As a Fabrication Engineer for Parametric Quantum Devices, your work will be essential to advancing the performance and scalability
of our quantum processors. You will focus on the research, development, and physical realization of the quantum signal chain, with
a particular emphasis on Traveling Wave Parametric Amplifiers (TWPAs) and readout components—utilizing superconducting devices
both with and without Josephson junctions.
You will work in an international, collaborative environment, bridging the gap between fundamental physics and engineering.
Working in a tight feedback loop with experimentalists and design engineers, you’ll turn measurement insights into rapid
fabrication iterations that push the performance of our parametric devices. Your contributions will be essential in meeting our

As a Quantum Design Engineer in our R&D team, you’ll be at the heart of advancing the performance and scalability of superconducting quantum processors. You’ll lead the design of next-generation qubit chips and modular, scalable QPU architecture, working from on-chip subsystem architecture to EM simulations, frequency allocation, crosstalk management, packaging, and interconnect strategies. You’ll also design and optimise nonreciprocal superconducting circuits, such as isolators and parametric amplifiers that will drive robust, high-fidelity readout chains. These designs will enhance readout signal-to-noise ratio and stability, feeding into our next-gen readout modules and ensuring seamless coupling with the qubit layer. This role is highly collaborative: you’ll work in a tight feedback loop with experimentalists and device engineers to transform measurement insights into rapid design iterations, pushing performance, coherence, yield, and manufacturability across the full qubit stack. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING * Design and simulate cutting-edge quantum hardware to improve performance, coherence, and scalability. * Develop high-performance, manufacturable device architectures that accelerate R&D cycles and increase qubit fidelity and yield. * Architect and optimize the layout of nonreciprocal superconducting circuits such as parametric amplifiers, targeting robust performance under cryogenic conditions. * Interpret simulation results and correlate with experimental data to guide iterative design improvements. * Collaborate across teams to ensure rapid design-to-test cycles, connecting theory with experiment. * Automate the design pipeline using Python, enabling parametric device generation, simulation sweeps, and data post-processing. YOUR PROFILE * MSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 2+ years of industry experience or a PhD with relevant hands-on work * Strong Python skills for automating designs, controlling simulations, and analyzing data * Experience with EM simulation and chip design tools (e.g. Ansys HFSS-Q3D, KLayout); Git and Qiskit-Metal familiarity is a plus * Knowledge of cQED devices and superconducting circuit design is a strong advantage * Experience designing nonreciprocal superconducting circuits (e.g. parametric amplifiers) or advanced readout techniques is highly valued * Solid grasp of microwave engineering, quantum noise sources, and fabrication methods Don't tick every box? IN SHORT Single Quantum (singlequantum.com) develops the world’s fastest and most sensitive light‑detection systems — pushing the limits of physics. As we continue to scale up our production capabilities, we are expanding our Nanofabrication team. We are looking for a Nanofabrication Engineer to join us at our headquarters in Delft. In this role, you will be directly involved in the fabrication, optimization, and development of nanofabrication processes that form the core of our SNSPD technology. This is a full‑time position, ideally starting in mid-July/August 2026, and classified under Function Group J (depending on background: Bachelor / Master / PhD). WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Key responsibilities include: * Fabricate SNSPD devices in the cleanroom with high precision and reproducibility. * Execute standardized nanofabrication production runs. * Optimize existing fabrication processes to improve yield, stability, and reproducibility. * Develop new fabrication processes and transfer them to newly installed cleanroom equipment. Daily work takes place primarily in the VLL cleanroom in Delft, with occasional activities in the EKL cleanroom. You will work with a broad set of tools and processes, such as: * Electron‑beam lithography * Laser writer patterning * PECVD / ICPECVD * Photolithography * Reactive ion etching * Sputtering systems * Bosch etching * Wet bench processes * ALD systems You will collaborate closely with colleagues in Nanofabrication, R&D, and Production to ensure high‑quality device fabrication. YOUR PROFILE AND REQUIREMENTS We are looking for someone with: * Master’s or PhD in Applied Physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or related fields. * HBO/Bachelor candidates with several years of cleanroom experience are also considered. * Has hands-on experience with different fabrication processes (e.g. e-beam lithography, RIE, Bosch etching) and metrology tools (SEM, AFM). * Has strong attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality fabrication. * Can work independently within a short timeframe after onboarding. * Is a problem solver with hands-on attitude; being able to proactively find solutions using DOE methods and approach problems in a structured systematic way. * Has excellent teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate within cross functional environments. * Has good organizational and communication skills. * Has great sense of responsibility and commitment * Has the ability and strong ambition to independently optimize processes. * Is proficient in English. We are building a state-of-the-art fabrication facility dedicated to manufacturing quantum processors. As a Process Engineer you will sit at the intersection of R&D and operations, translating cutting-edge quantum device research into repeatable, high-yielding processes. You will play a central role in two critical phases of the fab ramp-up: (1) transferring processes from the R&D team into the kilofab environment through MES and optimizing them for yield, throughput, and repeatability; and (2) qualifying new capital equipment as it arrives on the fab floor through Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Tool Qualification & SAT * Lead or co-lead Site Acceptance Testing (SAT; IQ/OQ/PQ) for incoming process tools (at least for 2 process modules). * Create SAT criteria in collaboration with equipment engineers and tool vendors; Negotiate test conditions and results sign-off. * Execute qualification wafer runs, analyze results, and generate formal SAT reports with pass/fail determinations. * Manage your responsible tool installation timelines together with Facilities and Equipment Engineering to minimize schedule impact. * Coordinate vendor support during tool bring-up and drive resolution of open issues to baseline release. Process Transfer & Optimization * Own the end-to-end transfer of at least 2 process modules (PVD, CVD, ALD, dry/wet etching, track, evaporation, dicing and laser/e-beam writing) from R&D to kilofab. * Work closely with R&D scientists to ensure process intent is preserved during transfer and to feed learnings back upstream. * Develop and execute process qualification plans (PQPs): establishing process windows, control limits, and acceptance criteria. * Establish and maintain process control monitoring (SPC) for all processes and set up fault detection classification (FDC) with the fab automation team. * Drive DOE (Design of Experiments) to optimize key process parameters for yield improvement. * Use data driven decision making to perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve process issues. * Document all learnings made in a structured way so these can form the basis of OCAPs in the future. * Document SOPs and train technicians on tool operations and wafer level metrology. * Own the process engineering scope within the MES: Manage recipe lifecycle (creation, revision, versioning, and retirement), maintain process and parameter data integrity to ensure traceability, deploy SPC, update process consumables & DOE creations. * Participate in the Change Control Board (CCB): Provide relevant data for review and drive the approval for the change of process. * Support the rapid introduction of new processes and products to match Quantware's fast-evolving product roadmap demands. * Build respectful relationships across process engineering, process integration, R&D, Equipment Engineering, facilities and production teams to drive cross-functional alignment to achieve a win-win outcome. * Proactively build and document deep hardware knowledge of responsible process tools, connecting tool mechanics to process behavior to drive informed optimization and faster troubleshooting. YOUR PROFILE * MSc or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. * 3+ years of hands-on cleanroom process engineering experience in a semiconductor fab or advanced materials fabrication environment. * Demonstrated experience with at least two of the core process modules listed above (PVD, CVD, ALD, dry/wet etching, evaporation, dicing, track or laser/e-beam writing). * Practical experience executing or supporting equipment qualification or SAT activities. * Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (JMP, Minitab, Python/R for DOE and SPC analysis). * Strong documentation skills; experience writing SOPs, process & tool specifications, and qualification reports. * Ability to work in a Class 100/ISO 5 (or equivalent) cleanroom environment. * Experience in superconducting qubit fabrication, cryogenic device processing, or other quantum technology contexts is a bonus. * Familiarity with cryogenic material constraints (e.g. film stress, thermal cycling behavior) is also desirable.
