Your future role at QRT
We are looking for an exceptional Software Engineer to be an integral member of the Data Engineering team. We work closely to
solve challenging problems that have direct impact on our business and trading.
In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and expanding our data platform, with a focus on the development of
our new data pipeline framework. You will have the opportunity to develop highly scalable and performant solutions, while
partnering with various stakeholders within QRT. Prior experience with financial data is beneficial but not necessary; we welcome
talented developers without a background in financial services and are happy to provide training and guidance.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Platform team within the Platform group, you will help build the systems that centralize all of Coinbase's internal and third-party data. The Data Platform team makes it easy for teams across the company to access, process, and transform data for analytics, machine learning, and powering end-user experiences. You'll contribute to the full spectrum of our systems, from foundational data storage and processing to scalable pipelines, frameworks, and internal applications that make data efficiently available to every team at Coinbase. What you'll do: * Own the design, development, and operation of foundational data services spanning cloud data warehouses, data lakes, orchestration (Airflow), batch processing (Spark, SQL), streaming (Kafka), query federation, and real-time event aggregation stores. * Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs used by internal services and product teams throughout Coinbase to interact with the data platform reliably at scale. * Deliver self-service applications that empower users to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot their own data pipelines running on our platform infrastructure. * Architect end-to-end data security and observability services, including access controls across multiple storage and access layers, data quality tracking, dataset cataloging, lineage, and usage auditing. * Partner with data analysts, ML engineers, and security and compliance teams to convert functional requests into reusable, scalable patterns and assemble data microservices into platforms for critical business verticals. Required Skills and Experience: * 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with hands-on experience building and operating data systems or data pipelines in production. * Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java for backend development, with demonstrated ability to build services that process and serve data at scale. * Experience with data infrastructure patterns including scale-out architectures, caching layers, key/value stores, and columnar storage systems. * Hands-on experience with SQL, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, or similar data processing and orchestration frameworks in production environments. * Experience with data security, access control, or data observability systems, including cataloging, lineage, or quality monitoring. * Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. Engineers on Data Infrastructure are domain experts in Data Warehouse, Data Lakehouse, Spark, Workflow Orchestration, and Streaming technologies. We scale our existing data pipelines in a performant and cost efficient way while creating the necessary abstractions to make developing on top of this platform extremely simple for other engineers at Plaid. Responsibilities * Contribute towards the long-term technical roadmap for data-driven and machine learning iteration at Plaid * Leading key data infrastructure projects such as improving ML development golden paths, implementing offline streaming solutions for data freshness, building net new ETL pipeline infrastructure, and evolving data warehouse or data lakehouse capabilities. * Working with stakeholders in other teams and functions to define technical roadmaps for key backend systems and abstractions across Plaid. * Debugging, troubleshooting, and reducing operational burden for our Data Platform. * Growing the team via mentorship and leadership, reviewing technical documents and code changes. Qualifications * 5+ years of software engineering experience * Extensive hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong track record of delivering successful projects within the Data Infrastructure or Platform domain at similar or larger companies. * Deep understanding of one of: ML Infrastructure systems, including Feature Stores, Training Infrastructure, Serving Infrastructure, and Model Monitoring OR Data Infrastructure systems, including Data Warehouses, Data Lakehouses, Apache Spark, Streaming Infrastructure, Workflow Orchestration. * Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, and project management skills, with proven ability to coordinate effectively. * Proficiency in coding, testing, and system design, ensuring reliable and scalable solutions. * Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers. * [Nice to have] Experience with Databricks, Airflow, AWS EMR Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone.
