This role is responsible for supporting the commissioning and startup of medium-voltage electrical systems within complex industrial and mission-critical environments. The position collaborates closely with clients, contractors, utilities, and engineering teams to ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. The individual will play a key role in driving quality, compliance, and successful system turnover. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform commissioning of medium-voltage switchgear, substations, and associated electrical infrastructure. * Support commissioning of utility interconnections and service entrance systems. * Commission transformers, protective relays, and grounding systems in accordance with project requirements. * Oversee commissioning of medium-voltage distribution systems feeding UPS, PDUs, and critical loads. * Develop, review, and execute commissioning plans, procedures, scripts, and test protocols. * Coordinate commissioning activities with owners, engineers, contractors, utilities, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). * Validate system readiness through inspections, functional testing, and integrated systems testing. * Identify deficiencies, track issues, and verify corrective actions through to closeout. * Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, IEEE, NETA, OSHA), and client commissioning requirements. * Provide on-site technical leadership and mentorship to commissioning staff and field teams. * Support system start-up, energization, and turnover activities while maintaining strict adherence to safety controls. * Maintain detailed commissioning documentation, reports, and final turnover records. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong knowledge of medium-voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, substations, and power distribution. * Familiarity with electrical testing standards and practices (NETA, IEEE, NFPA, NEC). * Proven ability to develop and execute commissioning plans and procedures. * Strong understanding of system integration, functional testing, and startup processes. * Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within energized or pre-energized environments. * Effective communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders. * Ability to lead and mentor field personnel in a fast-paced construction or commissioning environment. * Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and reporting capabilities. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. * NETA certification preferred. * OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred. * Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable. As an Electrical Commissioning Technician working with the LotusWorks team, you will be based on a client site within the Semiconductor sector at a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. In this role, you will join a highly experienced onsite team responsible for the delivery of Electrical LV system scopes within an active manufacturing environment. LotusWorks has provided continuous support to this client site for over two decades, backed by established onsite management structures, reliable administrative support, and a collaborative, performance-driven team culture. RESPONSIBILITIES: * This position is responsible for the commissioning and de-commissioning of a range of LV Electrical Systems, including but not limited to those listed below: * LV Distribution Panels (Continuous & Emergency Power) * Distribution Panels (General Services) * LCP / MCC Panels * Transformers * UPS Systems * VSDs / VFDs & Associated Motors, Pumps, Fans * Heat Trace Systems * Process Tool Energisations & De-Energisations * Work as an Electrical Commissioning Technician as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team supporting Electrical commissioning and de-commissioning activities. * Document, execute, and close out Electrical LSRs (Live Service Requests) and DSLs (De-Installs). * Prepare Electrical power‑up documentation in line with the tool installation process. * Demonstrate ownership and initiative in a high‑paced, schedule‑driven environment. * Deliver assigned tasks in line with project milestones and safety requirements. * Carry out all duties in a manner that poses no risk to personnel safety or facility operations. * Commission & De-Commission Electrical Systems in accordance with project specifications and site procedures. * Perform pre-flight commissioning & de-commissioning site field walks and document any issues found / generate punch lists for resolution, prior to handover. * Work with Operations and Engineering teams to develop testing protocols and system start‑up procedures. * Safely troubleshoot and resolve Electrical issues in a live manufacturing environment. * Generate and execute commissioning documentation including OATs and FATs (Operational and Functional Acceptance Tests). * Work to tight timelines while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. * Ensure documentation complies with client quality and commissioning requirements. * Generate, execute, and maintain commissioning documentation in a controlled and organised manner. * Record test results and system performance data. * Support the closure of identified field issues and verify that all corrective actions have been effectively implemented. * Interact and respond to Project and Commissioning Leads direction. * Attend daily meetings and provide accurate status updates on assigned systems and activities. * Co-ordinate with commissioning, operations, engineering, and safety teams to support system readiness. * Execute all works in strict accordance with site safety protocols, procedures, permits, and approved documentation. * The role involves the commissioning and de-commissioning of multiple Electrical Systems, executed with unwavering adherence to COHE (Control of Hazardous Energy) procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational control. * Maintain exceptional attention to detail & safety standards, particularly when working on live Electrical Systems Identify, report, and mitigate any risks associated with Electrical commissioning and de-commissioning activities * Communicate clearly and professionally with peers, supervisors, and client stakeholders. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong working knowledge of LV Electrical Systems, including operation, design, and testing practices. * Proven experience in the start‑up and commissioning of Electrical equipment and systems. * Proficient in incorporating LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) and COHE procedures in operational environments to ensure equipment isolation, hazard control, and personnel safety. * Knowledge of VSD & VFD drives is considered an advantage. * Demonstrated understanding of MCCB types and their performance characteristics is considered a notable advantage. * High attention to detail, particularly regarding safety‑critical systems. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic fast‑paced environment. * Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite applications, with the ability to produce accurate documentation and support operational tasks. * Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead electrical commissioning activities across all project phases, from design review through energization, testing, and final handover. * Review electrical designs, one-line diagrams, specifications, and control schematics to ensure systems are commissionable and aligned with project requirements. * Plan and coordinate installation verification, pre-functional checks, energization, and functional testing for electrical systems. * Oversee QA/QC walkdowns to confirm installation quality and readiness for commissioning. * Lead and manage safe energization of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS, and distribution networks. * Coordinate closely with mechanical, controls/BMS, and construction teams to ensure system integration and readiness. * Develop and manage electrical commissioning procedures, checklists, and test scripts. * Identify, track, and drive resolution of commissioning issues through to closure. * Utilize commissioning tools and platforms to monitor system status, readiness, and progress against project schedules. * Lead commissioning meetings and provide clear reporting on electrical system readiness, risks, and progress. * Ensure all electrical systems meet design intent, safety requirements, and client performance expectations prior to handover. * Support system turnover including documentation completion, as-built verification, and client handover requirements. * Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to commissioning engineers and technicians. * Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including strict adherence to LOTO, arc flash, and energization procedures. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
