About the Team At Deliveroo we’re striving to build London’s best and most admired Security Engineering organisation as part of our global team based across North America and Europe. Our London based Security Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to lead the design, development and operation of security services within Deliveroo’s Product and Cloud Security domains. You will be a part of our inclusive, collaborative global team responsible for building “security paved paths” to ensure a safe, reliable and resilient delivery network. This is a London based position reporting directly to the European Senior Manager of our Security Engineering team based in London. What You’ll Need to Thrive * Build and maintain core security products, including but not limited to Remote Access Management, Secrets Management, Tokenization, Encryption and Knowledge Graphs, Access Control at global scale. * Partner cross-functionally with Core Infrastructure, Product Engineering, Legal, Security teams and Vendor Partners to build “paved paths” that provide actionable feedback to embed secure design practices into the product and infrastructure development process. * Lead the technical direction and roadmap for your assigned area of ownership. * Build and maintain high Operational Excellence (OE) to ensure we operate T0 services with excellence, rigor and durable standards to ensure minimal to no downtime. * Participate in on-call rotation and promptly respond to on-call events with urgency and rigor. * Manage the lifecycle of security product feature requests and improvements full life-cycle from triage, validation, design, testing, and implementation. * Influence and drive improvements to engineering standards, leverage advancements and LLMs to improve productivity and velocity. * Mentor and coach earlier career engineers, setting and enforcing high standards for Operational Excellence and Software Engineering. Requirements * Able to demonstrate a track record of driving improvements to a company’s infrastructure security posture. * Breadth of technical experience across various infrastructure and security areas running in large production environments. * Highly skilled in distributed systems and platforms development using program languages such as Java/Scala/Kotlin, Golang, or Python. * Strong experience with infrastructure as a code tooling like Terraform. * Expertise with cloud infrastructure and management in AWS. * Experience solving complex, systemic issues that require creative thinking and solutions. * Exceptional analytical and investigative abilities with hands-on experience leading root cause analysis. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills to review design documents with respect to cloud infrastructure, security and engineering personnel. * Must be comfortable regularly exercising discretion and independent judgment in performing job duties, including evaluating options, making informed decisions, and determining appropriate courses of action within the scope of assigned responsibilities with minimal oversight. SHAPING THE FUTURE OF PROCUREMENT We are investing in a brand-new, future-oriented Global Procurement Centre of Excellence that is shaping the future of DoorDash Inc. Procurement. This role is a pivotal part of that new organisation. Please note: While this is a global group role driving strategy across the DoorDash Inc. portfolio, you will be locally employed on a Deliveroo contract based out of our London office. In this role, you’ll help us design, build, and embed our future-state procurement function—ensuring that procurement evolves as an integrated system, rather than a set of disconnected initiatives, across a complex, global, multi-entity organisation. While our Chief of Staff and PMO ensure work is sequenced and delivered in line with enterprise capacity, you will focus squarely on what is being built and how. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: * Target Operating Model & Design Authority: Define and maintain the target operating model for Global Procurement, covering structure, roles, decision rights, and ways of working to support growth, efficiency, resilience, and risk management. Act as the design authority for procurement transformation initiatives, ensuring absolute coherence across all build activities and resolving design tensions between global standardization and local flexibility. * Global Process Design: Own the design of global procurement processes, ensuring simplicity, scalability, and absolute clarity regarding decision-making, accountability, and cross-functional hand-offs. Sponsor the deep integration of process design with governance, data capture, and digital enablement. * Digital, Systems & AI Enablement: Own the procurement digital enablement agenda, including core procurement systems (sourcing, contracts, supplier management), workflow automation, and productivity tooling. Drive applied AI use cases that improve efficiency, insight, and decision quality, ensuring responsible, controlled adoption of AI in line with enterprise standards. * Transformation Build & Change Design: Sponsor and oversee build initiatives across process, digital enablement, automation, and capability to ensure solution designs align with the agreed target state and do not fragment the operating model. Set the overall strategy for change management, adoption, and capability uplift, partnering with specialist roles who own the localized delivery. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Essential: * Significant experience architecture-designing global target operating models and process frameworks within complex, multi-entity corporate environments. * Proven ability to act as a Design Authority, with a track record of resolving design tensions between global standardization and local execution. * Strong understanding of modern digital procurement ecosystems, with hands-on experience scaling core procurement systems, workflow automation tools, and applied AI use cases. * Proven capability in strategic change management, with the ability to define the strategy for adoption, capability uplift, and operational readiness. * Exceptional stakeholder leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional peers (such as PMO, Chief of Staff, and Finance leads) to separate design from delivery governance.
