This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working close to operations, driving continuous improvements within Environment,
Health & Safety, and supporting both employees and management in creating a safe and compliant workplace.
You will be part of an established organization with an international footprint, where collaboration, structure, and proactive
safety work are highly valued.
In this role, you will support and drive EHS activities across the organization and operational sites. The assignment includes
both strategic and operational responsibilities, with a strong focus on compliance, risk management, internal audits,
investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will work closely with different stakeholders across the business and act as an important advisor within health, safety, and
environmental matters.

Uppdraget är initialt ett konsultuppdrag på sex månader med goda möjligheter till anställning hos kund. Tjänsten är placerad i Malmö och arbetet sker huvudsakligen på plats under dagtid. Enstaka resor inom Europa kan förekomma. Önskad start är så snart som möjligt. Om dig Du är en trygg ledare med gedigen kompetens inom arbetsmiljö, hälsa, säkerhet och hållbarhet, gärna från tillverkande industri. Du har minst fem års erfarenhet från produktionsnära verksamhet och har tidigare lett team eller arbetsgrupper. Du har god kunskap om svensk lagstiftning inom arbetsmiljö och hållbarhet samt förmågan att omsätta regelverk och krav till praktiska och effektiva processer som stödjer en säker och hållbar produktion. Som person är du kommunikativ, engagerande och skicklig på att bygga förtroendefulla relationer inom bolaget. Description Associate Director, EH & S and Facilities Sutro is seeking an Associate Director, EH & S and Facilities to lead EH & S compliance and equipment service management at our South San Francisco headquarters . Responsibilities: Develop and partner with external consultants to lead the EH&S program, including safety training, job hazard assessments, periodic inspections, policy and SOP development, and appropriate documentation. Review, create, and continuously improve Sutro safety SOPs. Lead building-specific safety team meetings and drive actions to resolution. Review and audit waste handling procedures and coordinate with Facilities and scientific staff to assure compliance. Manage equipment service workflows for preventive maintenance, unplanned repairs, calibrations (e.g., pipettes, O2 monitors, scales), and cold storage defrosts. Create, schedule, track, and close service work orders in the CMMS; enter service reports and maintain equipment and calibration files. Coordinate new instrument and equipment setup, service readiness, vendor scheduling and escorting, and equipment decommissioning. Partner with lab users, Facilities, and service providers to communicate service status, verify completion, escalate safety or compliance issues, and support equipment-related on-call response. Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of EH & S experience, the majority of that time in the biopharmaceutical industry. Experience coordinating laboratory equipment service programs in a biopharmaceutical, laboratory, or regulated operations environment. Experience independently conducting health and safety inspections, training and program reviews and updates for a wide range of EH & S programs, including chemical, biological, radiological, general safety and life safety. Working knowledge of CMMS or Facilities work-order systems, equipment service documentation, and calibration or preventive maintenance tracking; experience with Faciliworks , Excel, Zendesk, D365, or similar tools is preferred. Knowledge of State and local health, safety, waste and environmental regulations, procedures and business practices, including a broad knowledge of health and safety best management practices. Excellent written and communication skills required for general correspondence, service coordination, report preparation, and documentation follow-through. Candidate must be highly motivated and excited to collaborate with various departments and relevant personnel, including Facilities, laboratories, administration, and service providers with minimal guidance. Excellent attention to detail and ability to track multiple equipment service activities through completion. Additional Qualifications: Board certification in a related discipline (e.g., CIH , CSP , CHP, PE) is a plus, however not required . About the role As Sustainability & Utility Manager to BAT Fiedler & Lundgren, you will play a leading role in ensuring a safe working environment, driving the factory’s sustainability agenda, and securing reliable and efficient utility operations. The position has a strong focus on health and safety (EHS), where you take overall responsibility for compliance with Swedish legislation, internal standards, and international requirements, while continuously improving ways of working and strengthening the local safety culture. You will work closely with the production teams, ensuring that EHS processes, risk assessments, incident reporting, chemical handling, energy mapping, and sustainability data are accurate, up to date, and effectively implemented. The role also includes responsibility for utility management, where you set the direction for maintenance, manage and follow up on contracts, and act as a technical expert in projects involving EHS, sustainability, or utility. A central part of the role is to drive improvement initiatives and support cross-functional collaboration. You lead the EHS and sustainability roadmap, coordinate audits and inspections together with authorities and external partners, and contribute to the development of sustainable and efficient production processes. You will lead a team of six and foster a high-performing, engaged, and collaborative work environment. The role includes OPEX responsibility and close interaction with regional sustainability and engineering teams, as well as suppliers and service providers. This is a full-time consultancy assignment for six months with the ambition for a permanent hire. The position is based in Malmö and is primarily on-site during daytime hours. Occasional and infrequent travel within Europe may be required. Preferred start date is as soon as possible. About you You are a confident and experienced leader with a solid background in EHS and sustainability, ideally gained in an industrial or manufacturing environment. You bring at least five years of experience from production settings and have previously led teams. Your understanding of Swedish EHS, environmental, and utility legislation is strong, and you have the ability to translate this into practical, efficient processes that support safe and sustainable operations. You thrive in a role where both structure and analytical thinking are crucial. You are comfortable working with energy balances, water balances, and technical data, and you can assess, calculate, and challenge information when needed. As a communicator, you are clear, engaging, and able to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization. You combine a proactive “can-do” mindset with the ability to coach, influence, and implement improvements.
