ALTEN Sweden is now looking for a Mechatronics Engineer to take on a Group Design Leader role in an exciting automotive project in Gothenburg. You will lead development within mechatronic systems, coordinating cross-functional teams and driving technical delivery. About the role As a GDL, you will: Lead development within mechatronic systems. Coordinate between Mechanical and Electrical domains. Drive technical decisions and ensure delivery on time, cost, and quality. Work with PLM systems such as Teamcenter and KDP/TCPLM. Use CarWeaver for system support and documentation. Lead cross-functional meetings and manage stakeholders. Identify risks and drive mitigation actions. Who You Are We’re seeking an engineer with: Several years of experience in mechatronics design. Experience with Teamcenter and PLM systems (required). Familiarity with KDP/TCPLM Experience with SystemWeaver / CarWeaver / StarWeaver (preferred). Automotive experience. A degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. To support this we are looking for an AI Solutions Engineer to serve as a primary technical point-of-contact for our AI initiatives. Together with AI Business Analysis that will identify what we should build, you are responsible for the How. You will both support prototyping and transforming concepts into robust, scalable and production-ready AI systems. Hence, you will bridge the gap between rapid PoCs and core engineering, ensuring all components are reliable, secure and deeply integrated into our tech ecosystem. You will also work closely with Data and Machine Learning Engineers, Product Managers, and business stakeholders across the organisation. This is not a purely technical role. The right person can understand the underlying business needs and answer questions on feasibility and delivering value by selecting the latest AI technologies, agentic frameworks and orchestration patterns that don’t just conceptually look good, but actually solve high-stakes complexities within Etraveli. The role can be based in Gothenburg or Athens. Duties and Responsibilities Architectural Design & Scoping Study project feasibility by evaluating if the available data will suffice for the intended AI solution Perform and communicate Cost-Benefit Analyses and identify factors which are crucial to the success of a given initiative Plan integrations and design how AI solutions will communicate to existing systems Select tools and decide whether to use LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini), agentic frameworks, integration tooling or a more custom-build solution Prototype Development Build functional versions of AI workflows to show stakeholders how they will work in the real world Facilitate integrations between LLMs and our internal data sources, APIs and other travel platforms Customise general AI products for specific in-house use cases Productionising AI workflows Wrap AI solutions in robust APIs and deploy them into our in-house cloud so other teams can use them Own the technical architecture for AI implementations, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to ensure AI solutions meet enterprise-grade privacy and compliance standards Observe deployed LLM based solution, tracking usage and costs together with more technical metrics such as drift or latency Technical Consulting & Advocacy Stay on top of latest LLM and agentic AI developments and bring relevant capabilities to the attention of the team Lead technical evaluations of new frameworks with regard to their potential of enabling new initiatives Act as the technical subject matter expert for AI within the tech organization supporting the organisation's transition to working with LLMs and agentic AI tools – helping teams move from curiosity to confident, productive use Requirements 3–5 years with a solid foundation as a Machine Learning Engineer or Backend Engineer focused on ML systems Understanding of core architectural components in modern AI systems Proficiency in Python with the ability to build scalable high performance services and integrated complex ML and AI logic into production environments Proven experience in deploying open source LLMs on on-prem infrastructure or building using external LLMs Strong understanding of RAG, vector databases and the infrastructure required to support data-heavy AI applications Exposure to concepts like CI/CD and Orchestration and a basic understanding about service monitoring and alarms as well as secrets management Benefits Our office is located in Merkurhuset in Gothenburg, a few steps away from public transport and lunch restaurants. What You’ll Do Own and drive the product strategy and roadmap for your part of the Gas Detection portfolio Define product positioning, value propositions, and business cases Work closely with R&D to specify and prioritize development based on customer and market needs Analyze market trends, competitors, and regulatory developments Engage with customers and key stakeholders to understand future needs Drive product launches and support go-to-market activities Collaborate with sales, service, and operations to ensure commercial success Monitor product performance and drive continuous improvement What You Bring Degree in Engineering or a related field ~5+ years experience in product management, product strategy, or similar roles Technical curiosity with the ability to understand product architecture and system design Strong business acumen and ability to translate technology into customer value Experience working with hardware/software systems, preferably in regulated or safety-critical environments Proven ability to drive cross-functional initiatives Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus) Experience in safety systems, gas detection, or regulated industries is a plus.
