We vieren successen.

ABOUT US We're an independent European digital product studio with a strong track record of delivering market-defining strategies and products for enterprises and governments. With about 200 talented people across three countries, premium AI capabilities and a diverse portfolio of international clients, we define, design and ship high-quality digital products, strategies and software. From global cloud-based platforms and large-scale apps to medical devices, banking software and augmented reality experiences. In a nutshell: if it lives and breathes digital, it’s what we do best. BECOME A PART OF OUR TEAM At In The Pocket, you join a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, strategists and data specialists who care about the work as much as the people they work with. We work in small, autonomous teams that stay close to our clients and their users, and we give everyone the space to take ownership, speak up and grow. You’ll learn from colleagues across our studios, ship products that reach thousands or even millions of people and help shape what digital can do for leading organisations in Europe. For this role, you'll be embedded in a dedicated team working closely with one of our key enterprise clients. You'll be the operational backbone that keeps delivery on track and the client relationship healthy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT YOU’LL DO As a Digital Project Manager at In The Pocket, you keep complex digital builds on the rails. You own the planning, drive technical follow-up and act as the trusted point of contact between the team and the client. You don't need to be the deepest technical expert in the room, but you understand enough about how digital products are built to spot risks early, ask the right questions and steer the conversation in the right direction. PLANNING & DELIVERY * You own the project plan: scope, timeline, milestones and dependencies. You keep them realistic, visible and up to date. * You coordinate the day-to-day work of a cross-functional team and make sure the right things happen at the right time. * You proactively manage risks, blockers and trade-offs, and you escalate clearly when something needs a decision. * You take ownership of delivery: not just shaping good work, but making sure it actually ships, on time and within budget. TECHNICAL FOLLOW-UP * You follow up on technical progress and understand what the team is building, well enough to track it, challenge it and translate it. * You have solid foundational knowledge of application development and web development. You understand how these systems are built, what tends to go wrong, and what "done" really means. * You bring enough product sense to flag when an idea is a bad one, to point out that option M also exists, and to nudge the team and client toward the better trade-off, before time and money are spent in the wrong direction. * Cloud and infrastructure knowledge is a plus. Where you don't have the depth yourself, you know how to lean on the technical expertise within the team. CLIENT COMMUNICATION * You are the primary point of contact for the client and you build a relationship of trust and transparency. * You communicate fluently at both levels: the technical follow-up with engineers and architects, and the clear, accessible updates for business and marketing stakeholders. * You're comfortable having at least weekly contact moments with the client on site (Ghent region), so you stay close to their reality. * You easily switch hats to match whoever is in the room, adapting your language and focus across design, engineering, architects, project managers, business and marketing. * You manage expectations actively, keep stakeholders aligned on priorities and trade-offs, and make sure there are no surprises. * You translate between the client's needs and the team's reality, and you keep both sides moving in the same direction. AI FLUENCY * You actively use AI in your own day-to-day work to plan faster, draft clearer communication, summarise progress and keep on top of complexity. You treat AI as a default part of your toolkit, not an afterthought. * You understand where AI can speed up or improve delivery, and you help the team and client adopt these ways of working. * You stay current with how AI is reshaping digital project management and software delivery, and you bring that perspective into the way the team operates. * You have a healthy, critical view of AI: you know its limits, you keep quality and accountability in human hands, and you can judge when a tool genuinely helps versus when it gets in the way. PEOPLE & COLLABORATION * You are a natural collaborator. You build strong relationships with designers, developers and stakeholders and create an environment of trust and open communication. * You handle conflict constructively and navigate different opinions to find solutions that work for everyone. * You're comfortable giving and receiving feedback and you help create a culture of continuous improvement within your team. WHO YOU ARE * You have solid experience (medior to senior) in digital project management, delivering software, web or app projects in an agile environment. * You have foundational knowledge of application development and web development. You don't need to write production code, but you understand how it's built and can hold your own in a technical conversation. * You have enough product sense to challenge ideas, weigh alternatives and protect the value of what's being built. * Experience with or interest in cloud technologies is a plus. You're curious and eager to keep building your technical knowledge. * You have strong organisational skills and can juggle multiple workstreams, dependencies and deadlines without losing the overview. * You have excellent people skills and emotional intelligence. You read the room, understand different perspectives and bring stakeholders together. * You communicate with clarity, empathy and confidence, and you're comfortable and confident in a client-facing role. WHAT WE OFFER Joining In The Pocket means becoming part of a team that shapes the future of our clients’ businesses across Europe. You’ll start in a freelance contract in a role that comes with responsibility and the opportunity to make a real impact from day one.
At DATAPAO, data ignites passion, community fuels collaboration, and growth knows no bounds. We are a leading Data Engineering and AI consulting company backed by Databricks and recognized for our unmatched delivery standards and rapid growth. We have been named Databricks EMEA Emerging Business Partner of the Year (2024), achieved the Golden Tier status in the Databricks Partner Program, and made three consecutive appearances on the Financial Times FT1000 list. We are currently looking for a well-versed (Senior) Data Engineer to work with our EMEA and US customers and help them solve their data engineering, ML and/or ML Ops, and cloud migration puzzles. "As a Data Engineer at DATAPAO, you will have the unique opportunity to push the boundaries of technology and lead the way in how data transforms the world. We work with customers who want to innovate and who want to change industries and the world. So it never gets boring! Sorting out a complex technical puzzle, setting up a new data architecture from scratch or guiding our customers through adopting the latest technologies is our routine here. Hence, we'd expect you to be more than just a (data) engineer. We'd expect you to breathe and live data, to thrive for knowledge and excellence, and to be keen to build something enduring and impactful for our customers. We'd expect you to be a (data) Paoneer!" (Máté Gulyás, CEO) What (exactly) will you do? As a Data Engineer, you are expected to deliver (across industries) on some of our most complex projects - individually or by leading small delivery teams. Although we work for the biggest multinational companies where years-long behemoth projects are the norm, our projects are fast-paced, typically 2 to 4 months long. The majority are delivered using Apache Spark/Databricks on AWS/Azure and require you to directly manage the customer relationship, alone or along with a Project Manager. Additionally, at this seniority level, we expect you to compound your impact across the team and the organization - by mentoring more junior engineers, evaluating the quality of their work, and contributing to hiring best-in-class data engineers. What does it take to fit the bill? * Consultant mindset & passion for customer experience - you prioritize your work with the customer in mind and you seek to advise (rather than purely execute) your customers on the best-in-class technical solutions; * Excellent communication & presentation skills - you can adjust your communication style, and articulate complex, technical concepts to all types of audiences; * Solid software engineering foundations - you are a stack-agnostic senior software engineer, have significant experience working on Unix/Linux, and a strong understanding of how Distributed Systems work. Additionally, you are familiar with (and keen to follow) best-in-class software engineering principles; * Data & Cloud are part of your engineering journey - you played a role in teams that designed and implemented data-intensive applications and you have strong SQL & NoSQL hands-on experience. Exposure to Real-Time Data Processing Systems, Apache Spark, and/or the Big Data ecosystem is an advantage; * Mentoring skills & strong predisposition to knowledge-sharing - are things that excite you. We consider ourselves a learning organization and believe that these are meaningful tools for one to compound his/her impact across the team and the organization. Thus technical mentoring and/or people management hands-on experience is a big plus; * You thrive when having to solve problems & take ownership - you solve problems on your own and advise (or coordinate) others on how to do the same. Moreover, you love stepping up as a technical lead or identifying organizational gaps and filling them in - being an organizational process or documentation gap, a customer communication miss-match, or a resource allocation deficiency; * You are fluent in English and willing to travel (mainly in the EU and normally within a short business trip setup) up to 15% of your time. What do we offer? * Educational benefits: There’s no shortage of learning opportunities at DATAPAO, meaning that you'll get access to Databricks' public and internal courses to learn all the tricks of Distributed Data Processing, MLOps, Apache Spark, Databricks, and Cloud Migration from the best. Additionally, we'll pay for various data & cloud certifications. You'll also get dedicated time for learning during work hours and access to our internal library. * Flexible PTO and Working Hours: We’re flexible about your working routine and how many days you take off if it does not conflict with customer success, company goals, and the work you do. * Flexible Office: It is up to you which days you spend in the office. However, as a strong community is one of DATAPAO's value propositions, we’d expect you to spend one day per week in the office on average. * 30 Calendar Days of Paternity Leave (if applicable): We think it’s essential for both parents to be there when it matters the most. * Private Medical Insurance: We provide a private medical package via Generali. * Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Through EAP, we offer our employees access to psychological, financial, and legal consulting services via phone or in person. * Top-notch working equipment: Working comfortably means working well. Therefore, you will get a MacBook, a Herman Miller office chair, standing desks in the office, and whatever else is needed to give your best. * The chance to make an impact in a high-transparency culture: Open feedback and a no-politics environment are things we value a lot at DATAPAO. Additionally, you'll get the chance to shape the future of a rapidly growing tech company, to work with cutting-edge technologies, and to help some of the biggest and most innovative companies in the world sort out their data puzzles. * A cozy and modern office in the heart of Budapest: Located in a vibrant, central part of the city (Opera/Oktogon), it's designed to foster focus, creativity, and team connection. You'll find open spaces for group work, quiet corners for deep thinking, and plenty of natural light. It’s well-stocked with snacks, drinks, coffee, and beverages. Optional Friday evening beers, movie, and wine-tasting nights with the team are also on us. The gross salary for this position ranges from gr. 1.200.000 - 1.700.000 HUF/month for a Medior and from gr. 1.700.000 - 2.300.000 HUF/month for a Senior role, depending on your assessed seniority level during the selection process. WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT US? DATAPAO is a Data Engineering and AI company that covers the entire data transformation from architecture to implementation.
