LotusWorks is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to oversee commissioning activities on mission-critical and data center projects. This role is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical commissioning, ensuring all systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and client expectations. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Execute mechanical commissioning activities for data center and mission-critical projects. * Ensure systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and client expectations. * Develop commissioning plans, procedures, pre-functional checklists (PFCs), and functional performance tests (FPTs). * Review drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, identify design risks, and validate mechanical QA/QC documentation. * Perform field inspections to verify installation compliance, identify deficiencies, and track corrective actions through completion. * Commission mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion tanks, water treatment systems, HVAC controls, BAS integration, ventilation, pressurization, containment systems, and associated mechanical equipment. * Verify equipment startup readiness, witness vendor startups, and validate system performance under normal, maintenance, and failure operating conditions. * Participate in integrated systems testing (IST), validate redundancy (N+1, 2N, 2N+1), verify sensor calibration and control sequences, and support BAS/BMS integration, alarms, safeties, interlocks, and system functionality. * Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, QA/QC, TAB, controls, vendors, and client teams to support project milestones and system turnover. * Maintain commissioning documentation including commissioning logs, deficiency reports, startup records, TAB reviews, progress reports, systems manuals, O&M documentation, and turnover packages. * Support client witness testing, operator training, project closeout, and successful system turnover. * Ensure compliance with LOTO, safety procedures, job hazard analysis (JHA), pre-task planning (PTP), and commissioning best practices while promoting a safe work environment. SKILLS REQUIRED: * 2+ years of mechanical commissioning experience in data center or mission-critical environments. * Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, and critical cooling systems. * Experience executing commissioning activities through all project phases. * Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. * Familiarity with BAS/BMS systems, TAB processes, and integrated systems testing. * Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional project teams. About the Role The Critical Facility Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mission-critical infrastructure within the data center. This role covers all aspects of energy isolation, switch activity, and facility rounds, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. The Critical Facility Technician reports directly to the Critical Facility Shift Manager and works as part of a larger team that strives for excellence through teamwork and accountability. This is a shift-based role requiring flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a 24/7 operations team. Main Responsibilities * Operations & Rounds * Conduct scheduled and unscheduled facility rounds, inspecting all critical systems (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire/life safety, and security) for proper operation and signs of abnormality. * Monitor Building Management System (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS), and other automation platforms for alarms and alerts; respond promptly per SOPs. * Maintain accurate logs of alarms, operational events, isolations, and shift activities. * Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned. * Energy Isolation & Switch Activity * Execute all energy isolation procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements. * Perform and document all switchgear operations, including breaker racking, transfer switches, and panel isolations. * Verify isolation and de-energization prior to work; ensure proper signage, barricading, and communication. * Coordinate with vendors and other teams for planned and emergency isolations. * Maintain records of all isolation activities, including authorization, verification, and restoration. * Incident Response & Troubleshooting * Respond to alarms, system notifications, and abnormal conditions; perform initial diagnostics and escalate as needed. * Support incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and after-action reporting. * Participate in emergency procedures, including system recovery and safe shutdowns. * Compliance & Documentation * Adhere to all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. * Ensure all work is performed per approved Method of Procedure (MOP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP). * Maintain up-to-date documentation for rounds, isolations, switch activities, and maintenance tasks. * Continuous Improvement & Teamwork * Identify opportunities for operational improvement and risk reduction. * Participate in training and periodic program reviews. * Support development and review of procedures and playbooks. * Collaborate closely with team members, sharing knowledge and supporting a culture of accountability and mutual respect. Qualifications and experience * High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or related field) preferred. * 2+ years of experience in mission-critical environments (data center, hospital, industrial plant, etc.). * Demonstrated experience with energy isolation, LOTO, and switchgear operations. * Technical Skills * Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, CRAC/CRAH units, and fire/life safety systems. * Proficiency in BMS/EPMS platforms and alarm management. * Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs. * Safety & Compliance * Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety standards. * Experience performing LOTO and energy isolation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements. * Other Requirements * Excellent communication and documentation skills. * Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. * Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. * Strong teamwork and accountability mindset. YOUR MISSION As a BMS Software Engineer (all genders), you will join the VÆRIDION R&D team within the Technology division. You will be responsible to lead the development of software required for our propulsion battery management and power distribution for VÆRIDION’s CS-23 all-electric aircraft. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of the High Voltage Electrical Power System at the core of VÆRIDION’s novel propulsion system. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded software for propulsion battery and power distribution from prototypes to future airworthy systems. * Implement software development processes and toolchains in compliance with aviation standards and regulations. * Define and document software requirements, specifications, and interfaces for the high voltage electrical power system. * Collaborate closely with cell, electrical, and thermal engineers to develop robust and efficient algorithms for battery state estimation, cell balancing, fault detection, power control, and thermal management. * Conduct thorough testing and validation of the software, including integration testing with other aircraft systems. * Support system integration, iron bird/field testing, and certification efforts, providing expertise on software functionality and performance. * Stay current with advancements in battery technology, software development methodologies, and aviation regulations. YOUR PROFILE * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time applications. * Proven track record of designing and implementing software for safety-critical systems, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industries. * Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). * Experience with battery management systems, electric propulsion, power electronics, or related fields is highly desirable. * Familiarity with aviation standards such as RTCA DO-178C and DO-254 is a plus. * Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. * Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams. * Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or other language would be beneficial.
