think Big – set bold goals and pursue them fearlessly. * Have Integrity – do the right thing, especially when it’s hard. * Disagree & Commit – debate with candor, align fast, and deliver. * Own It – take full responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. * Dive Deep – master the details without losing sight of the big picture. * Bias for Action – move fast, decide quickly, iterate fearlessly. * Deliver Value – measure success by customer and business impact. * Insist on the Highest Standards – raise the bar continuously. * Go the Extra Mile – make the impossible possible. * Hire & Elevate the Best – raise the bar with every hire. WHY JOIN PARLOA? * Impact at Scale: Define the future of enterprise AI in a market ripe for disruption. * Elite Talent Density: Work alongside top-tier engineers, Staff, and Principal leaders in a reverse-pyramid structure optimized for speed and innovation. * Culture of Builders: Ownership, autonomy, and fearless iteration are not slogans—they are how we win. * Uncapped Growth: Be part of an org growing 4x annually, where career opportunities multiply as fast as our business. Global Ambition: Help establish Parloa as Europe’s most admired engineering organization, competing head-to-head with FAANG and beyond. OUR RECRUITING PROCESS: Recruiter Interview → Peer Interview → 360° Technical Interview Loop → Bar Raiser Interview ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parloa is committed to upholding the highest data protection standards for our clients' and employees' data. All our employees are instrumental in ensuring the utmost care, GDPR, and ISO compliance, including ISO 27001, in handling sensitive information. Parloa is an e-verify employer in the USA.
